Stuff is being removed. If you go to the livestream of the bridge, they have at least four barge cranes lifting stuff out of the water right now. It's a slow process but they are working on it.

Ships lose power all the time. Things fail and malfunction. Especially on these foreign flagged rust buckets.

@@viewer4life NTSB Reports could take months to typically a year. Lots of variables to look at. I'm guessing that one of the most challenging aspects of this investigation will be cataloging the previous inspections of that ship, and reviewing past procedures made to make any repairs etc etc Components of that ships computer systems will be evaluated & examined.This is no ordinary vessel. They will also look into the procedures & checklists prior to leaving port. Information will be kept minimal to the public until investigations are completed for "Insurance claim purposes" & whatnot. But they will most definitely find out if it was bad fuel, fire, bad engine (Engines go bad......Picture a car engine hauling a load of 400 fully loaded locomotives as an example) An engine powerful enough to do this feat would have some fairly complicated parts. If something went bad with it, they would disassemble it to find out what part failed. LOTS OF WORK, LOTS OF INVESTIGATION, LOTS OF TIME. For sure, a whole bunch to look at.

this goes to show what happens when you don't plan for the worst when building a bridge plain and simple some bridges have concrete barriers to protect their bridges but Baltimore do not have it protecting their bridges and as you can see people died from it

The Army Corps of Engineers are the ones in charge of the removal and eventual reconstruction of the bridge.

The bridges that the military uses for river crossings that are set up quickly, would block the channel for ships.

Only issue is the military bridge would eb a floating bridge and would block the port, Military can build span bridges that far.

Getting the ships insurance to pay will happen down the road, once the evidence has been collected, a proper investigation has been completed, and lawyers do their thing in court. But that could be years down the road. The best thing to do in the mean time is eat the cost and get this critical port open. Remember, it is a primary port for the import of vehicles and farm equipment, and has already put 8,000 people out of work in the greater Baltimore/Maryland area.

Insurance will payout but it’s going to take time. The long the bridge sits in the water the greater the economic impact will be.

The problem in Baltimore is different. We don't need to build a bridge in 5 days because we have other bridges and even a tunnel that connect us. The issue here is cleaning up the wreakage of the fallen bridge so that other ships can continue to come in and out of the port of Baltimore. Cleaning up has been challenging due to various reasons.

What has he done? A simple Google search reveals nothing.
