Maybe this 'new one', but the previous film use stunning levels of live action and stunts. Some of the camera work is impossible in the real world, like the camera being inside an engine and following the combustion chain, or a macro shot of a bullet going slow motion into a skull etc... The vehicle work was all real though. 57 people died during the making of the original Mad Max... FIFTY, SEVEN...zero died during Fury Road, so some concessions are vital.

I'm not saying Ripley and Sarah Carter can't pull it off but even they are very feminine. I find my female heroes more believable when they are thoughtful, nuanced and resourceful. Guys can get away with full on Mad Max. Generic female characters trying to act like generic male characters is just bad storytelling. .
