To put the current Doctor Who situation in perspective for Tom, here's an analogy: Imagine Happy Days, near the end of Happy Days, being suddenly changed into a combination of current Velma and the worst John Waters movie, with the Fonz wearing mascara, in a tight leather skirt, riding a Vespa Scooter instead of a motorbike, and Joanie is "on-the-make" for Laverne (Laverne and Shirley were introduced within Happy Days, remember that), and Laverne has just been released on parole from "Orange is the New Black". That - for those of us whom grew up with Doctor Who every week, on free TV since the 60s and 70s - is an applicable equivalent.

If they had any sense, Disney would put George in a John Lassiter position for Star Wars, providing ideas, quality control, etc if they were to use him at all. Giving him a show or director chair is dumb, but a consulting role might be helpful. That being said, Start Wars is dead and George signed its death warrant himself.

I can see George coming back as a creative consultant for new projects. If he wants to direct something also, let him direct. Even though he's about 80 years old, there are directors that are old and still directing. For example, George Miller is still directing (79 years old, directing Furiosa) and Clint Eastwood (93 years old). I think it's great news if he comes back. I bet him and Iger talked about what happened after George sold Lucasfilm to Disney. Maybe after discussions George will now have more control and input about upcoming projects

I still have my facebook post on the 13th of december, 2017. I came out from the premiere of the TLJ and posted sadly that star wars is dead. I think I didn't know how much I was right that day, but that post aged well. :( Also a lot of other beloved franchises had the same fate. MCU, DC, doctor who, terminator, harry potter and so on. Sad, but we can still find good contents from the 90s or 2000s.

@ Midnights Edge I have a sneaky suspicion that Roger Christian is just putting this out there so he can strum up some work for himself thinking George Lucas would bring him on board in gratitude from his old friend if it generates interest from Disney/Lucasfilm to make it a reality 🤷🏻‍♂️. It would not save Star Wars unless George has multiple protégé’s 1000% better than Dave Filoni that are good stewards of his baby with the freedom under the corporate structure of Disney to do so.

As Long as Kathleen Kennedy, Dave Filoni, Carrie Black, and the rest of Lucasfilm story group is there it won't mean anything. Not to mention George lost his touch. He would have to rebuild everything. He would have to bring in former EU writers like Timothy Zahn, James Luceno, Matthew Stover and others to have a chance.

What if George is helping out with Jon Favreau's movie. He had been visiting during Mando production and it fewls like Jon and George speak the same language in a way, when it comes to storytelling

Does anybody believe that Lucas is coming back to Star Wars, or do you mean does anyone care if Lucas is coming back?
