When I was fishing much more... Several times a week for 5-16hrs a time I would use my braid for many, many years with no issues. I've almost never lost a fish to broken line and if I did it's due to the fluro or mono 10-24" leader breaking from snook gill plate, shark skin or teeth or barnacles. I am still using braid spooled 25yrs ago with zero issues apart from color loss. I have been experimenting with different braids and some don't last at all like I purchased a ton of okuma soft steel on the clearance they have had for years. The thin stuff I use was absolute garbage waste of money breaks just tying knot to 6 to 20lb mono leader. I haven't tried the 20, 30, 60 etc I purchased to use for likes shark, Tarpon and large grouper as well as fly backing yet and probably never will save for maybe the 100lb holo core. So stuff like that soft steel I would see going through faster due to it just being junk line to start. For bass you never need 20lb unless you are in super heavy cover. Right now I'm experimenting with $1.xx to $20 something for 150 to 3000m of 4, 8, 9, 12, 16 carrier Ali stuff. It seems decent though no idea how long it will last. But power pro and old school spiderwire from back in the day I use for 5, 10, 25yrs with no problem other than green turning pale brownish tan, red turning sorta Grey brown yellow spiderwire getting white etc.

All year? Unless you fish 365 days a year you can get much longer out of it

Yeah just because the dye or coating fades doesn’t mean the braid is bad. Braid will literally last years even under much harsher conditions than tournament bass fishing.

Nice video, Brent. Reversing the braid makes a lot of sense and definitely will save some money.
