I kind of loved how Kong had a look of "you want me to help that jerk out" when asked to help out against Mecha Godzilla. I can totally understand him thinking "let's wait, I'm enjoying the show here." But honestly Godzilla and Kong had some great moments and it was pretty entertaining. Hopefully it has done well enough to warrant future movies. Would be fun to see what else they might do.

I love how, since MechaGodzilla is being controlled by Ghidorah's consciousness, it prioritized GODZILLA over Kong. Kong was some random monkey that simply interfered, so when it fought Kong it was just getting him out of the way. The moment Kong was out of it's way, it went right back to making sure Godzilla was being tortured. It only tried to kill Kong after he attacked SEVERAL times.

Honestly would love for Kong to explore the Hollow Earth first, with Kong's team awakening some of the old civilization tech and foreshadow King Ceaser and other Kaijus that sprout out to the top where Godzilla ends up fighting.

@@soraxstacy1477 It would also work best storywise for the whole Monsterverse franchise to have a Kong movie set in the Hollow Earth and leave Godzilla and the surface world alone. It would also allow Toho to relaunch its own Godzilla series and stagger its releases so they don't come out the same year as Legendary's Godzilla films. I would call the next Kong film, KONG: KING OF THE HOLLOW EARTH.

Ok, I'm glad you asked...lol What I'd love to see, because this was my favorite part, next to the Martin Riggs shout out when Kong popped his shoulder back in, was the Kong Godzilla team up..So, I'd like to see Earth's Ultimate Alliance Kong, Godzilla, Jet Jaguar and Mothra team up against Gigan, Megalon, and Destroyah with obvious other Titans. You could even create something nasty in the Hollow Earth, like Bipedal Bears, Wolves, Tigers, Lions, or mix them together to create a Titan Liger, or a Wolfeagle type creature..idk. but ultimately you have to have out Hero's defend earth from the Pacific Rim Kaiju...

On 13:29 to 14:44, I'm glad you caught the Kiryu reference, but I'm sad you missed *the salvaged Ghidorah head* being a reference to the Heisei Mechagodzilla. Also, I believe that Godzilla and Mechagodzilla having that beam struggle is a reference to both the 1974 and 1993 Godzilla Vs Mechagodzilla.

2:05 Not A storm, THE storm. The massive and violent vortex they flew through in the first Kong movie has shifted, overtaking the island, which is no longer in the “eye” of the storm. The way they talked about it and showed it anyway that was my take on what they meant.

Maybe we could get a film for exploring the hollow earth so we can get a better understanding of ancient humans, other Titans and forms of life. Kinda like Kong: Skull Island but they dispatch a modern day military team with some cool explorers to investigate some of that prehistoric kinda architecture? Idk

The thing is, the Monsterverse bet conservatively: they basically planned out 4 movies leading to GvK instead of a "Destroy All Monsters" type thing that builds up over 10 films. In doing so they may have "wasted" three of the main big bads: King Ghidorah, MechaG, and evil humans seeking to kill the Titans. That basically leaves only Destroyah, who does need to be built up to (and they can do that because they already introduced the Oxygen Destroyer). Yeah there are powerful other bad monsters out there they could bring in like Gigan and Space Godzilla, but Gigan hasn't really worked solo and Space Godzilla doesn't have the rep of Ghidorah/MechaG/Destroyah. That being said, you could easily do 3-movie set: one for Godzilla, one for Kong, then a Destroy All Monsters vs. Destroyah (where you do "kill" Godzilla... but a post-credits shows an egg hatching and a baby G). Problem is: you need writers to really develop (1) the monster story [who's fighting who and why], (2) the humans [to keep audiences interested], and (3) the build up to Destroyah [which will probably be key].

the biggest Easter egg is that a lot of people didn't realize the very last scene with King Kong in the hollow Earth is basically the post credit scene but they liked it so much they added it to the end of the movie instead of waiting

I just loved how when Mechagodzilla came in, whenever he attacked you could hear Ghidorah just like how after Mothra sacrificed herself to save Godzilla in King of the Monsters. When Burning Godzilla emerged and attacked, you could hear Mothra’s roar or screech. I love that little touch in these movies. I hope the contract gets renewed. My nephews are HUGE Godzilla fans. I got them not even half of the OG Toho movies on Blu-ray. They enjoy them so much.

I think that there was one more Easter Egg that most missed, but it wasn’t from a Toho Godzilla Movie. It was from Toho’s King Kong Escapes. The “Bad Guys” kidnap Kong and bring him to the Arctic (in the movie, but it seems more like the Antarctic) to dig for Element X because Mecha-Kong keeps breaking down due to the radiation. That scene from King Kong Escapes when Kong was digging and covered with snow jumped to mind when Kong shows up in Antarctica at the gateway to Hollow Earth. My 50-year-old ass giggled like a little schoolgirl when I saw that. I hopped up and down in my chair and squealed to my wife “King Kong Escapes- King Kong Escapes!” I got the “Yes dear” nod and smile from her. By the way, Godzilla vs. Kong came out on my 50th Birthday this year so it was kind of a Birthday Present from HBO Max that I could see it at home. One of the only pluses from Covid I guess.

The way they were using Ghidorah's head to control Mechagodzilla sets up Biollante well. A human-plant-titan neural hybrid. Glad they dropped all the "grounded" stuff (mostly) and just went full sci-fi for the monsterverse. It really paid off in this movie.

Hoping we get to see Biollante as the villain for the next movie. I'm guessing it'll have something to do with the Hollow Earth and she seems like a good fit for that incredibly strange ecosystem. Nowhere on earth could a plant as big as Godzilla manage to survive, but tapped into that energy source from the hollow earth? That could work. Love the idea of her roots extending all the way down to the hollow earth while she rampages on the surface of the planet. I imagine Destroyah or Spacegodzilla are likely future antagonists as well. Destroyah would be the ultimate bad guy and probably the one to eventually kill this universe's Godzilla. Spacegodzilla would be the best way to introduce aliens to the setting, as cool as Gigan is I don't think he's enough to carry a movie by himself.

what I think is going to happen now cuz I originally thought it was going to be Mecha Ghidorah because of the end of the last movie king of monsters but then they did mechagodzilla so I think the next movie is going to involve Mecha Ghidorah with Apex around it again they're going to try to take over hollow Earth and control it for the humans or something like that Because it has great energy sources and powers that we don't know about

Destroyah should be last final boss in the final movie if they go that far and they should do next movie such as gamera or alien basic monsters. Destroyah should be main reason for all monsters and human to team up.

It was kind of heartbreaking to see Dr.Serizawa’s son turn out to be such a douche instead of continuing his dad’s work. His dad would’ve been so disappointed. Would like to see some redemption for his character but it looks like he got fried.

Well, with the loss of his father, he put the blame on Godzilla without knowing how much his father loved Godzilla and saw the Titans as benevolent creatures to co-exist with.

@@ksharif1 - Yes Thats what they went with in the movie but I would’ve thought Dr.Serizawa’s notes that he left behind in king of the monsters would’ve explained everything. He made sure to leave his notebook. Or at least his colleagues would’ve explained everything to his son. But I guess it wasn’t good enough.

@@C0leman: I see your point and definitely see myself agreeing with it. But our emotions can definitely cloud our judgment. Similarly in Captain America: Civil War, Tony Starks knew Bucky Barnes was brainwashed by Hydra but he didn’t care given it was Bucky who killed his parents.

I'm ok with where they went with him. He had a different view from his father. He was happy having humanity be the 'pet' of Godzilla that would be fine so long as we don't cross him or develop far enough to become an obvious threat. Maybe his son didn't like that idea. Honestly the concept of Mecha Godzilla...made sense. It's a pretty dicey thing hoping that your species doesn't upset the guy in the ocean that fires atomic breath. Having something that can actually fight Godzilla if needed isn't all that far out there. Didn't work out of course. They needed Mecha Godzilla to go rogue or else...honestly the villains would be the protagonists of this story.

I'd want them to show how Kong species fought Godzilla species to become the rulers of the Hollow earth.. That would be just amazing to watch.. Then build up a story to show how Kong and Godzilla makes a truce as they know how fatal the battle between them would be if they continue

Let's say phase one is over, I would like them to maybe focus on a alien invasion and the creation of SpaceGodzilla. Maybe even tease other species of Ghidorah like Death Ghidorah or Keiser Ghidorah heading to earth. Monsters I like to see are Gorgosaurus, Baragon, Varan and Anguirus

I think round 2 was at most a draw for Kong, but I would call it 2 rounds both to Godzilla. It seems his main interest was just to make it clear to the new kid who's in charge, probably because he wasn't at the end of the last film like the rest. He hunted the MUTOs, down across the planet but actually left Kong alone both times he was down. Kong may have human-like intelligence, but Godzilla's is pretty old with a pretty large brain himself.

Did you miss on the closeup of the glowing Godzilla mural, there are several axes in there. If you pause on it, you can see that several of the dorsal plates on that mural is actually axes like the one Kong uses.

I say Godzilla won both of the two fights, yes Kong had that second fight won, but he made the fight continue by sneaking him, where Godzilla would eventually win round 2.

I think that's a fair view. Godzilla would win a direct fight and that was reflected in the two big fights of the movie between them. Of course without Kong, Godzilla gets wrecked by the mecha. So it's probably a good lesson for Godzilla that he doesn't need to kill everything that is powerful enough to be some challenge to him. Those challenges can be handy when up against something he can't actually handle. At the very least I liked Kong as the movie went on. Went in expecting to be all for Godzilla, but I could empathize with where Kong was coming from. Just doing his thing and this angry guy keeps harassing him.

@@Flaris I mean yeah but mecha was also made solely to take down Godzilla. Kong would need Gozilla help just as much if they made some type of Ape killing robot.
