I have one in the ocean turquoise. It’s an amazing looking guitar. Very, very well built. My only observation is that it has a very muted and compressed sound which I can only imagine is a function of the wood chosen. It’s certain sky not the pickups as when I play acoustically that’s the default sound. In addition there’s remarkably little resonance. In fact I can’t think of a guitar I have with less resonance and that really surprises me for a hollow body. That’s fine for me amongst a large number of guitars I have because it gives me something entirely different from everything else. But I wouldn’t want it to be my one and only guitar or even one of a handful of guitars. It certainly is a unique sound as compared with my Casino or a Riviera. Appreciate it for what it is.

What I cannot understand is why Gretsch doesn't just make both Bigsby and stoptail options across all models. The G2420 offers a stoptail, but not in the G5420 Electromatic model. Why??

I would love to see a video of the new G2655-P90 or G2655T-P90 as I have one on order and have no idea how the new Fidelisonic pickups sound. Lol

i believe it refers to the color of the guitar. It is the color of Jack Daniels Bourbon.

How about making G2135s and making G5135s more readily available outside of an artist model? Just discovered the Corvette (CVT) and think 4 models would sell in each line. With/without Bigsby on both a 2 or 3 pickup model. I'd admittedly buy a G5135 w/3-pickups without a Bigsby. Waving my charge card at the screen now. ;) Edit: add a baritone model with the 29.5" scale as well in the Corvette line up (G5260 neck on a CVT body).

@@konjunto2477 I’m on SS, and if I can buy a 1969 Chet Nashville, so can someone younger and working. These models do not reflect the history of Gretsch.

@@konjunto2477 In general the high end Gretsch guitars have always been problematic staying in tune so you have to think thank these lower end models will be the same or worse.
