How to Make an Internal Bend in Steel Cable Tray Using a Crimping Tool or Bending Machine

Students trading aid on how best to put an internal 90 degrees bend in steel cable tray. Includes a full demonstration on how bend steel cable tray using a bending machine and how to use a crimping to. You can buy a manufactured 90 degree bend or make one on a cable tray bending machine but in this video I show you how to make one using a metal bar. This technique can get you out of a jam if you haven't bought one or you don't have a cable tray bending machine on site .
This is a step by set guide on how to make (fabricate) a 90 degree bend in metal cable tray and use a cable tray bending machine to make the same bend.

Great video. I used to use an old file with a really good handle. I had access to a bending machine once when a contractor came to our site, I felt that it was too aggressive with the bend and the cables were jumping off the tray as they couldn't maintain the bend. Manually you can create a nice soft bend and as you demonstrated, it only takes a few extra minutes. Probably less minutes though than it wold take to manually handle a bending machine and/or bolting bends you've bought from the wholesaler.

To make wider bends with the bending machine you pull the lever down a bit, then release, slide the tray out a bit, then bend a bit more, then repeat. You can then make the bends as wide as you need. I own a cable tray bender but this video is the first time I've ever seen another one.

I used to cut a wedge out back from the corner and bend it til the wedge edges touched this having two 45s to make a 90 bend easier to tie wrap cables to.
