I've read a lot of hateful comments and I find it sad that so many people think that self-empowerment is negative. i think people should be free to interpret the song however they like, which is even what Hailee said she wanted. But no matter how you read the lyrics, the song is still about self-empowerment. Since when is loving yourself in any way, even if it is sexually, a bad thing? It's sad that so many people don't realize that is a natural and healthy part of life. It's upsetting how society has twisted sex, a natural part of not only human experience, but the experience of all other living species, into something that is dirty or shameful. That perspective can lead to a lot of problems psychologically. Sex in and of itself is not inherently bad. It's all about the way people think and go about it. We have turned it into something negative and, as a result of that, there are so many people who end up promoting it in a negative light (as many other teen idols and pop stars have). But even if you choose to interpret the song as being about self masturbation, the lyrics in this song in no way depict sexual activities in a negative light. She is not talking about having sex with another person, suggesting that females should dress a certain way to attract male attention, or even talking about another person being involved in any shape or form. Many other artists do that, whereas she is simply promoting SELF love (where you don't have to worry about unsafe sex, being taken advantage of, being objectified). If that comes in the form of loving your body in a personal way, then there is nothing wrong with that. How is that a bad message for anyone? Children aren't going to interpret the song that way and will see it the same way Hailee and millions of other people see it. You should love yourself, know yourself, and feel confident about who you are as a person without needing another person to make you feel special or beautiful. You should have your own sense of self-worth and be able to live independently. Psycologically speaking, that is the healtihest thing a person can do. Reaching self-actualization is important and will help pave the way for all your other endeavors and social interactions throughout your life. If you truly love yourself, then you will be much happier and more content in your life in general.

Some people might not think she's amazing at what she does, but honestly that's all I can see. Do you know how much conidence it takes to sing that kind of songs when you're not that good at singing?
