Everyone has there idea, so....I would have gone with out the dash cuts outs (crap collectors), new dash pannel mount same as dash not edge extended. Lights mounted from the forks, but hay your work and design works great would not have thought of that approach. 👍👍👍

Hi Penny and Del - great video! Very nice fab work on the headlight bracket. Functional, rigid, lighter (by a little anyways) and all your own. I think it's a fantastic job. And as I record and I edit my own occasional videos I'm always mindful of the hard work ad specialized equipment that goes into yours. Really well done! Take care, dear friends. Be well and ride safe.

Del, if you know how to weld aluminum, and if you have equipment for welding aluminum, then obviously aluminum would weigh much less. Also, if you had steel pipes integrated into your bracket it was stronger and weighed less too. Aluminum 2024 or 6061 and there are other types, it is very suitable for your job. You can even made it from wood. The main material that airplanes were made of until World War II was wood😂

Feel free to forward me a TIG welder any time you have a spare one!!
@MyINNOVAMotorcycling
@MyINNOVAMotorcycling 7 днів тому
@@Moonfleet41 You don't have to weld. It is possible with rivets, or with screws and nuts. And I suggested working with pipes, pressing them at the ends, drilling holes at the ends, and that's how you can build trusses quite easily.

New title for Del...."The Steel Whisperer". 😁 Having your hands coax the steel to match the picture in your mind. Some serious skills there buddy. Seeing the original bracket vibrate took me back to working on the big trucks. Those big diesels at idle could shake anything to pieces. It took a lot of engineering to keep them in one piece. Many thanks, Del and Penny. Peace and good health. ❤👍👍
@Moonfleet41
@Moonfleet41 9 днів тому
Sure thing Rick, I trained as a bus and truck fitter a lifetime ago, and as you know, if you want to know why everything on trucks is built so solid and heavy, just take a look in the direction of the 13 litre engine humping away in the middle lol Have a great week there, and thanks for your constant support, it's appreciated, D&Px

Very interesting piece of work! The mount is simple and, as you say, unobtrusive. Nice. The MG grinder is a work of art and genius, and your demonstration of its use is fascinating. I greatly appreciate that it's designed and manufactured in England, which beautifully compliments your work. Thank you.

I'll have to say, your drafting skills are on par with your metal working skills. I like the one piece upper setup, I'm sure it made it a lot easier than two separate pieces and getting them to align up and welded.

I really like the bracket, functional, weighs less, and kinda has an industrial/stealthy look to it like the rest of the bike. Smart thinking to weight the old bracket and the new, that way people can't complain about using steel :)
@Moonfleet41
@Moonfleet41 9 днів тому
Sure thing buddy, steel is so much stronger than aluminium, which is why it can be smaller and less obtrusive... in the early days, Hayabusas had aluminium tail sub-frames that would often crack under weight so they were upgraded to steel, ali isn't always the answer to everything!

'The Day the Lights Sat Still' - Y'know; there's room behind the V of that last bracket for an electric worm drive to lift 'Gort's visor/lamp guard up into that nice space just below the instrument deck. ('Dip beam' etc? - At the risk of your bike 'looking' a bit stoned, just drop the visor half-way! : )xx

Looking good, Del! I got a little chuckle when you weighed the OEM mount, then showed your new mount being lighter. That should stop at least some of the nay-sayers who complain that the steel bracket will be too heavy... But my guess is, you will still get the odd troll who mentions the weight, thereby outing themselves as people who comment without watching... But hey, the ol' algorithm doesn't care if they have a clue or not... A view is a view, a comment is a comment, and a twit who complains without watching is still a twit. God loves stupid people too!
