I have a feeling he might try to go in that direction with Charlie. In fact, this might be his ulterior motive in helping her run the hotel. Alastor seems to be paying attention to Charlie's every move. He carefully inspects her family picture. He lets her get away with not making a "proper" deal with him. He ignores Vaggie almost completely and does everything he can to keep her away from Charlie, and when Vaggie tries to approach her, Alastor pushes her away instantly. Also notice how Charlie doesn't really seem to mind him doing that, and here's the probable reason: Charlie is most likely extremely tired of hearing that her plans will never amount to anything. Vaggie seems cynical and realistic (bordering on pessimistic), and based on their interaction prior to the news segment, she often puts Charlie down by rejecting her wild ideas (mostly for her own good, or so Vaggie thinks). And here comes Alastor! Yeah, he doesn't really believe in Charlie's plan, and he clearly admits that he wants demons to fail (which essentially means he wants Charlie to fail), but he appears to be the first person to express any sort of visible enthusiasm and joy when it comes to Charlie's project, even if it's not entirely honest. The moment he's accepted into the whole thing, he starts bringing in new helpful staff, and then sings a song - something Charlie is very fond of doing herself, something that's in stark contrast to what Vaggie's been telling her all this time (life isn't a musical, hon). In other words, Alastor is doing for Charlie something that Vaggie doesn't seem to be into all that much - he makes himself appear just as wild and crazy as Charlie, and she probably sees a "kindered spirit" as far as that is concerned. Now, as to *why* Alastor would be interested in making Charlie like him - I think it's a part of the whole power play in Hell. Territorial disputes are painted as pretty important, it's all about power and control. Seeing how powerful Alastor is at this point, his only potential rival is Lucifer himself, but he obviously can't just go and fight the ruler of hell out of nowhere. No matter how powerful Alastor might be against other demons and sinners, he's still a mortal soul, and Lucifer is a fallen angel - a being on an entirely different level. Thus, what is the best way of ensuring your unquestionable domination in hell under these circumstances? It's becoming a part of the family, by getting into a relationship with Charlie and then going from there, gathering more and more power practically unchallenged until you're strong enough to take down Lucifer. Or, you could even use Charlie as leverage against him, if things don't go your way. At least that's what I *think* might be happening here. I seriously doubt Alastor is doing this just out of boredom, regardless of what he says to Charlie at this point.
