I will never understand why people dislike this guy. He has always tried his best to fight the best and always gave a good showing in the ring and never tried to make his fights boring and technical. Also he has a great personality. I just find it odd why people dislike him.

I like how Paul Williams fights, no matter what anyone says. He has a crowd pleasing style. But he NEEDS to work on his defense.

He’s the only fighter to beat Margarito WITH the loaded gloves (Mayweather retired to avoid Margarito when he looked invincible after the Cotto fight), he beat the shit out of Winky Wright and Lucas Mattheyse. The 2nd Martinez fight, yeah he kept that left low and Martinez was a hell of a fighter. People forget Williams also beat Martinez. He beat Cintron, he avenged the Quintana loss. Paul Williams was a bad MF in the ring. He’d have given anyone a problem including Mayweather cuz Floyd always relied on his reach which he wouldn’t have had. I always loved Paul b/c we have the same tall ectomorphic body type, but my man Damon used to always tell me he kept his left way too low. If he had fought Floyd before Martinez 2 Floyd definitely would have landed the same over hand right which was always a real good punch for Floyd. But it also could have looked like the Winky Wright fight. Its a shame about the accident but Williams could have beaten any welterweight of any era on the right night, or even 154. The Martinez loss remember was at middleweight. Paul wasn’t a true 160 & anyone can catch a haymaker but no one can say Paul didn’t have a chin. He lost to Lara also though in reality also, but he was kind of done by then.

I really hope that all that heart, that never say no attitude, that stubbornness to keep on fighting at all costs is translated into his new challenging life. Floyd had trouble with both Judah and Hatton in the early rounds, got caught by Mosley, got caught by Corley, etc. You also can't forget that Williams is a southpaw, with whom Floyd has had many problems. Floyd's shoulder roll deflects right hands, not lefts. Hell, Ortiz landed a couple left hands and he was barely punching. Now imagine Williams longer arms and constant punch flow. Very difficult style for Floyd to 'easily out-point or stop late'. lol

Williams has beaten every opponent he has faced. RESPECT

Let me tell you guys something..... Every athlete's works very hard to become an athlete. Athlete ain't easy work. Through pain, sweat, tears they become recoqnize as champion. Most people become an athlete so their mother father, family, love one can have a better life financially. IS A VERY HARD ROAD. Just seeing Paul goes through this make me cry. But I won't believe what the media say yet. PAUL IS A TRUE TOUGH ATHLETE. I WILL BELIEVE THAT HE WILL WALK AGAIN BUT NOT BOX AGAIN.

My favorite fighter of all time. I stand by the assertion that he is the only fighter of his generation who could have realistically beaten Mayweather. Not sure he pulls it off but his amazing length, activity, and power, and a lefty to boot for a guy at 147 gave Floyd his greatest threat imo. Paul Williams is 6'2 tall but yes - it is really a shame that he had to retire because of his motorcycle accident.

He does have a chance to walk The doctor that did the surgery on him said that they have had people with the same injurie that Williams has and they have been able to walk. So hopefully we see him back in the ring

Paul Williams isn't Thomas Hearns. Hearns was a more methodical technician who used his reach, Williams is an aggressive volume-puncher with size. Complete bum? A bum doesn't compile a 41-2 record. Martinez and Erislandy Lara are elite fighters, no shame in losing to either of them. You must also look at the intangibles in a Mayweather-Williams bout. Williams was a fast starter with his constant punch-rate while Floyd isn't the best starter.
