It would make sense if the DisplayPort cable configuration is used in those restaurants and fast food chains where they have the menus displayed on multiple LCD screens that are alongside each other. Sometimes you see 4 and 5 screens in a row next to each other. So it would make sense to use DisplayPort for the cable setup rather than individual video cables. Seems like that setup would use a lot less wiring and a lot less internal Hardware on the video source equipment.

Just the video I was looking for. Short, sweet, to the point about all the differences for these cables. Tried to connect a second computer DisplayPort adapter to dvi-d and no signal. Older monitor and or drivers and display management software etc. even the DVI-d to VGA port on monitor still don’t work. Now I’m beginning to understand that not everything on monitors is just plug and play, and learned some are bidirectional and others cables and connectors are one direction only, some older monitors WIN XP cannot support newer co liters running windows 10 enterprise etc. sheesh lots to learn for a so called simple dual monitor project I had at work. They basically need to buy a newer upgraded monitor with a displayport connector on both ends to max resolution output or daisy-chain additional monitors etc. Thanks. 😀

Which is part of the conspiracy and confusion. Unless they all match on all your equipment your best speed (picture resolution/frequency) will only be as fast as the component with the slower generation. In other words, your new HDMI 2.1 device will only display HDMI 1.4 quality.
@ryans413
@ryans413 4 роки тому
HDMI only has to versions 1.4 or 2.1 there where many cables in the beginning that offers different speeds like 2gb 3gb 6gb. Different bandwidths but all the cables were still 1.4 compatible with all other devices. Like the guy said HDMI 1.4 can do up to 4K at 30hz. It’s confusing but all HDMI cables now can do 4K 30hz they are all made the same and of you buy a cable that’s 2.1 then you can do 4K 60hz

(always wondered why they would put a USB type C on a video card, then I saw all the adapters and my mind was blown. I imagine in the future video cards could have half a dozen usb type C ports on it and you just buy a cable for what you need, thats pretty cool stuff. Welcome to dongle world I guess.
