Hi Guys -
This week I go on a solo overnight backpacking/ camping trip in northern Nevada. I go to the Virginia Range, set up my camp and make dinner. I tell the story from Bill of Arkansas one of the most frightening stories I've ever seen.. Bill had a horrifying encounter with a Bigfoot/ Sasquatch that haunts him to this day! Bill was hiking solo as a teenager in 1976 when a series of strange events lead to a frightening confrontation with a Sasquatch that ultimately saved his life!
Keep Hiking!!

Great story Chris,I've heard another story recently of a mountain biker who was racing down a mountain and rounding a curve on to a sudden steep incline and was suddenly visciously attacked by a huge mountain lion.He also virtually gave up expecting death because the cat had mauled him so bad and had him in a firm grip on the back of his neck and restricted his breathing.Just as he was fading a 9to 10 foot sasquatch appeared out of nowhere grabbed the lion with two huge hands lifted it above it's head and brought it down on its shoulders so hard it snapped it's spine instantly. The guy was similar to your guy where he was still conscious cause be had a rush of adrenaline. If that wasn't enough the guy said it took a look at him snarled took one leap over a huge boulder at the side of the trail and about 10 seconds later a female sasquatch appeared and it was then his mind and blood loss made him pass out.Next thing he remembers is being rushed to hospital in a EMT van.He asked the medic how they got to him and he said a ranger walked out of his cabin and he was lying just in front of him.Wow what a tale guys!!

Wow, amazing. I hear so many contradictory stories. I have no doubt that some Sasquatch eat people. When they knock on trees when there's a human around - that's the dinner bell! But I have also heard so many stories of Sasquatch rescuing folks or helping lost people find their way back, and helping women and children. It's so fascinating!

Some of the guys wouldn't even go in a certain area because there was something in there. Wow, intense! Firstly people, never wander on unstable log piles, for obvious reasons, secondly, I don't think a Squatch would reveal itself and free you from certain death only to then kill you, it sounds like it was debating with another about if it should assist or leave the human to his fate. Bill didn't try to steal the Sasquatch's deer that was in the tree. The loggers shot it and were going to take it. Did the Sasquatch show, through his rescue of Bill, his appreciation for that? That would really suggest even more cognition on the part of the Sasquatch. We know from other stories that Chris has told that those who offer food (fruit, etc) to them, get treated better by the Sasquatches.

THEY didn’t feel safe, so did not think it safe for a seventeen year old kid to be out there alone, even though he was armed. I think the Sasquatch broke the trees holding the logs in place and felt bad that the young fella was helpless and seriously injured, so he helped him by taking the logs off him. He said he felt better, that he knew I traveled allot and we lived in the country. He knew she had the security locked down when I was gone. Anyway, Mena, yeah, nice place. There are actually a few stories like this that you'll notice if you deep dive the subject and read older books and sighting reports. A lot of witnesses have reported being assisted or "saved" by a sasquatch. It's obvious these beings aren't inherently dangerous to humans any more than black bears. They aren't predators of humans or abducting people like some ignorant youtubers and authors like to promote.

AWESOME story. I totally believe this man. He has absolutely no reason to lie. This man was literally taking his last breath and experienced something no one else will ever go through in this lifetime. He saw something greater than anything he could have imagined. I pray he gets his wish to meet the one that pulled the tree off of him and can finally have his peace in this lifetime.

This is an incredible encounter that I've heard over the years multiple times but always secondhand. I've never heard him being interviewed b4 so your lucky Chris that he picked you. I've heard probably at least 100 encounters where these creatures have helped or saved injured people and less than 10 encounters where people have helped an injured sasquatch. I'm glad Bill's encounter was with a good Sasquatch. Can you imagine the strength of these creatures to lift trees like that or the numerous accounts where a sasquatch bent a rifle in half or like a pretzel. Thx, very, amazing, fantastic encounter story. Glad you made it out alive, I guess you weren't very much help at your aunt's house after this. What I would like to know is did he believe in sasquatch prior to this happening.

Hey Chris good to see you back hiking ! This story blew me away . I could hear the fear in Bill's voice and the desire to go back hoping for a face to face. He wants to show the thing it has no reason to fear him. Maybe doing that will take away the night terrors and everything else. Bill I just said a prayer for you in Jesus name. It was Jesus by your side keeping you alive. He allowed this to happen for a reason. I've stopped wondering and I've no fear just a flash here and there. My lack of fear comes from the blind faith that what happens in this world even if I'm killed I know I'm going to Heaven . There's only two places people go. That's easy for me because no matter what, I do not look at evil. Because I can't stand it. I know evil I've felt the attacks on me . When it starts I simply say In the Mighty name of Jesus Christ I command all evil to go straight to the feet of Jesus Amen. Evil has to leave when you take your God given authority over it . End of sermon. LOL Thanks for sharing. GOD bless you and your family.

@Base Camp Chris 😮😮 WOW!! Bill was darn lucky that the Sasquatch😊 was nice enough to see that he wasn't a threat and that didn't take the buck..I have been in Arkansas and the forest is huge, we have camped out there before but never heard anything out of the ordinary, just critters... I bet those loggers were spooked 😮😮about their fan belt and the buck being gone.. Maybe, the Sasquatch felt threatened by the loggers invading his territory... I don't think I would climb up those log piles, incredibly dangerous and it would be frightening and I would of been scared to death😢😢 Great Story, Chris!! This one is Awesome and I am going to share this one with a friend of mine...I have shared others but this one is truly terrifying... You Be Safe Out there Chris!!

Most people, in or out of Arkansas, don't know this but the geographical area around Mena, Arkansas is VERY strange. I worked for the state of Arkansas for many years and have investigated various businesses at that location. I still believe there were/are drug transfers going on at that location; but have no proof. I also believe the story you have just relayed. Those mountains are VERY remote and rough. A perfect place for a big foot. Thanks for bringing this encounter more attention.

I have heard over a dozen rescue stories of Sasquatch, often it is children that have wandered away from a forest camp and got lost and a usually female Sasqautch brings them back to just outside the camp, makes some noise and leaves the child. I am so glad that you let Bill tell his story, much more detail and one gets a good dose of his emotion over the ordeal, even over 45 years later. This is why I am a fan of the Sasqautch Chronicles which is now over 1000 episodes of interviews. I have come across a few sites where a narrator states the story like reading a book. A good many are so fantastical and written as if by a polished author writing a book, I know damn well they are made up stories, and this is a shame. It does this community no good. It's too bad this incident created PTSD with Bill and I feel for him. I myself being 20 in 1976 and an outdoorsman and hunter in Mid Michigan, we never heard of Sasquatch in our areas, only that they may be in the Pacific NW, thanks to Roger Patterson and Bob Gimlin. However I respect and like that he would like to get close again to one and try and interact. I too have this wish, as the one I saw was just too far away, and same year 1976, Roscommon County, MI. In my mind I have no doubt this group of Sasquatch would have soon gotten the trees off Bill. And one would probably have carried him down to the loggers, made some kind of noise and left him for the crew to take care of. Or just left him on the road, staying close, knowing the crew would be by on their way out, but thank God the crew came soon so the rescue and life saving could happen. And Bill - I know the area you grew up. I lived on Alexis Road in 1980 and 81 by the Sherman Williams store, which was a house at that time.
