as much as i would have preordered the game had i known about it , and as much as i would love that armor, i don't want them to add it now, they can add a lot different ones in the future, i do hope they add "sponsored" armors though, as in corporation in lore ones. or irl ones

I had the armor on thinking it was a normal armor anyone could get. People kept asking me where I got it until finally someone told me it's because I pre-ordered. Now it's the only one I use....

First of all, the ship is massive. Across the armory is an entire terminal that is unused, that could be used to provide news and updates on the war etc. And when it comes to planets and MO then yeah. As a player that is currently capped on everything, dailies and major orders provide no incentives for me other than narrative. And when that narrative isn't any good. (Defend 10 planets in 6 days is meh). I opt to go to planets that I want to go to instead. The other issue is that the "defend planets" are far too many and spread out, and the amount of regular planets too means it spreads even further. There is no possible way to unite the Helldivers in game, as there is no information, and no real incentives to push for certain planets. Now there's 2 days left and we are 4/10 planets defended. We have no chance in hell to complete it. Which would be fine if the major order didn't take 6 bloody days.

An in-game system that can help rally helldivers during a major order would help. I know in game, when a planet is under attack and needs defending, there is an announcement of sorts. We need something similar from high command telling us this is the current plan. Another thing that could help is have a terminal, maybe the Bureau Terminal across from the Armory, where the playerbase can votes for a planet that should be liberated/defended and it updates the galactic map with like a big shiny arrow that tells everyone that the specific planet has been chosen to be liberated/defended.

That’s already in the game it literally explains what’s happening what we need to do and shows and tells you what planets and sectors need attention. You mean you want a button that you can hit that takes you straight to a planet huh?

Not just a button though. Right now the major order is to defend 10 different planets. We are more likely to defend each planet if we focus on one at a time. I think he is asking for a system to help coordinate priority when there are multiple planets that are part of the major order.

Just an in game chat system, if you ask ten people to defend a planet to protect certain supply lines then maybe 5 or 6 of them will help defend. The others will just go on and play the game their own way. While we can’t have every single person help, just a few because of an in game chat service would help significantly.

​​@@wadablewads I mean, that'd just be functionally railroading if it were high command (the GMs) who picked what the planets should be focused, and if they really wanted to do that, they wouldn't make a "Defend X planets" mission, they'd use a "Hold control until MO expires" order. And if it were controlled by the players, it would just mirror the helldivers on planet count.

Honestly, I hate the way "defend" works. It shouldn't be a timer and then you just _lose._ It should be a timer and you *win.* And the rate of conquest against us could be adjusted based on the current narrative. But there _could_ always be a few planets on defend where you only need 5-10% of the population to defend. And that way you'd always have access to defense type missions too. Honestly, another thing that feels bad is the Liberation effort on planets with low population where they're pulling in exactly the same % as the reclamation % of that faction or even less. Making their efforts 100% pointless. They could literally move this mechanic over as the defense mechanic where parity or even slightly less is a win condition. And then their efforts would not be in vain.

I encountered a lvl 1 with the yogurt armor just yesterday while training unfortunate new recruits who picked a retrieve personnel on Marfark as their 1st mission as a Helldiver.

lib % should comprise missions won, samples collected(three tiers), side objectives completed, super credits(found) and raid missions if they ever do something like that. Mission failures, and (by a very minuscule %) Helldiver deaths could reduce lib %. The target numbers for each category could be kept secret for by Arrowhead and could change depending on the planet. The targets could even fluctuate while a planet is being liberated - like each time a player finishes a mission with 0 deaths the super credit target could go down but if heaps were dying the target could go up. Players would still keep their samples and credits but behind the scenes it contributes to the war effort

Well the thing is in HD1 we did eventually either win or lose the war. You even got a different cape depending on which happened. So I am kind of disappointed that HD2 wants to be a forever war. Finally knocking out a faction was a great feeling in HD1, even if I knew once the war was over they'd come back in the next one.

I disagree. Knocking out a faction in Helldivers meant weeks, potentially months of reduced enemy variety. Not to mention, the factions people actually liked fighting would be knocked out first. What this usually meant is that wars would drag on forever fighting nothing but Cyborgs, whom people didn't like on average. I was afraid this would happen when we wiped out the Automatons in Helldivers 2. Glad that wasn't the case, because we already don't have that much in the way of enemy variety.

I agree, was super annoyed that the bots came back so fast after we defeated them and immediately fell into a mindset of ignoring general orders and just doing whatever I wanted after realizing that this would just be a continuing cycle and we wouldn’t get victories like HD1

@@Malidictus There are pros and cons to both systems. Like the other reply said it really sucked that we defeated the bots just for them to come back basically hours later. However I also do remember in HD1 "Oh good, just the illuminates left..." It's a pick your poison situation but I'd rather our progress meant something but I can see how people could prefer a forever war. I was hoping the bots being gone would lead to the Illuminate invasion and the bots could reemerge a week or so later once the shininess of the new faction wore off.

@@patchesgaming9139 There were never stakes to begin with. Helldivers is not a strategy game. It's an arcadey third-person shooter. I can't find the post right now, but that came from one of the developers or community reps. The Galactic War is a framing device to give context to the core gameplay. I'm not opposed to having it nor caring about it. What I'm opposed to is negatively impacting the actual core gameplay for the sake of the campaign. Imagine for a second that the Automatons attacked our ammunition supply lines, so for the next three weeks we could only ever use energy weapons and non-ballistic Strategems. Removing the Automatons is - in my opinion - on the same level as that. And more to the point - looking for immersion in Helldivers is barking up the wrong tree, in my opinion. Helldivers is sci-fi Magicka. That is to say, it takes itself just seriously enough to not be an outright parody, but not seriously enough that dumb shit doesn't still happen. The new Terminid Containment system was supposed to stop the bugs. Instead, it made them more aggressive and introduced flying bugs. Wiping out the Automatons was supposed to remove them from the board. Except they came back even stronger. It's the plot to Heavy Weapon: Atomic Tank. Long story short: the setting supports a perpetual war where none of our victories are decisive, removing factions from the map makes the core game significantly less fun to play. I don't see that as a particularly controversial take.

I pick planets based on how irritating the planet conditions are. I never fight on the planets that give you one less Strategem slots, for example.

Helldivers (1) had "Enemy Master strikes". Rewarding 150 war influence upon completion. They were basically a single-mission planet/operation and successful completion could take anywhere from 2.5 minutes (even solo) to over 30 minutes of entire squad. You had 4 hours to complete it upon starting the offence (first try), but unlocking it every time required getting 50 influence across the sector (which there only one open at a time, so technically entire race..?) including multiplayer (tho obv exclusing boss strikes..). Regular planet rewards were up to difficulty-level*missioon count, so 3-starring lvl15 planet (of 3 missions) gave 45, but that required a bit more expertise - so most planet completions were ~20-30 influence per 30mins+ (to give context how much 150 were)

I think a big thing is that people don't realize - XP is what counts toward total liberation. Devs or community managers have confirmed this places. This is information you can't find in the game and also it always just shows up as a small percentage tick for your team once the whole 3 missions are completed. Maybe if they kept a running total on your ship somewhere of the exact percentage of liberation you've provided to certain planets or major orders people would feel their impact more?

From my understanding when the level cap was raised, the devs mentioned the more XP gained (higher difficulties especially) per mission, the higher liberation you personally give to the effort.

Pre-order exclusives really irritate me. Nowadays, pre-ordering a game is asking to be ripped off because nobody knows if a game is going to really be worth the money until plenty of people have played and reviewed it. Not having a disposable income means pre-ordering is an even bigger gamble. Edit: To be clear, I love Helldivers 2 and I think they’ve done a great job with what they have at their disposal overall. I do have my gripes here and there, but my opinion I think is a net-positive.

I really wanted that blue armor, I'd be willing to buy DLC for it since its the ONLY blue armor in the game, and I feel like it's cool to have your squads have identifiable colors, but Pre-order is just... well you wouldn't KNOW it's going to be worth it, you could very well be spending 60$ on skyrim horse armor, or be getting Deep-rock levels of bang for your buck. Separate random gripe, that account linking could've been handled way better, maybe a free warbond if you linked an account, or just 500 super credits or something, some incentive TOO good to pass up, forcing it made ALOT of people mad.

This is exactly how campaigns in Helldivers 1 worked pretty much. I think the rewards were one time things for finishing/participating in any campaigns though.

The blue lasers on Pelican 1 are the same thing that happens when you shoot a charger with a laser cannon. The laser will shine off like that.

Here's a major order idea : one that if completed- changes the quality of ammunition for a gun? Like the adjudicator getting more damage and less recoil? Then make the gun affected change with the planet?

I understand many people believe the pre-order armors should remain so, but hear me out. What if AH released them as a DLC? (Wait for it..) 1# It would allow those of us (like myself) who were unaware/unsure about the pre-order to obtain them. #2 It would allow for more armor customization options. 3# Importantly, it would support AH/Helldivers 2 allowing for more/better/faster - content/bug fixes. And finally: #4 In the end, aren’t we all here to enjoy the game and share it with others? Why should we gatekeep something we enjoy from those who share our interests? -Happy Helldiving!

I think the “defend 10 planets” was a panic major order due to how fast we completed the “kill 2 billion bugs” order. With them giving us 5 days for that one, they must have expected to get at least a day or 2 before we finished it 😂 but nah, we cracked.

What they could do to make it feel like an individual group is making a difference is make a system like deep dives from deep rock just slam 3 operations together and if your squad completes it you get a crazy amount of medals squad impact and samples

Well imo I think you can impact even with smaller numbers. The problem is their are others that are not as experienced hurting the major order planets/planets being liberated by lower numbers that go in and fail missions, which impacts faster/harder than you liberating.

I remember in hell divers 1 the difficulty went from 1 to 15. 15 being the inner circle of hell, and liberation for completing those missions were incredibly high. On to of this. there used to be final boss missions, where you'd fight these massive enemies of each faction. Such as the hive lord for the Bugs.

They should make slightly different, knock-off versions of each of those pre-order armors. Something that allows people to get that armor for the aesthetic and still allowing the people who did pre-order to have something special. They earned it. First bit of FOMO in the game and everyone goes nuts.

The idea of not feeling my actions are significant is simple to explain In planetside 2, we could fight for a capture point for a week straight, but manage to get ONE cloaker behind enemy lines. If that cloaker can sabotage the enemy vehicle spawners, we get a far easier fight and can turn the tide. That one soldier did that for us. His effort was gargantuan and rewarded. Then look at heldivers. For 6 hours of my work ive added 0.00000000000002 to the war effort. Screw that with a rusty stick. Now im just a percentage? Not even a soldier?

I've had two days in a row of running entire Suicide Mission ops with randos, no major bugs or crashes, smooth sailing, trying to get those defends done. Looking like we might do at least 6/10 before the MO expires. Which is not bad. I feel if the community had managed to coordinate we could have done 10/10, but honestly I don't care. Automatons are creeping back towards the Creek, and that will be worth a billion memes if they ever do push us back all the way to Space Vietnam.

I'm my opinion each planet should have a couple bench marks unique to each planet instead of being all or nothing. So let's say hellmire. That's a source of economy for super earth because we farm 017 there. What if 10% ownership of the planet gave a 5% increased requisition gain on nearby planets. 40% ownership gave an extra 5% mission duration as our ships are able to travel nearby more efficiently. 80% gives an increased chance to spawn grenades and ammo on the map. Just small buffs that affect nearby planets to make attacking the "wrong" planet sometimes feel like the right choice. To make incomplete liberation's still feel impactful to the war front. To allow smaller numbers of players to feel more like they can contribute. To allow players who just don't want to fight a specific faction to be a credit to team. Could also include negatives, so a failed defense could really give the bots a boost or whatever and make the community really feel it.

If you data mine the game you see armors that have muscles like sleeveless or whatever and then theres this really cool one that looks like a hunter with teeth and claws on it even a little paw I can't wait till they release those. Btw the preorder armors are decent I usually run the white one because it comes the perk democracy protects there's also a twitch armor that a lot of us missed out on because lack of communication with the community from the devs.

Because the liberation/defend algorithm is a black box and there is zero information in game to help the player make an informed decision, I still have zero motivation to care about the Major Orders. Whether I participate or not, I get rewarded (assuming the major order is won). Whether I spend all weekend fighting on a planet or not, nothing changes come Monday.

The major thing i think people need to realize is that they need to be prepared to lose. It's the number one thing I've been worried about since the beginning. And i mean, more than just an order, I mean lose ground and lots of it. When the illuminate get in this and its a three front fight, do people honestly think we are gonna be able to hold the majority of the map?

you know what I'd like to see, put into the game, that's crazy !? imagin this happens 1 in 20 or 50 missions. your team is getting ready to extract but as the pelican comes down, it gets swatted out of the sky by either a Ginormus robot or bug and the comms say, take out extraction threat before new extraction is available. and I'm talking like hard! something that's equivalent to the health pool of 5 factory striders, hits like a 2 Bile Titans And calls in like 2 or 3 bot drops/bug breaches every 3 minutes.

Liberation wise, if the there is a galactic mission and the vast majority of players go elsewhere, that mean the game design is broke. They need to figure out why the galactic mission system isn't enough to entice players, and they need to figure out why some players do not want to fight on some planets (I can only take so much Hellmire). Maybe the rewards need to change, I don't know. Another idea I got while typing this: sometimes a two planet six-day defense mission gets old and people want a change of scenery. Maybe galactic missions should be region based or shorter length time, so players do not play on the same dusty planet for a week. Also, galactic mission rewards should only go to the people that participate, like an in game "percent of mission play time fighting the major order".

Would be great if higher difficulties did give more liberation. Taking out tougher enemies, destroying the enemy impacts them more than some weak enemies on level 1

They do. It was confirmed by the devs through Spitz that Liberation works based on XP gains. The more XP you gain the more Liberation you contribute. A full team of four clearing the map on a level 7 completing all objectives, destroying all enemy camps, and a full extraction plus difficulty multipliers will give enough XP on a single mission to match a solo player spamming 5 level 1 missions. And if those missions are done in a set, there's a cumulative bonus to liberation meaning the third level 7 in a set is equal to 8+ level 1 missions. In short, the more damage you do and the more people you bring home actually matters.

Hey man i don't know if you read these but on the defend mission with the robots the ATV large robot can shoot the generator that shoots the missiles and its insanely annoying, like the arge bot never breaks the second gate and takes out the generator

I think there should be a stacking buff, the more campaigns you finish on a planet the more it contributes to the war effort each time, wouldnt affect the planets with lots of players but would reward the ones who sit on a planet trying to defend it hard (like malevelon creek)

4:43 the way planet side 2 delt with this problom over its 3 maps. Is that each map actualy provided a bonus for objectives being completed on it. Like if players took a bunch of factorys on the snow planet. Everyone in that faction gets cooldown bonus's to veicles and such. You could debuff the other 2 factions by takeing objectives on the three huge maps that applyed bonuses faction wide basicly. Also takeing things like bridges actualy gave legit tactical advantage in the early days becouse to even capture things on the otherside of the pit you would either have to go under the bridge. or fight across it. so whatever faction controled the bridges had serouis power.

Of those 3 Pre Order Armors, I only ever really used the Cavalier and sometimes the Ambassador of the Brand (they stand out and look nice), the Knight armor is pretty BLAND by comparison.

The little things that add in the game is crazy I was in a impossible mission and a point of interest was a grave site in that grave site there was a maggot eating a dead body and we killed the maggot and we got a sample from it

The impact on the war has to do with the xp you earn on that planet. So the higher difficulties have a greater impact, its way i see impact score of 6 instead of 3

your exp earned does affect your liberation contribution. Therefore, higher difficulty does mean more impact

tbh, once you cap out of everything, the only thing that matters is exp and SC. Major orders, dailies, don't really give out any of those so most veterans will run whatever.

Ive wanted to preorder but poor most of the time so when my friend bought this for me a couple weeks after launch I was excited to play with them (: I still am, I want to be a blue power ranger too haha but that armor is sought because its so unique.

maybe the ai push back could be much more limited on planets where there is no campaign active and potentially allow a few thousands to make serious progress, to then have a huge resistance wave pushing back requiring the coordinated attack of an order or liberation campaign. but we're really being picky here, I guess it's fun trying to liberate Berlin or survive Normandy by your self in a video game, but in reality there's little progress you can make without coordinated attacks. having us liberate planets with just a few 1000s would mean factions can also take our planets much faster, and that will destroy the pace

id say just have a recolor of the armor its best of both worlds people who preordered gets the cool blue while us get a different color one that has different stats but has the same silhouette of the preorder armor

I didn’t even know the blue amour was a thing... I haven't even seen a single person wearing this blue armour and I've put 160+ hours into Helldivers 2 already. I get the whole pre order "reward" thing but at the same time how can I pre order something if I've never heard about Arrowhead let alone anything remotely related to Helldivers. I only heard about Helldivers 2 after it blew up out of nowhere. For a company that's against FOMO I hope they make it earnable during a limited time event. Heck I'd even be willing to pay for it.

As someone who currently owns every weapon and piece of armor in the game (except for the deluxe version smg and armor set), this really bugs the hell out of me. Sure, PC kids can use an unlock tool to get these armor sets, but I believe in getting them all the legit way. You know through actually PLAYING the game. They look so sick as well.. really wish I had preordered!!! 😡

I hope they patch the thing where automatons can shoot through rocks and walls. Have run into that too many times. You think running behind a big rock would break line of sight and stop enemy bullets, but nah, they just shoot you through it

i think something like a percentage differnt in difficulty for more effective liberation would be viable for instance difficultly 1-3 2% 4-6 5% and 7-9 10% something roughly like that could work welll and would motivate you to get to higher diffculty levels to make more impact .the same way drops are given out per difficulty level common , rare and super rare. low impack medium impact high impack etc.

@@HasekuraIsuna or maybe have a system of percentage of liberation based on specific missions like for the defence mission of the high values assets the missle silos , that might be better that way players wouldn’t be looked at that way . There’s good and bad to these therretical ideas though without testing it’s hard to say if it’ll work

I absolutely agree with the sentiment that it feels like you're wasting time by going on planets without a strong player presence. My issue with it isn't even that we aren't contributing to the major order, it's just that it literally is wasted effort. While it should feel amazing to spread democracy on a planet where you're vastly outnumbered, instead it feels disheartening to know you only added 0.0000003% and that it will amount to absolutely nothing.

That has to do with Decay rate. Every hour the percentage of a contested planet will be affected by a set decay rate to simulate the enemies fighting back to retain control of the planet. The bugs are typically set at 1% while the bots are set to .5%. So the bugs will claw back 1% per hour of a contested planet while the bots will claw back .5%. What did you think the enemy was going to lie back and take it while we pounded on them? These decay rates can be manually adjusted by Joel to simulate narrative events. IE during Swift Disassembly III, the decay rate for the bots was set to 1.5% which made liberation virtually impossible without 150-200k players on a planet. But since Defense Campaigns are not affected by Decay rate it was much easier for us to defend which is what SD Phase III was all about. After we succeeded on Phase III, the bots 'ran out of steam' and the decay rate was set to 0.0%. This made the final push ridiculously easy.

@@graveyardshift6691 I know it has to do with the decay rate. It doesn't change the fact it makes it feel bad. Again, makes it pointless to fight anywhere but in where the collective decided to park. Don't take me wrong, it's still fun, and I'm glad they give us the option to go fight where we want. It's just unrewarding. Personally makes me just want to ignore the galactic liberation.

@@medmelancholy I suppose that's the point of the personal order but once you've got the warbonds that kind of loses it's meaning since that's something you can do on a personal level but it's not really narrative changing. In some ways, that's just the hard limitation of a cooperative live service game. Once your personal progression is maxed out there's not to do but wait until the next warbond.

Wait a second. If there's a major order let's say to defend a bot planet, and because more people prefer bugs, how can going to the planet with the highest players impact the major order when it's on a bug planet? I see this all the time where planets that are actually notated in the major order are simply being ignored because players want to do what they want. I think arrowhead need to create a system that incentivizes players for following the orders (if you take the game seriously you should do this) and creates perhaps more difficult situations - one less stratagem or increased call in times, or worse rewards for players who just want to play the way they want. This is obviously a divisive subject, but the core focus of the game is simulating a galactic war, and if we think about it from a warfare perspective, ignoring major orders is akin to mutiny, carrying severe punishments. There are plenty of casual shooters where it really doesn't matter what you do as the story outcome will remain the same, but this is not one of them. I hope arrowhead comes up with a good solution to this, one that unites players who are invested in the main narrative, but yet still offers a fun experience for those players who don't give a flying F about helping their fellow divers, albeit with perhaps different reward paths.

You do get more liberation credit for playing on Helldive difficulty. You get 3 from a normal campaign on lower difficulties and 6 from a Helldive difficulty. I haven't confirmed it, but apparently 5 staring all 3 Helldive missions gives you more then 6 liberation progress.

@@trinityprentice8221 What was the difficulty? If you were on Helldive, you probably 5 starred each mission. That's what I've been told will give you 12, but usually on 1 of the missions, someone doesnt evac so we usually only get 6

i say keep the armor as a pre order only, i dont have it and i doubt id ever use it if i did have it beyond occasional novelty. no point in making a special armor for the true helldiver veterans free for all of us who hopped on after the band wagon got going

It can, but the way the defence or liberation works, if there are only like 8000 people on one planet, they won’t get enough combined liberation %age to counteract the bots/bugs fighting back

While i agree that the pre order armer should stay exclusive. Even though id love to have it yet sadly didnt keep up with upcomig games to know about this one. But alternatively i really hope to be able to get a bit more color in our suits The blacks yellows greys and military green/tan. (As well as medic suits white armor with green undersuit) Is cool and all. I definitely enjoy the kinda seriousness of the uniforms. But man id like to have some blue and maybe purple. We got some red. Maybe if they add a new bioms that give off pandora (Avatar) color vibes would be cool. Then having armor in the color of the fauna would make sense and look awesome

I understand that the large community would prefer to have these skins out for everyone but this was supposed to be an incentive to pre-order. It's a bit of a slap in the face for those who took significantly bigger risk than anyone else that jumped to the crusade after they found out it was actually a decent game. If they wanted to have these skins out for everyone do not make them "exclusive " or have a pre order bonus to begin with but that's modern gaming for you I suppose.

We can lose some battles but win the major orders at the same time. Just have 10 planets being invaded and set the order to be successfully defended 5. We still lose some planets to the invasion but completed the order. Cause now I just don’t bother the play the invaded planets cause I know I’m going to fail which brings me out of the narrative.
