I'm in Tampa and drive a 2002 Toyota Camry GXE with 150k miles. Bought it in 2010 from orginal owners with about 65k miles on it. Sometimes I wish this car would give me trouble so considering a new car would be more of a rational decision. But the truth is this vehicle is so completely reliable and trouble free. I would get in it right now and drive it to California and back without thinking twice.

Daniel, same here - 2021 Tundra. Not so much of a lead foot, getting about 15 in town, can get 20 mpg on the highway if its in a flat area. 10 -11 mpg towing a 3500 lb. I dont think so. the only piece that will always fail is the bearing and the cost of fixing it shouldnt be more than $1,500.00 and it lasts like 250,000Miles. That's if its a Made in Japan Turbo by IHI.
@JebemTiZivot
@JebemTiZivot Місяць тому
@@kiyoshim9593Ehhh, most turbo engines last 150k miles tops imo, few make it past that point, they wear out the engine faster, which if youre driving a regular car that only has about an 150k lifespan thats whatever but if you want a reliable car thats gonna last you 300k miles or something, you dont want a turbo, hence why tocoma people were upset about the gen 4 being a turbo 4c instead of a V6.

I love my Tundra trucks, and my T100 was an excellent truck as well. My pair of 2002 Tundra trucks both have the 4.7L V8, one is 4x4 and both have about 190,000 miles. I just added a nice 2006 4X2 4.7L Sequoia with 315,000 miles to the stable, it needs timing belt and valve cover gasket service. I also have the smallest and lightest 5.7L 4x2 Tundra made, unfortunately the 2007 needs head gasket replacement at 315,000 miles. I have no interest in any of the TT V6 Tundra trucks.

Don't forget, the newer Tundras are blowing engines (spinning bearings), that problem hasn't completely been resolved. It has been reported in over 48 engines, and even in the 2023 models. The fix is 10 weeks in the shop, new lower half engine and full rebuilt where they take the entire cab off the frame, install new engine/rebuild/reinstall cab. Freaking bonkers. All of Toyotas new turbo lineup and redesigns, stay away until they prove themselves again. I've got the old 5.7L iforce V8 in my 2008 sequoia, 230k and still going strong.

Your not wrong in the spun bearings, I had to replace the lower end along with other engine parts due to metal particles contaminating certain engine parts. Just a lot of extra crap they shoved in there, Toyota should have kept the v8 as a lower trim option

@roymeyer6837
@roymeyer6837 Місяць тому
Another way I've looked at mine (an '08 that I bought used with low mileage last year) is in terms of how many miles/years it has left to give, per dollar that it cost me. ISeeCars did a study where I think the top 10 vehicles would cost under $1700 per every 10k miles you get out of them. Mine would be half that, if it only lasts to less than 300k miles. It wouldn't be unheard of for it to make it much longer than that! If it's like the Tundras I know of that have lasted to 400k or even 500k miles, it could end up having a cost like $375 per 10,000 miles. It may not, but even if it died at 250k it would be under $1000 per 10,000 miles. There are many better ways of looking at vehicles than how people do by default. It's not how many miles are on the clock, it's how many useful miles it has left! It's not the cost of an isolated repair once in a blue moon, it's how much you're saving by not having to make a payment for 20 years.

My Tundra is a 2008 with the 5.7L. Only has 86k on the clock (I got it a year ago with 74k). Had dealership maintenance records going back to brand-new so I was able to track the mileage and it really was that low. It was well cared for with only one previous owner, and runs like a top. So I wouldn't be surprised if it's still on the road after quite a few of the twin-turbo V6s have given up the ghost with far fewer miles on them than the V8 Tundras were able to rack up. My prediction is, with so many vehicles going to underpowered engines that get boosted to make them feel powerful enough, we're moving back to the days where 100,000 miles is all we expect out of a new vehicle. Yet we're paying more for them than ever before. I hope Toyota can find a way to make them reliable, but if so I think that will only come with time and possibly a few bad generations of vehicles first.

Scotty I had one of those for 3 weeks (rental) and I was really taken back by the lack of quality. Plastic EVERYTHING, chrome delaminating, plastic interior pieces already cracking; just a hallow driving experience. I was not impressed compared to my 2015 Sequioa, it was night and day from a quality perspective. And the turbo lag was absolutely insane. My work truck is a F-150 with a 3.5L turbo, and it has better responsiveness and better MPG. Which pains me to admit that being a Ford hater and a Toyota fanboy. But you have to be honest. Toyota really missed the mark on this one IMHO.
