These are concepts that feel so alien and impossible and to have this sort of stuff showcased in such a great way is great beyond words. I first watched Mumbo's video and when I saw what was happening I was like: "I know Doc does crazy stuff, but this, this is just on another level.". This makes me believe that you could set up several portal stations around the server and each one having a unique item slot on the hotbar to go to it. Ender Pearl Portal at the base, One at the Mine, One at the OCTAGON, etc. Use the item on the hotkey for that portal and BAM

The great thing is that once you have "duplicated" a stack (or at least, the link to it in an inventory), you can still move the stack that remains in the chest or hopper and give it to someone else. I'm pretty sure you can "shadow" a stack that was already duplicated, sharing the same items in three (or more) different locations.

This just blew my mind. It is a game changer... I really like the idea of renting out the ability. Say 5 diamonds for the first slot, 10 for the second, 15 for the third... So you're just renting a wirelessly connected inventory slot. And if a hermit wants 3 linked slots, then you get 30 diamonds! If they mess it up you can charge a reconnection fee of one diamond.

Boatem is still building the backs of some of their mountains, and tango is still making the inside of the FiFi's cave. Not too late to rent infinite inventory, Doc!

Mojang would be insane to patch this. This is the peak of redstone ingenuity and no one who worked on coding redstone could have ever anticipated the power they created. A thing of true beauty. You could carry a mending bow with "infinity" by linking to a chest full of arrows. Including the tipped and spectral arrows... This is huge

Instead of "fixing" it, Mojang should embrace this and make it something much easier to do -- having a linked inventory would eliminate a LOT (if not all!) of the clamor for larger inventory spaces. Imagine just having a single block you could craft (probably with a hefty recipe cost in terms of items) that would link a chest that sat atop it to your inventory... and then hopper feeding a bulk storage of whatever blocks you're building with into it! That would be huuuge! o.O

Hey doc! So I was doing a bit of thinking regarding what all I'd put into the three different machines (Expeller, injector, & equalizer. These are the terminologies I'm using for them haha!). My first thought was obviously have an injector for food. When I started thinking about it a little bit my original food choice was cooked chicken. For easy reasons for being able to set up a chicken farm. However chicken farms can take time to get stocked up thanks to the egg creation time, the egg probability, and grow up time. My thoughts quickly lingered over to honey bottles! Now bare with me, there would be multiple perks in going with honey. 1) Easy farm to set up and can scale up or down depending on the demand. Considering the minimum amount of beehive harvest time, could potentially be as fast as 3m & 20s per hive. Least from this math, 5 levels per harvest * 2 minutes per level / 3 bees buzzing happily = 3m 20s per harvest. (Chicken farms use a lot of probability, 1/8 per egg and if chick spawns 1/32 to get 3 more chicks. Which is why I'd use bees instead since I like consistency.) 2) Bees can work 24/7 while in the loaded chunks in the Nether side of a chunk loader. Along with a significant less amount of entities compared to a chicken farm. 3) Could set up a drainer for empty bottles, recycling those bottles back into the system! 4) Honey bottles when used as food can clear poison effects and fill 6 hunger points. Along with being able to eat with a full hunger bar (Although I just saw it takes 25% longer to eat and has a pretty low saturation. For comparison, golden carrots at 14.4, cooked chicken at 7.2, and honey bottle being 1.2. Perhaps the pros can outweigh the cons?). 5) Be able to craft sugar and honey blocks wherever you might be. Thought I'd share my thoughts! It's probably what I'll do once 1.18 comes out and I get my system all set up for all this. Also a note regarding unstackables like potions, tools, and such. They can become shadow items, however in my testing since it is used up it can't be replenished via these machines. So probably the only use of shadowed unstackables would be to trigger another machine like an ender-porter. The circuit would only have to be water (where the pearl is), trapdoor, comparator, inventory block with shadowed unstackable. That way the trapdoor would be open while the item is in the inventory. Once the item is gone the trapdoor closes, activating the pearl. Granted in order to reset the system, would have to create a new shadowed unstackable, which could be a bit annoying. With this I'll most likely have an equalizer for arrows. I've been a real holdout with using infinity. Now I'd be able to have both infinity and mending in a way! Hmmm... auto cook wet sponges and return cooked sponges. Bdubs infinite clocks... Too many possibilities... Edit: Possible gear saving? Say you die and go to the location of where your saved shadowed gear is and pick it up. Now I've got to test this... Yup! I shadowed enchanted gear, tools, and weapons. Plopped one set into a barrel, equipped the other set. Teleported far away, died, spawned back and shift clicked all the shadowed items back into my inventory. (note: when I died, I fell into the void cause I forgot the layer my test world is made of glass, thought it was barrier blocks. Possibility to save those Boatem people their gear if they fall into their boatem hole!)

If you throw the pearl directly up you could be teleported back to your base, quickly splash a bunch of potions/put on armour/etc... and then when the initial pearl hits the ground you're taken back to the place where you threw it. Like a blink spell in DnD 5e if you're familiar. From an opponents POV you simply vanish, then reappear with a bunch more gear 5 seconds later. Absolutely phenominal

You could pull off a pretty cool magic trick with this... Get a Hermit to put a named item into a chest in your base that you don't get to see. Then meet them at the top of a mountain. Throw an Enderpearl off the mountain. Your dropped enderpearl will not only trigger your teleporter, but also to drop the item from their chest onto your head. Then the original pearl you threw will land, and you'll be able to present them with their item. Mind-blowing magic tricks!

This could be used to auto smelt wet sponges you pick up and then put the dry ones back into your inventory!

Please make a special bed for Bdubs, tell him he can only use this one, take it away before he tries to put it down to sleep in it. He will go nuts!

Certain aspects of creative mode are always unattainable in survival. You can get a lot of items, but you still need to refill your inventory when you run out. You've finally surpassed even this. Incredible.

Change the "Super Sucker" to keep the stacks at 32 items. Then it can be used for both, mining and building.

"Octacloud Services" sounds good. Definitely create a business with this technology. It's more interesting for your channel, you'll get rich, and if other Hermits want to set up the technology, they can easily study it and set it up themselves. Evil Xisuma is probably already working on it.

Hey doc, Here are a few applications of this new game mechanic. 1. You can use it to help with inventory problems when going for netherite mining. You get too much netherrack, gravel, quartz, gold etc, and you might want to save these things for later. So can you show how to sync half of our inventory [ with the super sucker 9000 ]. 2. You can use it to save your diamonds/valuables when going for mining [super sucker 9000]. This way you don't end up dying in lava and loosing all your diamonds/valuables. 3. Sand Mining [ as you told ] 4. To move items from you farms in other parts of the world into your storage rooms [super sucker 9000 again] . For this you can have a few synced inventory slots with the items you are farming. And then go there and break the chest so that you collect everything and automatically get transferred. 5. Long distance travel . For both food and rockets 6. Large scale builds 7. Restocking you shops. 8. You can use the teleportation device to escape from burning to death in lava and loosing your stuff. 9. You can also use the teleportation device to escape from other players during PvP. 10. Tell Mojang to not patch this because this is game changing. 11. Enjoy the Advantages of having this thing. 12. I can't think of anything else right now. i love how varying the hermits are. some just love builds that tell stories, some are perfectionists with their builds, some love to cause chaos in the form of prankage, some love grindy tasks, some love building massive redstone-based farms, and some just love to break the game at every opportunity.

Casually checking on two Withers stuck in a super sensitive contraption and being like "Yea, that's working" is probably the most doc thing ever

always have infinite golden carrots, no longer need to worry about infinity on your bow. A few weeks ago I saw a video about surviving in the void for a month and he went through a bunch of effort to get a platform in the void and drop minecarts with chests full of enchanted golden apples down there so that he could restock his supplies, but with this discovery you only need to have a stack on infinitely refilling rockets, enchanted golden apples, and possibly xp bottles to refill his a mending elytra.

You can hook one of them up to an item sorter so that when you pick up blocks, a hopper connected to a comparator transports them into a storage system. Imagine mining and never having to toss away stacks of excess cobble.

Octazon Shadow: For a hefty pile of diamonds(installation fee), set a chest up at a hermits base for instant delivery of the items they want. Maybe you could even use it collect payment by sucking up diamonds, counting them and detect how many items to send to their chest?

This could be awesome to make a sponge dryer. Have wet sponges go back, dry in furnaces and pass back in to dry sponge storiage. Draining water monuments, etc would be so much better. Similarly. Empty iron buckets - back to storage to refill with Lava/snow. and pass through to refilled storage?

Intentional inventory synching is a great way for Mojang to take a step toward better inventory management.

Instead of enderpearl might use Colored rocket to differentiate where you can teleport. ex. RedFireworkRockets : Industrial Area BlueFireworkRocket : Base GreenFireworkRocket : ...... Use the rockets in tight space to complete the disappearing act.

Opinion on what to do with shadow block technology: the spirit of Hermitcraft is very much to keep it for yourself and rent it out. The other hermits will surely watch Pr0cess and Fallen and get their own eventually, but until then you should clearly take them for all the diamonds you can. And maybe make Etho eat more spider eyes.

For mining applications: you should set up a franchise type service where you store all of the materials mined, but you get to keep a certain percent (~10%?) Of what they mined. This will give you huge amounts of free resources that you can then resell to other hermits.

This is so useful. Make multiple and automatically drain certain items into your storage system, or have infinite totems, or make waypoints by throwing down certain items, making you teleport there. Or even infinite food. Or refilling exp bottles to mend stuff. I hope this becomes an actual part of vanilla (like approved)

This can change everything. Want One hub to refill all of your shops? Done. Want to set up multiple ender porters? That might work with different names pearls Plus the potential for mini games makes this insane

To support this, you need to set up a rental system, where customers put diamonds in a chest, and they are syphoned off at a "monthly" speed using a hopper clock, and if they run out the system locks. Then you can rent any of your shadow block machines to hermits.

Oh man the possibilities! You can offer Cubfan an "infinity" bow with spectral arrows You could make yourself a bottomless redstone shulkerbox, mass craft a chest of any component and never need to find your place after restocking ever again- stay in flow You could offer BDubs a perfect stack of exactly as many clocks as he wants for his episode- he could get scammed and toss a stack or two of clocks out and still be where he wants to be. Plus, Redstone with BDubs- I'm sure he would love to learn about the update suppressor! You could have food restocked automatically while AFK-ing without worrying about a food dispenser system or timers on it You could pair up with someone doing villager trading and offer a bottomless well of XP bottles for (harmless) mending anywhere in the world! If the second stack of items can be put into another inventory and remain linked, you could put it into a dropper in the Octagon and have a bottomless shulker of anything sitting in midair, no massive storage anywhere to be seen Would the stack stay linked if you threw it/ it was dispensed? You could toss a stack of gold to a Piglin and have them barter forever- the stack despawn timer should reset with each trade! Put that out on display in the Nether for everyone to benefit from and fear! Man there's so many possibilities, I have to go make one in my world!

This is a CRAZY discovery! the enderpearl thing is just an example of how you could just use a stack of items as a remote control for any redstone system!

here is an idea, instead of the stack of 12 ender pearls, use a totem of undying. When the totem breaks, the ender stasis chamber gets triggered.

Give this to Tango and Challenge him to Make "Decked Out Infinite" with it. Imagine a Decked Out that didn't require constant reloading/maintenance. The Possibilities are Infinite.

The first thing I can think of with this technology is an interface for an infinite storage room. You could have for exemple a double chest full of shadow items for stained glass / wool & other colored items linked to a big bulk storage. You can have like so a very neat interface that you can tweak very easily.

So cool how you took the time to credit Pr0cess and FallenBreath in the beginning and even told everyone to pause and go follow their channels! Done.

This is the coolest thing I've seen in a while! I will try it out as soon as possible!

You could do remote redstone with it, by putting both stacks in systems with hoppers and comparators. You could also link the output of farms directly to your storage system or other farms that need it (e.g. bone meal). If it stays active in shulker boxes, you can also have such a stack for every item you could need (up to 27^2) within shulker boxes in your ender chest, all linked to your storage system. The power of this trick is almost equivalent to the modded ender chests that can interact with redstone and hoppers. So you can look at the things people do with those to get some more ideas.

Question: "What should we do with this very very powerful technology?" Answer: Mess with Bdubs!

The Hermits, who want to use the system, have to pay the following: - Setup the system: One-time-costs of 16 diamonds per module - Usage fee: 32 diamonds a month - premium delivery-service (for stocking up the system with their items): 5 diamonds per delivery - adding a shulker-loader or shulker-unloader: One-time-costs of XX diamonds per module

This sounds like the inventory space solution we've been needing. Mojang should consider implementing an actual feature that functions like this.

Okay, this is one of the reason the tech community just amazes me. But as incredible as the shadow blocks are (and oh my god they are), I think I had the most fun with you and Mumbo just joking about him fixing his mouse in real time. That felt like a blooper left in and was so real and so charming. My favorite thing about Hermitcraft is that all you hermits are genuine friends and genuinely enjoy each other's company and that makes watching all of you so worth while. I am probably not the first with this idea, but you can now make (group) chats in Minecraft. Make shadow items out of Book and Quills (you can rename them to the "chat name"), then give every person in that chat one of the shadow items. By typing into it (without signing unless you want to close the chat forever), you can send a message that will appear in every connected book.
