Let's take into account he never once reached for his gun, or insighted further violence, even though an officer in his position would not be blamed for doing so. He is not just a hero for saving senator lives. He's a hero for saving American lives. He sets an example for all law enforcement across the country and represents a hallmark for what constitutes an American who respects and values the lives other people. Not like the mob that stormed the Capitol, or even some of constituents he's hired to protect. His actions that day should live on in history as an example of what America should represent. I only wish I could thank him for his heroism in person, for his cunning, kindness, and heart. I hope to be as outstanding a human being as him one day.

A man that is selfless, honorable and brave. This man did so much footwork covering so many areas and so many lives while running and navigating safety for our government. He did not waste time or back away from his duty which is to protect and to serve. May God give him the courage to continue his work with such grace, pride and dignity. Yes, Officer Goodman is a hero. He was running to warn others (including Senator Romney and colleague) and help provide backup to his fellow officers. He retreated up the stairs to lure agitators away from departing Vice President Pence and the then-unguarded Senate chamber. Are you still laughing?
