This movie isn't as bad as people say it is, but the ending doesn't make sense at all. Another thing no one realized. How are there horses when there weren't horses on the space ship, or the planet they are on? No, the movie doesn't take place on Earth.
@thebogangamer1
@thebogangamer1 9 років тому
the ending does make sense the planet was earth the entire time, and he goes to the future, and the space station follows him but they arrive early in the future and crash on a barren earth, then he goes back to past earth, which is after the apes take over in rise of the planet of the apes, it makes complete sense.
@Deltasquad382943
@Deltasquad382943 9 років тому
thebogangamer It wasn't on Earth. It took place on another planet, if you payed attention. If you noticed, there are two moons in the sky. Earth doesn't have a second moon. Where are the cities? It was just a deserted planet. You need to re watch the movie, and ACTUALLY pay attention. Don't deny it, you will know that I am right.
@Kro-RissaVirus
@Kro-RissaVirus 9 років тому
***** dude, your logic is good, but if you look it up you can even find video of the makers talking about the ending and how "we wanted to make the big reveal of how he has been on Earth the entire time something big, something the viewer wouldn't see coming" (though im talking about the original version)
@Deltasquad382943
@Deltasquad382943 9 років тому
If you listened to the recordings on the ship, they said that they crash landed on a planet. So no, they weren't on Earth the entire time. Earth doesn't have two moons, but the planet they were on had two moons.
@Kro-RissaVirus
@Kro-RissaVirus 9 років тому
***** It says they crashed on a planet because they didn't know they were still on Earth, and theoretically in the future, if the Earth's gravity field were to snag a stray asteroid in its orbit, it could develop a second moon yes.... highly unlikely to ever happen, but possible, especially in the world of movies

Seriously, no mention of the fact that this is the first time Burton worked with Helena Bonham Carter and he cast her as a creepy chimp woman then later went on to have two kids with her (and cast her in every film he's done since then to the point that everyone just got sick of it)?

Lots of directors do that, and lots of average actresses get better roles because of it, like Rita Wilson and Kate Capshaw both good actresses but not great actresses but who's going to tell you know when your husband is Tom Hanks or Steven Spielberg? Sondra Locke it's another example, or Leslie Mann which on her own is a good actress but most of her jobs are on Judd Apatow movies, you never successful industry there is some form of nepotism

+Pogo Gichel Well, yes and no. What makes this movie closer to the book than the other movies is that SPOILER the main character escapes the planet of the apes and lands back on Earth but it turns out Earth was also taken over by apes just as the planet of the apes was. But the book treats the eventual triumph of apes over humans as an inevitability that happened on both planets independently. The movie on the other hand seems to say that the planet of the apes somehow turned into an exact copy of our Earth with the exact same buildings. Only apes took the role of humans. Either that or the apes somehow left the planet of the apes and conquered our Earth and then decided to continue society exactly the way we humans did right down to the police uniforms. Either of these scenarios is highly unlikely. The book's scenario is also unlikely but I'm willing to cut it some slack considering how old it is. By the way, in the book the planet of the apes is an advanced civilization with guns and cars and cities and stuff.

valinor100 the way I understood from the movie (never read the book), was that traveling through the wormhole actually puts you back in time. Gen Thade eventually escapes and is able to travel through the wormhole, and go back further in time and finds Earth. He and i assume his army can then conquer a less advance Earth.
@billlawry64
@billlawry64 9 років тому
Hey
@pjamese3
@pjamese3 9 років тому
gianni bude Well, the ending in the book makes sense and is a good twist. Tim Burton's ending makes no sense at all. The exploratory ship wasn't in orbit around Earth. It was stated in the beginning that they were in another solar system. I can see Wahlberg's character (who can't land a ship to save his life) going back in time at the end, but how the hell did his small scout ship make it all the way back to Earth...randomly? And how did the ape general make it back to Earth (presumably sometime in the 1700's or 1800's going by the Lincoln memorial?) There were no more flyable ships. Unless the apes figured out how to repair/build spacecraft. And wasn't he deposed by the end of the movie? Even if he did go, he would have ended up in a traveling circus or vivisected, not the leader of a nation. Any similarity that ending had to the novel's ending was happenstance. Tim Burton just wanted his own twist ending to "match" the original. BTW, if Marky-Mark had ended up stuck on the planet, who else would have preferred he end up with the ape scientist instead of Estella Warren?

MineKynoMine The one possibility I can think of is that the originals were political commentary. They explored the friction between religion and science and race relations. Now the new one could be viewed as less political. That is just a possibility.

@Fireluv500
@Fireluv500 9 років тому
Max Payne looked like a flop from the get go, i mean just from the trailers you could see how bad that shit was going to be...i followed my instincts and didn't go watch it on the Big Screen, next thing i know my friends are coming to me like "Don't go watch that shit", and every critic is like "Flop! Flop! Flop! what the fuck is that?". I just know when a movie's a flop! It's like one of my special powers.

@jordanastro4694
@jordanastro4694 7 років тому
mclarenrob2 the villain ape (I'm not even going to try and remember his name) must have found Mark's ship, somehow repaired it, forced Mark's chimp to fly the ship with him, when into the storm thing, when back in time to Earth only thousands of years before Mark's character did, started fucking other chimps (maybe Mark's one, lol), made a civilisation of smart chimps, started making every Chimp believe that humans are evil and must be wiped out, did just that, over the thousands of years the chimps somehow managed to replicate every human landmarks down to the perfect detail, and then we come to the ending. The chimps are the dominant species when Mark arrives and the villain chimp is seen as a god, maybe? Just a theory...

It is how the original novel by french SF author Pierre Boule published in 1963 ended. The first movie, which was an adaptation of that book had a very similar story line, and a far better ending in my opinion.
