I was laughed because i didn’t go to fancy holidays, and not drive extra expensive car.. but i end i laughed more because i never had any credit or any credit card in live!!! I drive good car what i buy in cash not credit, i go in holidays and i live much better then 95% of people around me because i don’t own anything to anyone 👍🏻

In fact, I had no prior experience or understanding when I began investing in 2020, but by the end of 2023, I had made a profit of almost $750k. All I had been doing was going by what my financial advisor had told me. This demonstrates that all you truly need is a professional to assist you; you don't even need to be a great investor or put in a lot of work.

The best thing and the simplest thing you could do is make sure you're investing $1000 into your brokerage or retirement account every month. If you aren't able to, figure out how to come up with some extra cash. Your future self needs it.

Low six-figure income, no debt, nearing mortgage payoff ($800k property), age 43. Invested over 15x annual salary, amazed by focus on scraping by in retirement. Aim for surplus. My goal: retire at 50 with $5M. Unless the markets crash, these two points should align. I'm quite lucky to have started working with a financial advisor early.

I just made the final payment on my mortgage last week, almost 10 years ahead of schedule. I've not let my eye off the prize for the last few years now, ever since I decided to buckle down and get rid of my mortgage. Being completely debt free is such a liberating feeling 😊. I've loved your content along the way, keeping me motivated not to spend my money on frivolous purchases - so thank you for that! ❤

An emergency fund is the best gift you can give yourself. Two weeks ago I had to fly with my family at the last minute when my father died. There were many unforeseen expenses. Grieving a parent is hard enough without worrying about how to cover the cost of travel, accommodations etc.

As an investment enthusiast, I often wonder how top level investors are able to become millionaires off investing. I do have a significant amount of capital that is required to start up but I have no idea what strategies and direction I need to approach to help me make decent returns

🌹I'm 51 and feel bad for younger generations. They wants so much - a big house, new car, vacations, designers clothes etc.. and feel deprive whenthey have to sacrifice. I am in my 40s but growing up I was bullied for my clothes. People would say, "She is wearing that shirt again." The worst was when I accidently went to school with the clearance tags on my shirt from Walmart. You can imagine I was bullied for being poor. Even in college I wore a cheap watch my mom got me. My boyfriend in college was wealthy and he asked me what do you consider to be a normal amount for a watch. To this day if I need clothes I will thrift or go to Walmart and I still wear the cheap watch from college. People can be really mean. Now I don't care about their opinions anymore.

I once watched a TV show where they were interviewing teenage girls who had affluent parents. One girl said she spent $600 a month on average on clothes. I think in my family growing up that would be the clothing budget for the whole family for the entire year.

I'm almost that age and went to a school in a district full of affluent asians that were very brand oriented, and I had a hard time whenever they asked about my clothes after finding out they were non brand or hand me downs. My friend's mom started giving me her used brand name clothes, and my mom later got a part time job at Macy's to get a discount on brand name clothes. I ended up becoming more punk in lifestyle because screw all of those people.

When you shared your collage story I was hoping to hear: And then a girl gifted me a pair of warm boots .. Sadly it wasn´t that! I agree with all 7 points you made but I think one is missing: GIVING! Even when I was a single mom always struggeling I gave a small amount each month to those who had even less then me. My kids are grown up now and I´m in a much better financial situation but I´m glad I always had eyes open for people in need. I´m a firm believer that everything you do/give will not be in vain. While I didn’t get a pair of shoes, my second cousin (who was a security guard on campus) did see me without a coat and lent me one with the promise that I would give it back, because it belong to his late father. I wore that for a while until I could afford to buy my own ☺️ And of course, I took good care of it and gave it back!

We were invited to a millionaires condo to stay for a church conference once. He was so kind to us including taking a few couples out for Peking duck. He drove a very old car and wore old out of style clothes but he owned all these condos on the beach and gave away money to help others. You can’t tell what someone has and calling them trailer trash is just being stupid and unkind. I hope she sees herself in my comment and learns something.

You can do so much at your local library! They've got books, music, movies, streaming services, household things, there's so much there. And all you need is a library card! Which is free! Go to your library people!

I agree! I love libraries too !!! Everywhere I was living in I had good experiences with. Yes, 4 countries. If you are new in a new country or city I can totally recommend it yes, try it out. For me it was always a game change. Specially if you begin to learn the new language and you’re finding out ways to get to know nice people, and new ways to volunteering in a new place. 🙏🤗👍

Many ppl are not supportive of living within your means. PPL think you are struggling or poor, or that you don't REALLY want to not shop or go out to dinner, you must be broke. Its really amazing. My friend group is drowning in debt but they are critical of me for being frugal.

I had holes in my shoes in college which was fun in the rain….also got stuck in a parking garage bc I couldn’t pay to leave. Same thing with toll booths. Good times- much better now!

Ich bin in bescheidenen Verhältnissen aufgewachsen. Wir hatten als vierköpfige Familie eine 2 Zimmer Wohnung, so dass wir alle in einem Zimmer geschlafen haben. In der Schule haben sich die Kinder darüber lustig gemacht. Gleichzeitig mochte meine damals beste Freundin ein anderes Mädchen mehr, weil sie immer tollen Urlaub machen konnte und schicke Kleidung trug. Das tat weh. Auch wenn es mir heute finanziell wirklich gut geht, habe ich nie vergessen was bei Menschen wirklich wichtig ist.

Das kenne ich auch. Meine Eltern kommen aus der Türkei. Ich weiß noch genau wie wir immer auf pump Lebensmittel gekauft haben das nennt sich auf türkisch veresye. Samstag war immer der schönste Tag für mich weil wir dann immer eingekauft haben. Als Kind war ich noch nie in meiner Heimat gewesen weil wir als sechs köpfige Familie kein Geld dafür hatten.Ich hatte auch kein eigenes Zimmer. Wir haben zu sechst in einem Zimmer geschlafen. Um meine Privatsphäre zu haben habe ich mein Walkman benutzt und mich zur Wand gedreht . Manchmal habe ich lange aus dem Fenster im Bad geguckt weil es irgendwie keine Perspektive gab zumindest war ich zu jung um Dinge zu verstehen. Uns haben auch Nachbarn was zu essen gegeben. Später wurde es besser .Es war eine verdammt harte Zeit. Ich bin sehr dankbar dafür dass ich heute meine eigene Wohnung habe. Mir war das heiligste immer ein Rückzugsort und den habe ich jetzt.

Marissa you are to be applauded and commended on the success you have after enduring hard times. You’re so right about looking poor but being rich. The people that are so worried about appearances are the people that go broke. I don’t see any point in trying to impress people. I was never the type of person willing to sacrifice my finances in order to look rich. My husband and I started our lives off together being more concerned about buying a home and paying off debt. My husband was even able to retire early as we always lived beneath our means. Sacrifice now so that you can relax later.🥰

We are slowly making our way to saving to buy our first home, me and my boyfriend are still quite young but we are both proud how far we have both come, for me personally I have never found much value in buying stuff, we live very minimally to the point that some family almost look uncomfortable when they come in because our home to them is way to empty, but we just love it and it’s so simple to manage and clean, I am on a no buy challenge but to a even greater extent, we are challenging ourselves to see how little we can spend so we can start paying down debt and saving. We know when the time is right our perfect home will reveal itself and it’s so much fun and inspiring to be able to get closer and closer to that goal quicker and living financially free. We love the lifestyle we have created for ourselves now it’s just a manner of maintaining it better and getting more and more clear on what brings us lasting value.

I just lost both parents since last June while dealing with a domestic violence situation...the will is a whole other challenge when siblings belong to the bank. I grew up in a broke family with compulsive buying problems. The first part of my aldult life was not as bas as my family's but still messy. I started to follow you a while ago, and you inspired me to get rid of my clutter and my debts. I'm now free like a bird and closer to achieving some of my biggest dreams with my savings. I am retired now and on a fixed income. My house is paid off, my 5 year car is paid off and only has 24,000 miles on it which at the rate I use the car will last the rest of my lifetime. While I am frugal there are always new things to learn about saving money. One thing I have recently started doing is donating heavier blankets they are harder to wash and dry and take up a lot of energy to do so. Thinner blankets are easier and if it's really cold you can always layer thinner blankets. That's my frugal tip today. Anna In Ohio

Do it! I started tracking last year and was so surprised how much money I was wasting 😮 By tracking and then creating a budget, I can retire 2 years earlier than I was expecting 🎉 Two years of my life not wasted to earn money for impulse shopping and junk food.

Dustin, I can relate. I have too many socks now. But I still mend them and wear them until they can’t be saved. Then I use them to wipe things down and clean around the house. At 13, we just don’t understand the value of not filling the planet would trash. Or any clue of how to work for all the things that are bought for us. Kudos to you for reaching financial independice. I need to be financially independent but it seems impossible when living from paycheck to paycheck. These are great tips! One I would add is to make sure that you have some sort of income protection besides an emergency fund, like insurance. There are many different kinds for many different situations, so I would recommend speaking with a professional.

Your story about being freezing cold at college was so sad. I wish I could have been there, I would have given you a coat and boots for the winter. We’ve never been rich, but I’ve never had to go cold either. I wonder why people just laughed instead of trying to help. Sorry nobody helped you!
