How to Build a Fuzz Pedal

8 років томуMe building a Fuzz Pedal from www.musikding.de/ not a tutorial just an idea of what it entails.
They are good fun to make, and take about an afternoon or evening to complete.
The Fuzz Face is one of the big classics in stomp boxes. This 69er version features 2 germanium transistors and has positive ground. So it is NOT possible to power it along other pedals on one power supply. You need an extra power supply or a battery.

This kit contains all parts you need to build a fully functional effect pedal. You can select the enclosure you want. You only need a 9V battery or power supply and 4 knobs for the pots.

Compliments for the nice swirling paint and building process, to avoid hum, scratch the internal paint where the jacks in-out and pots touch the box, by sand paper and clean by alchool isoprop (preferred).

Hey I just built this kit and I find the Contour potenciometer acts like a volume potenciometer in reverse. Does yours act in the same way?

Alberto just use "magic marble" paints google Magic marble paints and swirling :)

+Jaames Coxon Not very well is the truthful answer I used a Dymo Labelwriter. If you know a better way let me know the glue on these labelwriters isn't very good.

In pedals, when earthing. If you earth to one point, say on the input jack. Will this work? Where is the best place.

Yes Gary your right , the input and output jacks sleeve is your ground.

Hi! Nice video, it was really helpful! Stupid question, after you finish assembling the kit pedal and after you instert the 9V battery, should the LED light? If not, is it an andicator of an assembly error?

+Chris Bech Well Chris it isn't an error the LED only lights up when a guitar cable is plugged into it as it (the input jack ) is also the on/off switch.So the LED is turned on by first sticking in your guitar cable and then pressing the foot switch.

What have you done with the small nipples on the potentiometers? everytime i try to tighten them the poti will be sloping...

If you're referencing the little tab that sticks up on the side of the potentiometer body, you can simply break it off with sturdy small pliers before installing the pot into the pedal. Alternately, you can use that tab to keep the body of the pot from inadvertently rotating after it's installed. Use a really narrow file to make a slot in the hole where the potentiometer shaft goes through - you'll end up with a keyhole shape that the tab can nestle into. This is useful if you've got a really packed pedal build where you want to ensure that the body of the pot doesn't accidentally swivel and cause a short with another wire or component.

Hey, I just built my very own silicon fuzz face from musikding, but i've ran into a problem. when I turn the pedal on I get a very low, distorted output. When I play softly or play notes in quick succession the pedal doesn't gice any sound at all. Anyone has an idea of what could be the problem? I think it has got something to do with the silicon transistors

this video doesn't teach how to build a fuzz pedal, I mean the theory behind it... It just shows how to put the physical components together.. not helpful at all
