In this video i show you guys how I made a super easy Barn Door ALL out of cheap sheathing plywood for under $150 with the track. I also show how i distress the plywood to and give the door a rustic old school look as if the door has been on a barn for years. This is a easy DIY build with minimal tools that anyone can do in a weekend. . I also add acoustic panels on the back of it to eliminate the echo in the shop.

I almost fell out of my chair laughing when the glass shattered...sorry but it was hilarious. I'm truly happy to watch your videos and to learn so much on how to do things right (and at times the wrong thing). I so wish you lived on the East Coast I'd have loved to be able to stop by and watch you make a project and video live. Please keep up your normalcy/ insanity and on being real person, it's a breath of fresh air each week. 🙃

That barn door looks awesome. I’m going to refer back to this video when I finally replace my roll up shop door which has zero insulation. I might need to look into that restorer also. I like the torch and wire brush method for distressing my projects, basically shou sugi ban, but this tool would save some time. Great job once again.

Fantastic Door. Like the previous comment.. Seen a lot of barn doors but this one takes the cake. You mention that you can't make clear plastic opaque. Yes you can as I do it with a cheap harbor freight sand blaster. If you don't have one most car panel shops do and will be happy to do it for you. Kevin

Your glass was tempered so it comes out the factory with internal stress all over. This makes it extremely resistant to breaking but when you crack it regardless of whether you used an angle grinder or not it would have exploded from the disruption of the stress forces holding the glass together. also you can use your ROS to sand the plexiglass to give it a frosted look
@KomarProject
@KomarProject 4 роки тому
Thanks Andrew!! When I was doing this I had no idea it was tempered. Is there a way you can tell?
@peterschmidt9942
@peterschmidt9942 3 роки тому
@@KomarProject Sorry, I already started laughing when you couldn't cut the glass with a glass cutter as I knew what would happen next. Best way to tell if it's tempered or not is tempered will generally be very smooth on the edges, normal glass can be a bit rough to the touch. And if you have scraps laying around, if it was for inside use (like furniture) - it's probably tempered. And as you found out, if it won't snap with a simple score - it's probably tempered.

Nice project as usual Bart. Be careful putting THIN plexi through the tablesaw....it can shatter quite nicely. They make a very whimpy looking scoring blade that works well. A couple scores and an snap. That's my tip for the day!

I'm not certain that would work. The way the glass shattered seems similar as car window shattering, so I'd guess the glass would be hardened. I think it's called safety glass. Very nice project anyway, I love your style! :)
