How can someone make a video with such step-by-step detail and not discuss and show what is used as rollers and how to obtain them? I already know but I am pointing out an obvious oversight for a YT vid.

I needed to move an 8’x5’ shed about four feet that was heavy. I cannot believe how much easier it was using 2 baseball bats and one car jack handle. Your idea was brilliant. I would still be trying to move it if I didn’t see your video. Thank you.

I'm so glad that you shared this ! In this age, of * convenience * a lot of people have no idea how much they can do themselves. Since, there's an app / machine for everything. I don't even believe trade schools are teaching students these DIY mechanisms. There's nothing wrong with hard work, or being old school Plus, This is a really good skill to have. Great Video! Nice to see someone actually do what they set out to do. I have an 8'x8' wood shed in the corner of my lot. It's at a 45 deg. angle and I want to make it parallel to my fence - so only about 4' or so movement. The shed is sitting on two 3x3's on dirt. I have 4 sections of 3" PVC pipe. I have 1x6 boards on hand to slide underneath. Are these OK or should I pick up some 2x4's? - Thanks

@PalaniRides

I have a metal shed similar to yours here. Same width, but just a little deeper, which I need to move on concrete only four feet to one side, but family members who originally put it together just laid out the shed's metal base on 3/4" plywood with no beams underneath and screwed the shed's base into it. It's just plywood on concrete iow. My thinking, or solution, is to move everything out to make it light as possible obviously, solidify the floors to keep the floor square (Like they solidify old cars when cutting their roofs to chop them), see if I can lift the edge of the shed's WEST side with Johnson bars, and then slip long straight rebar if I can on that side as my rollers. Next would be to get some slightly longer (L) angle stock to run the length/base of the EAST side with eye bolts on the ends running parallel to the rebar on the WEST side. I would slip the lip of the L stock along the EAST side, and simply pull it with some come-a-longs (the cables would be running along the front and back of the shed to help you visualize this). I would be using two come-a-longs to pull each end of the EAST side placed L stock. Do you think it would work? What might I face - if you understood what I wrote? :)
@HarpsterFarmAZ
@HarpsterFarmAZ 2 роки тому
Well without seeing it it's tough to say and visualize your method there. But being on concrete is a bonus and moving only 4 ft is a bonus! I would see it you can't get some small metal pipes under that bad boy just lifting it a few inches on one side then the other as long as the plywood holds...
@PalaniRides
@PalaniRides 2 роки тому
@@HarpsterFarmAZ : Thanks for the response, and I think you understand it. Yes, it's all based on how I reinforce that plywood floor and keep it square. Perhaps a better way to explain or envision it would be like trying to move a car forward a few feet, but pulling it forward from the ends/edges of the rear bumper. Usually one would simply either pull the car with a winch attached to the front frame, or push it from the rear, but I can't in this case given it's a flexible shed on plywood. The "L" stock would replace the rear bumper in this scenario. The rebar would be the rollers.
@HarpsterFarmAZ
@HarpsterFarmAZ 2 роки тому
@@PalaniRides 100% good luck let me know how it goes!
@PalaniRides
@PalaniRides 2 роки тому
@@HarpsterFarmAZ : Still a couple of weeks away, but better to be prepared from those who have done it, right? The goal isn't just moving it, but moving without damaging it. The bottom metal base can bend if it's lifted too high (thus the smaller diameter rebar in place of larger pipe), and if I don't secure it, the doors aren't going to close right. Hell, the most perfect assembly won't get those doors to roll right. Lol! Thank so much once again! Frank

This is a good video, but too often there are many areas with codes and code officers that have no clue what is going on, and then when young supervisors think they know it all and they don’t. We actually got them back peddling in writing and all we wanted was finished walls and floor on the shed for agricultural purposes and they said no its and ADU, but not according to the state law and it never could be unless it was rebuilt, its just a pretty shed and nothing more. Frustrating so look at the neighbors and see who is permitted and or has a CO, if not many do run, the codes in many states are upping their requirements and even can revoke a CO or just give you a hard time about it all. Who has that kind of time, energy and money? Folks want to live and get to life, not fun. Seniors need help too. 🙏
