How To Mow A Lawn Like A Professional & also some Lawn Mowing Tips For A Great Looking Lawn
LawnGreen.com.au/category/Lawn... Lawn Care Tips for Home Owners and Contractors
www.YourLawnAndGarden.com/Reports Business help for Contractors
lawngreen.com.au/the-lawn-lov...
1) Intro - so you want to know how to mow the lawn like a pro, in this video I am going to show you how to mow your lawn properly
2) First thing is you need the right equipment to do the job right, so you need a lawn mower with a catcher (always use a catcher to catch all the grass clippings and other debris like leaves and so on), then you need a whipper snipper/line trimmer or as they say in America a weed wacker, then finally you need a leaf blower. This is the basic gear you need to look after your own lawn, or if you have started a part time lawn mowing business this gear will be perfect to start with.
3) Secondly, you need to the right safety gear, good clothing protection to cover up from the sun’s rays plus sunscreen, good eye safety glasses, proper footwear and ear plugs or ear muffs
4) Thirdly, you need to know what order to mow the lawn to do the job efficiently whether you are doing the job for money or to make the wife happy. The order of job tasks is as follows: edges & trimming first, then mow, and finally blow! That it, edge, mow and blow
5) Let’s take a look at the edging & trimming
6) Then the mowing
7) And lastly the blowing
8) So remember this, edge, mow and blow
9) or edge, blow and mow!

I usually spend 2 to 3 hours to cut the grass, edge, and clean when my better half is at home, (that way she thinks it REALLY takes that long), When she goes to her mom's on Sunday, I spend 20 minutes, then watch the game.

I've been in the lawn care business for only 3 months now. my boss has had his business for 16 years now. We usually mow, trim, then blow. but with two people it makes sense, while mowing the perimeters the other trims and the trimmer gets done first and so he then starts cleaning up. some customers prefer us to trim then mow so everything gets bagged up, but most customers don't care to bag it up as the clippings act like fertilizer. every one has their preference.
@Zasaramel
@Zasaramel 2 роки тому
You would also use your order of things if your mower doesn't have a trap. You'd want to move and get a perimeter set up to knock stuff towards the middle. Mow around evenly as to cut down as much of it as possible while trying to contain it in the yard and away from flower beds/house trim/etc. Then do your edging afterward for the excess and clean lines. Then blow anything you had left over out of the street/driveway/etc

oh man i don't use the bag lol. I am contractor. Reason you trim first because you place the trimmings on top of the grass. When mowing will make them into fine grass plus is good to have grass on top. It protects it from the sun it creates a screen and is super helpful when it rains. Feeds the grass. Also i cut the grass not to low I cut them on the highest height. More protection for the soil. I live Houston is pretty darn hot. My grass is green of what I do.

Interesting...nice video sir...luv the safety gear too! Over here in the states we weed-wack( Whipper snipper?) with a weed trimmer, edge with a edger & mow... saving the last mower pass (go very slowly too) along the perimeter of the property to get all of the cuttings and trimming debris. Then you don't need to blow bloke.

never mow with the mower height lower than 5 on the height adjustment, if the grass is cut short the weeds take over if cut longer the grass takes over & the weeds die out.
@klutch14u
@klutch14u 7 років тому
I don't pretend to know how his height adjustments are numbered on his mower but I agree, I mow mine as high as possible unless I'm doing aerating, verticutting or dethatching. For all the reasons you say but also to keep the moisture in. Short grass dries out rapidly, a nice long blade of grass provides sun cover so water doesn't evaporate.
@andrewswinton2059
@andrewswinton2059 5 років тому
I cut my grass as low as I can get it, always. Why, cause I don't want to be back cutting it in a week, it makes it easier to hand weed out weeds, and makes it grow slower. It also makes it look like a golf course, which is nice. Thats how we all roll here in NZ, leave it long and your cutting every 4 days in summer!

What level is best recommend to cut the grass
@FlashTechEngineering
@FlashTechEngineering 4 роки тому
I always cut the lawn first, then do the edges , so I can give them a nicer profile, blowdown and then vacuum up, much neater results more professional my way

I whippersnip first then mow to pick it all up then and then use the blower to tidy up. I usually whipper snip an area at least a foot from all the edges to make it easier to mow. I also cut the grass short like this. This is Australia and theres snakes EVERYWHERE!!! short is better and if you put the sprinkler on when your done mowing in the afternoon your grass doesnt get patchy.

Hi there, great video. How much would you charge to mow a lawn this size?
@thelawnexpert
@thelawnexpert 7 років тому
Dont know, because we dont do any mowing or gardening, but to take a guess maybe $50-$60, best to get a couple of local mowing contractors out to price your own lawn to get an idea, hope that helps, maybe check this out as well www.yourlawnandgarden.com/downloads/starting-a-lawn-mowing-business-from-scratch/

Thanks for your reply. I asked because I'm considering starting a small business working alone. I'm aware there are many ongoing costs involved but that seems like a good return to me.

Can I fertilise and then water immediately afterwards?
@thelawnexpert
@thelawnexpert 7 років тому
generally yes as you want to activate the fertiliser, also some fertilisers (if they are not slow release) may burn the grass if not watered in

Usually the point of mowing is to make the lawn look good, but to each their own.

If you have that small of a lawn it should take you about 10 minutes.I have a whole 6.2 acres of land to mow it takes me about 1 hour -2 hours

You sir are so blessed. Cutting grass is relaxing, fun, and gets you out of the house, and away from demanding family. Depends on how you look at it. I will say.....how about turning some of those acres into 'Wild Flower" patches, and lots of Sunflowers. How delightful!

What’s the purpose of edge trimming? Or lead blowing? I was hoping for some explanation
@johnlevel30calhoun23
@johnlevel30calhoun23 Рік тому
Edge trimming is the equivalent to when you go to the barbershop and get a line after they cut your hair it’s the same thing it makes the grass look neater. It completes the look of the yard like a edge up completes your haircut!
