Nice overview for beginners. Preheating the engine will make it easier to start especially if new. Blocking the stinger to stop the engine does flood the engine but not if you open the fuel tank at the same time. Pinching the fuel line is a great way to stop it. Blocking air is even better but hard to accomplish if filter is zip tied on to carb. Stopping the flywheel always a great emergency way to stop. Great idea to carry an old rag with you at all times so you have multiple ways to stop the engine without burning yourself or losing skin

It's also very important to burn off any residual fuel that maybe in the engine by leaving the glow start in the engine and crank it over several times. Also make sure the piston is at bottom dead centre before storage. This will ensure the cylinder doesn't contract around the piston when cooled down. Also spray a dash of spray oil or after run into the cylinder and a dash of spray oil into the carburettor before storage.

I use a syringe to prime the fuel to the carburettor.

Same here. Its more efficient and you can see the fuel running inside fuel lines.

Back before YT when I worked at my LHS I basically had this same talk with every new nitro car owner including help with the first startup, tips for breaking in the engine etc.
@RazorRC9 місяців тому
That's great you helped so many people! That's kind of the reason I did this line of videos, just to help all new people to RC get started and be able to do the basics. Even if there's no LHS nearby.

As someone who’s never driven a nitro this was super interesting.

11:53 You will NEVER hurt an idling engine by pinching off the fuel line. Actually, the preferred method of shutting the engine down AT THE CONCLUSION OF THE RUNNING SESSION is to run it up to normal operating temperature and while it’s hot and running along, pull the fuel line until it stops. Then, with the fuel line disconnected, make several attempts to start the engine until it no longer fires ( “pops” ). You must burn all residual fuel remaining inside the crankcase to avoid corrosion. Once it’s cooled, apply a quality after run product , a few drops in the carb and a few down the glow plug hole. Spin the engine over half a dozen times with the glow plug threaded in only a turn or two ( to avoid hydraulically locking the piston ). NOW the engine is ready to store until the next running session. Keep in mind , the next ( first ) cold start, the engine will be a little “ rich “ due to the after run oil. Once it’s running and warmed up, blip the throttle a few times to help clear out the excess oil. Oh, and remember to re - tighten the glow plug.

Really get to know the idle needle is my suggestion. Instead of throttle trim.

What is the difference with those engines and racing engines . I see that racing engine pre heat block up to 200 then they fire it up.

Chique carro 🚙🔥💥💨😎🥰👍🏻💪🏼

Remember if it won't prime with fuel. Its usually a clogged carb highspeed needle! Not lack of compression.

Method 4. Reduce idle on transmitter below stall RPM.
@RazorRC9 місяців тому
That won't work unless your idle screw is set wrong and then you're going to stall every time you brake.

I've no idea why but I've just tried to stop my nitro car by covering the exhaust pipe but it didn't stop. Any idea why it's started to do this? Cheers

probably an air leak somewhere

good video, I think I figured out the rubber nubby on the end of my tuning screwdriver is for pressing against the flywheel for shutdown

Hate pull start back in the 2000s.. 😂 better get the starter box..

You like to lug around a starter box into the field or you just run your RC in comfy places?

This guy is kind of sounds like Scott Disick from the Kardashians he must've got his inspiration from Bruce Jenner who love to fly RC helicopters however Bruce can't do that no more with the long fingernails
@JustinFromThe206Місяць тому
LOL Bruce can do it Caitlyn can't :)

Another way to prime engine is to use a syringe. You could control the priming with a syringe better, i think.
