Shame he didn't acknowledge it to the umpire because he certainly noticed it like a child caught red handed and even look towards his foot in panic. He should not have lashed out and admitted it immediately. I could understand if he had argued about the ball hitting the ground after his foot but he argued that his foot did not even touch the net.

We need video review for net touches and not up calls. Turns out the umpire got the call right, but the players and fans would feel a lot better if we could confirm these calls on court or overturn the bad ones. Very respectful handshake between the two - a couple of class acts.

Fernandof1293, are you for real!!!. The umpire is RIGHT ABOVE the net and can see perfectly that his toe hit the net and he KNEW he had touched the net too and threw his racquet to thd floor. Definitely NOT a class act!!!.

The umpire is there to make those calls and if the crowd has such little respect and they should go watch another sport.

The entire concept of "I don't know if I touched the net because I was sliding for 5 feet on a hard court" is so new.

Next thing you might want is a voting system whereby the audience takes a vote to decide the call. LOL. That's what umpires do and why sports can be full of drama. Hurkacz was sure that his racket did not touch the net, but he didn't realize his foot did.

I loved the sportsmanship from grigor after. He doesn't celebrate due to the controversial call that might have saved the day for him. Just a solid all-around player.

He’s also 15-3 in three setters in the last 52 weeks! Only lost to Djokovic, Sinner and Medvedev. 10-3 in tiebreaks this year too. There was a time when it didn’t make any difference if he’d lose 5-7 or go to a tiebreak because always lost them. I like this new Grigor

If his foot touched the net after the point ended (ball hit court and bounced out), Hurkacz should have gotten the point. But we would have to look at both things at once.

@@AlyoshaKaramazov.True, but rewatching the regular speed footage you can see the call comes before the ball bounces out, just after Hurkacz pulls himself back from the net. So you can align the two videos that way

The ball is still live until it bounces a second time. Dimitrov was not going to be able to return that shot but Hubi still touched the net before the point was over, the umpire made the correct call.

Man what a tough call he did touch but for Hubi’s argument Grigor looked like he turned his back and the point was over but the ball bounced twiced AFTER he touched the net so it was a fair call just really unfortunate

I feel Dimi works so hard for these wins by being less strategic about his shot selection than his opponents. Highlights here show him putting in a lot more athletic effort (always crowd pleasing) than Hubi's more economical movements based off how he's making Dimi move around so much around the court. Great stuff Dimi but wow good luck recovering in time for the next match buddy.

These points made the highlights because they’re more entertaining for the fans to watch. Who wants to watch highlights of 30 points where it’s a serve plus one? Dimitrov had 46 winners (!!!!!) vs 29 for Hubi. Don’t be misled by Dimitrov’s highlights, he has the ability to defend and steal points but he’s aggressive enough these days.

Good points. While it seemed that court conditions didn't favour a more aggressive net game, you feel that Grigor could have ended some points sooner on some occasions. Lucky he has a day to recover.

Again Dinitov shows how to conduct oneself in the spirit of the game with how he behaved at the end by not celebrating the win. He knew there was a controversial call on a critical point and was respectful to Huby. An absolute class act and gentleman, apart from the tennis no wonder he is known as baby Federer.

I believe Herbie knew he touched the net with his foot and threw his racket out of frustration. It wasn’t really a mistake on his part. His momentum simply dragged him forward into the net.

I believe he didn't feel it. He may have suspected the call was correct, but it was such a light touch that it would have been incredibly frustrating no to have felt it and be sure for himself.

Gr8t match between the two played in the right spirit..class act by Hubi at the handshake with dimi & the chair umpire, many other players would have given a cold one & scooted to the locker room...it was clear his foot touched the net but in the heat of the moment he did not realise...only a man with self respect & humility will acknowledge his mistake😊

1:34 thats it. a one-handed backhand cross! just like most people play with 2 hands! if you can do it, you remove the advantage from 2 hander over 1 hander. Dimitrov shows it every week

Шикарная подача была в угол с высоким отскоком, но Григор очень хорошо зарезал мяч, из за чего Хуби пришлось гораздо шустрее двигаться к сетке, сложно сказать, мог ли он избежать касания сетки, он скользил на автомате, делал это неоднократно на протяжении всего матча. Димитров красавец 💪

This video has him hitting the shot from the back of the court and from the side of the court. I did screen captures and the video from the side of the court clearly shows that his foot slid into the net. The video from the back of the court shows his foot touching while the ball was around the service line and it landed about 3 feet fro the baseline. I also got a capture of him hitting the ball and his racquetface was open which is why the ball landed so deep - he gave the ball a fair amount of air.
