I am skeptical the 6800M was already running way too hot and it was 145W+20W and it was already problematic on full power. (my laptop would shut down if I played for 45 minutes on turbo mode, and it now, after replacing the cooling solution with better thermalpads and kryosheets throttles with turbo and runs very hot on performance) the 7900M seems to go to 180W? (Alienware is saying 160W with 200W with smartshift? 200W?! Maybe with XMG Oasis, cant see it with air cooling).

It's incredible to think that a laptop 4080 can be faster than a desktop 3080. I never would've thought last-gen laptop GPUs could surpass the previous-gen of desktop GPUs anytime soon, but here we are. 🎉

You just dont know tech. The lithographic jump was going to be big, that was known way before current gen launched. Transistor tech + architectural analysis led to big improvements in efficiency, so 320w old gen hardware being matched by 175w new hardware was very very likely. Dont act as if this were magic or a miracle.

Amazing work! Would love to see a video comparing laptop efficiency after taking steps like undervolting and overclocking. We all see the max power consumptions, but no one is really covering real world power consumption and how much it can be optimized. Especially important for gaming laptops.

The effort and time went into this project (like you stated, 400 hours) is absurd and nuts but that just goes to show your dedication in pure, unbiased testing/journalism in PC hardware.
