depends heavily on the food. A lot of wet food has very high salt content, which is bad for the kidneys for obvious reasons. It's also regional, in Europe for example the standards to which pet food is made are extremely high, almost at the same level as food for humans. In the UK and USA they're a LOT lower.

I too noticed a dramatic improvemnt in my fur babies health when I went to raw meats. The fur was softer, teeth cleaner, over-all health of the cats and dog vastly improved. I was surprised at how even my fussest eater took to the raw meat almost immediately where she was so picky about what brand of can food I gave her before.

I had very good luck with the raw diet as well. All my cats and dogs did so well and I think I added years onto their lives. My lovely tuxedo kitty (yup that was his name) was diagnosed with kidney disease and I went to a dog and cat food specialist and placed him on a high quality canned food at first and educated myself on what to look for in a good quality food for my dogs and cats. They were my fur kid absolutely and eventually I began working at the store. Please for the sake of your beloved pets do your research into whist GOOD QUALITY PET FOOD SHOULD BE! You’ll spend more day to day but you’ll save tons on vet bills. My tux kitty lived to be 18 years and he was only supposed to last a year or two more because the vet estimated he only had about 1/4 of his kidneys functioning. All my guys lived long and healthy lives. God blessed me with good advice and so I was able to keep them all well for a long time.
