If you're tired of the sweater, out of fashion, or just don't like it, it's time to put it to use. For example, you can sew a pillow from it, and if you take several sweaters, you will get a warm blanket. I’ve already sewn something like this in a patchwork style, lined, it turned out very warm and cozy, it’s in great demand here in winter.
You can also sew a hat, socks, mittens, bags and clothes for your pets. I even have a skirt made from my husband’s sweater in my wardrobe. If you think about it, every piece of knitwear will come in handy.
And of course, it’s the right time to sew vests. The days are getting cooler and you can’t help but wonder what to throw on your shoulders. The easiest way is to cut off the sleeves and the vest is ready. And if you work a little, it will be a more elegant thing. Even a small sweater will make a vest 3 sizes larger. Well, of course, not from a child's room.
I had such a case, I bought myself a sweater - pure wool, soft, beautiful, expensive. When it was time to wash it, I threw it in the washing machine. When I opened the door, I didn’t find my sweater inside, only a small lump.
When I unwrapped it, I saw a sweater for a 6-year-old child, the wool felt like a felt boot. Then I cut out the insoles from it. It turns out that it had to be dry cleaned.
1) First you need to rip the side seams and open the sleeves, do not cut, in order to save every centimeter.
2) Make a cut in the middle, cut off the excess at the neck and form a V-shaped neck.
I will process all the edges with strips from the sleeves. It is necessary to calculate the width of the strip so that it is enough for all the seams, this is approximately 4.5 cm.
3) I applied the strip to the front side, then turned it over to the wrong side to a width of 1.5 cm and sewed it in, and sewed the edges of the strip with a zigzag. In this way I processed the front, sleeves and side seams at the same time, they are not connected.
4) Now the main secret is how to increase your vest by 3 sizes.
5) To do this, you will need a strip that you stitched under the armhole. The finished length of each is 6 cm. The straps are sewn from elastic from the sleeves.
6) At waist level I sewed two ties on each side. Thanks to them, the vest can be made smaller or larger.
7) If the sweater is still very small, then combine the vest with another suitable fabric.
As you can see, the model is not complicated, no pattern is needed.
