Currently, stores have a huge selection of clothes, but, nevertheless, women are increasingly resorting to making things with their own hands. This activity not only saves your budget, but also allows you to show your talents.
If you are just learning to sew, it is better to start with lightweight models with a minimum of seams and decorative details. A hoodie is the simplest dress that anyone can sew.
This is exactly the dress I would like to suggest you make. It would make great loungewear. But if you choose a beautiful color, you can go out in public in it.
This pattern can be customized to suit you. The main measurement is chest circumference. Measured in a circle parallel to the floor along the shoulder blades and along the most protruding points of the chest.
1) When making the pattern, I added 2 cm to the chest circumference.
2) Made the sleeve width 23 cm instead of 20 cm.
One length of fabric 120 cm, width 150 cm was enough for me. If you are plus size, then take two lengths.
The front and back parts are the same, the difference is the deeper neckline in the front.
I joined them right sides together and sewed the shoulder and side seams. I tried it on, everything fit perfectly, the dress was comfortable, moderately loose.
Neck:
- First I laid a stabilizing line. It is especially needed when sewing things from thin and knitted fabrics. The main task is to prevent the product from being cut from stretching.
- To finish the neckline I will use bias tape. To avoid mistakes, I measured the neckline in a circle.
- I closed the tape into a circle and folded it in half. I pinned the facing to the neckline from the front side and stitched it.
- Then I turned it inside out, basted it and stitched it. The result is an immediately processed edge.
- I simply folded the sleeves with a double hem. I hemmed the bottom.
Fitting.
With a belt, the dress looks fitted and feminine.
If you take a denser fabric, you can make the sleeve long; to do this, you need to extend the sleeve lines on the pattern.
