The irony is that they’re already in a larger living space. You probably couldn’t get this in the door of an ordinary apartment or house. Also, chairs and beds don’t just need to save space, they need to be comfortable - unless you’re trying to get guests to move on. In that case, the best solution is no beds for guests and only folding chairs (lawn furniture?) to sit on (other than the floor). Saves money and aggravation from pesky guests. 😂

I am a beginner to woodwork, the main test I have with this bundle ukposts.infoUgkxTNB_zFBSnTo_O1PqfVUwgi7ityw0JlKt is that I think that its hard to settle on a choice of the plan and outline to use as there are a large portion of them there. Nonetheless, I like the simple stride to step directions laid out there.

tbh, my biggest problem with most of this kind of furniture is that no matter how small you can tuck it away, you still need a room big enough to open it up in. It does probably work if all the furniture in folds away to a different side so you can have the room in different "modes", I guess? still need to have a bedroom big enough to fit a double bed in.

@@dorisbarreto347 I live in HK, man. Most of our apartments have pretty cramped bedrooms if it’s not the master bedroom and sometimes even then. And that’s only in more modern apartment complexes. The fold up tub is an ooold idea. Originally called cabinet tubs. The thumb was made of galvanized sheet metal. In NYC tenantments 1870' s the big tub was under a wire spring platform for a mattress. Water was brought in by buckets from kitchen, and dipped out
@davehood2667

@@davehood2667 there is a trend to install " Bathroom in a box" in small apartments in Australia. sorta what is considered a "Studio" apartment in USA. Part of the complaint is the Head of Your bed, on the wall with neighbor "Head" you can hear everything. Cheaper apartments is the goal.

@davehood2667
@davehood2667 11 місяців тому
@@l.5832 Hard to say with a showroom model that isn't hooked up to anything. It might have flexible lines like a washing machine, or since it looks like a Japanese style of tub it may be designed to go over the floor drains most bathrooms there have. Either way the thing's a vanity toy, it's neither compact nor economical.

All of these units would be great for tiny homes, boats, reworking an rv. Not just a home, guest room / office etc. Really cool designs. Love this channel. Thank you for sharing. I have always liked the Murphy beds. Never had one. How great would it be for a child's room when it's on the smallish side and you don't feel its safe yet for a loft bed for the child in question. I am surprised that I have not seen any of these in any of the many "tiny homes" videos I have seen... I think many of them would work well in tiny homes
@kameljoe21
@kameljoe21 Рік тому
Because they cost thousands and thousands of dollars. The bunk bed couch thing that is seen everywhere is like 10k dollars. Though most tiny homes are dumb and stupid waste of money in the first place. All of the people who buy tiny homes all have dreams of living somewhere new every few weeks when they just sit in the same spot for years never moving because they wasted 100k on a trailer that was useless rather than going and checking out every motor home, camper, 5th wheel on the market and consulting with a fabricator who can alter, change the lay out and style of the unit. Then using the money saved you can put 20k in to a fully retractable solar system that can provide you with around 20kwh of solar and a large enough battery bank. Tiny home movement along with the shipping container movement has ripped a lot of people off. Most of these people who can afford to drop 100k on a tiny home, most of them work remotely anyways. They can afford to go to the country and or a small town and build a very simple 900 square foot 1 bedroom 1 bath house. I have a plan which gives you a very large area along with a king size bed room and a large bathroom and closet area along with a large office/living area. You could do away with the bed room and use a king size Murphy bed. Yet not everyone works the same shift.
@amystern123
@amystern123 11 місяців тому
People with tiny homes are either handy, or hired a company to build the tiny, which also builds in the furniture they need. This furniture is more expensive than what they would pay to build their own solutions. The market for these are people who rent a studio apartment in expensive cities like NYC or the Bay Area (to give US examples). They probably aren't handy, and they're spending their time on a job which pays well, so they wouldn't have time to build it themselves, and hiring a local contractor would cost much more than these prices.
@kameljoe21
@kameljoe21 11 місяців тому
@@amystern123 They are handy stupid and those who have money clearly do not know what they are doing. There are many people who have been screwed over by tiny homes and there are many who make it work and end up saving a lot of money. Yet in the end all of those savings end up buy a house to which they are again broke. Those who work remote end up buying really expensives motor homes and running the roads in which they end up spending more or less than they would have. Most people end up settling down after a few years. Those who do not have no ties and do not mind being broke all the time.

Same The reason why I went with an Ottoman bed instead of a Murphy one was because tbh, 9 times out of 10, I'll want the bed to be face down and ready to go essentially The TV one makes sense because you'll mostly just use it for the TV, until someone comes over Equally I'm quite fond of the tables because most of the time you only need a small thing for yourself but if you've got guests, it instantly transforms. @AntonKolesnyk
@AntonKolesnyk Рік тому
I love the ideas, but I think most of the folding beds could be problematic when it comes to hitting your toes or lower part of your legs. Most of the beds have protruding legs and frame around the mattress is bigger than the mattress itself. Combine that with the fact that the bed is not always there so you have less of a muscle memory to avoid that space when walking. Many beds have mattresses pretty low for you to fall over them as you walk there as usual because, again, you don't have muscle memory that there is a mattress laying low there. Folding bunk beds in this video don't look very safe. I would do them differently, with many inherently failsafe design decisions, or abandon the idea of a folding bunk bed all together. It doesn't mean I don't believe the idea of a Murphy bed, but I would rather make one myself, with rounded bed frame corners, legs under the mattress instead of on the sides, mattress being wider than the frame, maybe some parts with dampers, and also I would put mattress higher. It should also have good cable management, usb and electric outlets, especially if it transforms into a desk. I have seen some designs which are brilliant, but all doesn't look so great as you realize you need cables to plug all that stuff up. I would also make sure there are no gaps around the mattress as it is easily to drop stuff there - a phone, for example.

Many good options, mechanics that can be used in different areas. Health should be considered with electronic waves, materials, oils, fragrances, etc. Or endure if the body reacts to it. In Japan one has the old possibility to keep a thick cotton blanket on a natural floor. I liked the last Murphy bed with the gold surround. Most Murphy’s pull straight out and if floor space is limited pulling out the bed takes up any space. This bed pulls out north/south and uses less room. With people moving into Tiny Houses or other alternative living arrangements this model only uses the width of the bed rather then the length. Plus it’s in a single bed size! Don’t bother looking it up on the internet. Everything is in Italian so you don’t know what it says!!

These are brilliant solutions for tiny homes that needs to optimize space and have whats put in it preform more than one function. One of my favs eas the bed that performed 4 functions. The brst part is not having to clear the shelves or desk before going to bed. How cool is thst? Can't wait to see what they come up with next and have them @ IKEA prices so everyone can afford them.

I don't see how murphy beds save space. When its in the upright position you have to have everything cleared out in front of it, and there's no space for storage that you probably would have under a normal bed. I think the bed that drops down from the ceiling is a better idea , but what if it suddenly stops working just as your reading to sleep? Your stuck sleeping on the floor unless you have another bed somewhere. The only one's I see as usefull are the one's that convert from a couch or desk. The space in front of those are usually cleared out anyway, except maybe a coffee table.

*The Moveable Bathtub @ **5:30** looks like a proof of concept with several issues - but the idea of a drop-down tub is great as it gives you a Tub when needed and a large Shower area when it is not needed.* Issues include: The way that they fold the tub out is dumb - It should fold down like a Murphy bed. The doors are awful - a single panel under the tub would be better to hide the tub when not in use They don't show the faucets to fill the tub - easy to add and they fold against the wall when not in use The curb around the Shower area when the Tub is up is terrible - they should be using a linear drain Not an issue: The tub drains into the normal shower area so no issue with sewer gases, etc I'm in the process of adding mine and will post a video when done (I'm utilizing a dead space in the bathroom to hold the tub since the current dead space is required to give the downstairs stairs its necessary head space)

I have a table similar to the first dining table. They sell chairs that fold flat and take up maybe 2” of depth. They show them hanging on the wall or in a closet. Some of the tables store the chairs inside. My table is similar to the Box table, going up and down on crossed legs. Mine does not store leafs inside. Instead, my tabletop is double stacked. I slide the table around 90 degrees, then open it like a book. It doubles in size. We use the sofa as a banquet seat and bring up dining chairs from the basement for the other three sides. Fits six nicely. Costs about $2000. Made in Italy. It gives us a dining table again. I put a big island in the kitchen with stools along the long side, so four can sit there comfortably. Now we also have a dining space again. Our house never had a dining room, just a space in the kitchen for a table (before I put the island there).

None of these are new inventions, they are just copied from the originals that were invented decades ago and some even centuries ago. The fold down Murphy stile tub was actually invented in 1880 by Mosely, infact Bruschke & Ricke’s invented the concealed Sofa and Bathtub during the same period. The Antique Expandomatic table went from 1 foot wide to 6 feet long, created in the 1920's by Saginaw. There was even a wood Folding Bakers Rack invented around during the Victorian Era. Even the wood and canvas Accordion folding Officers bed used by the military during the Civil War among the very versatile and compact furniture invented as far back as the 18th century, the great thing is they have lasted for over 100 to 200 years unlike the pieces made today that will be lucky to have a 20 year life span before falling apart.

Why post video’s of furniture and then do not provide information on where to buy? I went to their website, NOTHING! What a scam! I wanted to see the prices.
