Welcome guys! I made a video where I made 10 (low poly) cars in 10 minutes. Check that one out first if you haven't seen i =) • Let's Make 10 CARS in ...
I'm starting a little video series where I put those cars into a simple top-down style racing game. This is not going to be a tutorial, but some things I will cover more in details then other.
In this first episode, I show how I modeled the track and terrain in blender.
Tools used in this series:
* Blender 2.82
* Unity 2019.x
I hope you enjoy the video! Take care, stay safe, and have fun!

Oh wow, these are tutorials at its finest form, and how every tutorial should be. Short introduction, visual elements like drawings to clearly show what you're currently doing, no useless information or information overflow, straight to the point, clear structure, etc etc. Keep it up. This youtube channel is so fricking awesome and I'm so happy that I discovered your channel.

Wow. This is quite inspirational. I've only ever played around with Unity before, never made an actual game. Seeing this makes me want to learn more. On top of that, the modelling of the cars and the track look like fun. And I really haven't done any modelling in far too long. Good video!

what a true gem of a channel! I am currently just a few months into learning Blender, but it's tough to stay motivated. I'm also trying to get into Unity as well... then I see this project! So cool. Love your video style, clearly high effort. Hotkeys shown, steps shown, but still concise and respectful of our time. Wonderful, thank you! Earned the subscription to be sure.

Just a tip: You can use "bridge edge loops" instead of repeatedly select 2 edges and press F to make a face (when making the overpass) Edit: Also you can model the track using lots of separate object and join them (Ctrl+J) before exporting to unity.
@Xdarkness83x

If you some day do decide to use a texture for your track without blurred texture when you zoom in in Unity, you can just apply/make those textures as you would normally. Then in Unity, select the texture map. With this selected you can set it to use Point instead of bilinear to keep the hard edges. This will, like you said, increase performance, but since you have a low poly count, I don't think it will impact it that much. Anyway, great video and I look forward for the next one!

Thank you for these kind of tutorials. Really gives me a good insight in how to design for games. You and Grant Abbitt are the ones to follow, so it seems. I went to college especially for learning to program to one day be able to make games. But over here, they never provided lessons that focused on that kind of development. No creating graphics and only programming for getting and setting data from and to databases. Boring stuff. So learned all the graphical stuff on my own, but never really knew how to approach it for games (good free software wasn't easy to get back then). I've started creating my own arcade racing game just a week ago (not high-poly, not low-poly, but something in between - mid-poly? :) ) and it has become a lot easier to tackle on because of tutorials like yours and Grant Abbitt (and others for the programming/game-engine). This game is in Unity, right? How difficult is it to setup the car physics and get the cars moving? Right now I'm using Godot 3.2 for that (video can be seen on my channel). Any experience with Godot (in 3D)? Cheers and thanks again. Excited to see what's coming for next episode.
