Thank you for demonstrating the serial/parallel channel operation, hardly anyone does when they demonstrate a benchtop PSU. Its kind of a critical item to understand how it works and what the limitations are on a given power supply other than "yeah it does it".

Thanks! It's a pretty useful functionality if you ask me!

Thanks for the review. I really like the UI of this unit and the internal serial/parallel configuration is very slick. I've been on the verge of picking up a couple Siglent SPD1305X units, but this UNI-T is wining me over. That said, the proprietary file formats and Windows-only application are likely going to keep me looking. Other than those warts, this appears to be a good power supply and the UI is just fantastic. I'll look forward to the teardown video.

Yeah it's not great that they use a binary file format, but people have already reversed engineered some of that github.com/philpagel/udp3305s Additionally I don't think it will be easy to find a PSU with these features, in this price range, that will come with something like multi OS app support..

an amazing, outstanding PSU, got mine (exact same version, exact) here in February... so only about 4 weeks ago. Still haven't used it but damn it's so nice all the possibilities. Makes you want to get a 2nd one... and i shall dutifully watch your video once it's finished downloaded. To leave another comment about after watching

yeah voltlog - your review video here is perfect. it covers all the things a person needs to know. And puts into proper context etc. All very good. And whilst I am on linux here, showing the software side on PC also great to see that bit too. Very much so 😋💙

I'm sure we will see some project offering alternative multi-platform support in the form of SCPI commands.

Thanks for the review of the Uni-T PSU, I am not currently in the market for a new PSU as I purchased a Hantek HDP4424 12 months ago (very happy with the unit). It is still interesting to compare other devices on the market. Both the Uni-T and Hantek units have similar output specifications, the main differences are in the UI and front panel. I am a little jealous of the Uni-T quick voltage selection on channel 3, as you have noted in the review, very useful for today's digital electronics. The biggest downfall for the Hantek is the price comming in at around AU$1100 compared to the Unit-T around AU$600. Thanks again for your review efforts.

Thanks for the feedback! I just had a look at the Hantek HDP4424 and indeed seems to have very similar specs. Less total output power and the GUI seems less ideal than what we have on the UNI-T but does come with a fully adjustable 4th channel so if you really need that.. might be an option.

Is there a teardown ?
@dreamcat4
@dreamcat4 Місяць тому
i believe there might already be teardown photos somewhere, there is an existing eevblog thread. And also another guy's blog post article on this device. So if you search "eevblog UDP3305S" and then trawl through the forum threads. Should hit upon it.

That's actually pretty decent looking. I have been eyeing a Rigol but reluctant to hit the button on it maybe this is the one.

yeah like I said I feel like UNI-T seriously stepped up their game with this instrument and pricing it slightly lower than the competition while offering more features I think more and more people will adopt it to their workbenches...
@thomasw6169
@thomasw6169 22 дні тому
Its basically a two channel PSU, the other two are not full. Also the ch3 preset button is dangerous, as you might accidentally hit it.

Great video. There is not much I don't like about this PSU, love the layout, form factor and functionality. The only thing I would do is take off those bumpers on the corners which appear to be removable.
@dreamcat4
@dreamcat4 Місяць тому
yes i have this PSU too here... and those rubber bumpers are indeed (all 4) removable (and in fact swappable front-back). Because one set has more protection than the other end. You can also probably use those nicely beefy threaded holes on the 8 corners (where the bumpers attaches) for instead some alternative homebrew rackmounting no problems. Since it's heavy and all that. Should be fine though. My only main criticism of this PSU is that there is not coming with a rear output on the back panel. However maybe that also can be homebrewed and done later on. With some minor works onto it. However have not bothered to look into any of that yet. Just an idea at this stage. BTW ian: if you do end up wanting to get one in UK here, then i got mine last month from 'elongeyes' website (direct). And it was both cheapest price there. And also excellent service. I checked out the elongeyes business and they seem to be like a legit chinese reseller here in uk. (just not to expect any product support, this is uni-t after all). But basically getting the thing and with a professional quality of rapid service, very good courier etc. Everything went absolutely fine and professionally logistically speaking from those guys.

Nice on the usb channel, but it would be of value if the uni-t could provide usb-c power levels for frankly is becoming a more common option for power delivery prototyping .
@voltlog
@voltlog Місяць тому
I mean from a user point of view any cool feature would be nice to have, I agree but that would certainly increase it's cost a fair bit and it won't be something that everyone needs. If it would be an option and it would cost you $70 extra would you pay that much to get it? Maybe that's a way it could work so not everyone is forced to pay for it.

Too bad you never finished your custom Gophert front panel upgrade. Oh well, at least your video is what inspired me to do it. Mine are still going strong and, with the new front panel, are my favorite bench PSUs.
@voltlog
@voltlog Місяць тому
The Gophert PSU still has a special place for me, I did a lot of projects on that PSU, however it can't compete with something as advanced as this UNI-T 3305S PSU.

Hello VoltLog, I am on a fence of purcasing the Owon SP 6103 from Banggood. I know there were some issues with the display but I like the big transformer from inside😂. Do you see any other better one for the price? Thank you & 73, DE1CTL

What's the difference between the 3055S and the 3055S-E? On Amazon the S seems to be more expensive than the S-E.

I've been looking for something that can take a USB-C PPS supply and make it's output user controllable. 🤔

I think there are various user projects doings that on the internet, I have not seen anything more professional in that form factor thought.

I can't believe they have a series option but not a dual supply tracking option that you need for almost every analog circuit. Such a shame because it looks quite good, but that is a complete fail for me. You should really have pointed this limitation out.
