People said that about Shalom & Fraizer clarke who just wasn't ready for Wardley. 1 year later they both got an even bigger fight & payday & Clarke had 2 more fights & plenty of rounds. For context Wardley fight was 1st time Clarke was in a 12 rounder. Same with 21yo Azim, he's already defended his title, no shame in dropping it for a fight that only gets bigger as he learns

@@selenkiy8147 True it's a duck, but in this case you can see why. Dalton is basically taking a stepback from fringe world level to fight a European guy, not something Azim's camp could've expected. No shame in vacating cause he's already defended the belt once which is something you're not meant to hang onto as most fighter go to fringe world level or specific fights their trainers want to learn anyway. Shoe on the other foot, If Hearn needed stars in his stable he too would do the same with Azim, but just better management re PR

@EggieHen what circles? The British Board ordered Azim fight for the British title against Smith and the EBU ordered Azim to defend his belt against Smith. So this was never Matchroom, Hearn or Smith asking for this fight, it was governing bodies ordering those fights. Of course, they used the situation as a talking point.......but were enabled to do so because Boxxer once again badly managed the situation allowing space for Azim to be criticised. Azim wasn't part of their plan for Smith, but the fights being ordered allowed him to be used as part of the promotional narrative for Smith. All Boxxer did is exactly what Hearn/Matchroom said they were going to do from the outset, and that is duck his EBU mandatory, duck his British title shot, vacate his EBU title and not fight Smith as he wasn't good enough, yet. It looks like Boxxer ran rings around themselves, and out of desperation to change the narrative announced a fight they didn't even have signed yet.

Hard to know what fight Dalton needs to position himself for a possible WBC title shot without the rankings being updated. Currently still #13 and you'd think picking up the Silver title will push him much higher but as of today will no update. Strange.

Hearn spent most of 2023 banging on about how much he VADA tests yet blindly backed a guy who failed x2 VADA tests & was backing a legal precedent that would mean UK fighters who failed VADA wouldn't have to be investigated due to jurisdiction

The Azim-Smith fight shouldn't happen now and the truth is that Azim is 21 with zero senior amateur experience/still developing, whereas Dalton is 27 and ready to step up. Eddie knows that Dalton can't beat the 140 pounders in his stable like Hitchins and Matias so he's latching on to an inexperienced Azim which also helps build Smith's profile. I definitely agree that Shalom and the Mcguigan's haven't managed this situation well in the slightest but Eddie would have done the same had the roles been reversed as we've seen in the past with his fighters. Also, how many mandatories does one have to defend against before they can vacate the EBU without it being considered ducking? This is all just a PR move from Hearn and it helps distract you casual fans from the Conor Benn result/situation.

I'm actually glad there was nothing about Conor Benn. Sick of hearing about the guy. Hopefully, Matchroom and Eddie just focus on the real talent and great roster they've got now. I.E Dalton Smith. Matchroom are truly the only active world wide boxer promotional company. No one is doing it like them, no matter what any1 says. Fights in UK, Europe, America, Saudi, Mexico etc. So glad matchroom and Queensbury are working together. Boxxer in my eyes put on some great fights but have gone down hugely I My estimation. Everything shalom said when he came in was an utter lie. I want to work with everyone. He forgot to add that there was a caveat with that tho ie has to be on sky. He will not allow any of his fighters to go on to an another show so pulls them out of purse bids, now had Clarke, Azim, Dubois, chev Clarke mandatory now. Riakpoare as well. So that’s 5 fights he has pulled out of, pretty much most of them was with matchroom.

Eddie hearn went too far with his comments regarding Boxxer and the Azim situation, it got very close to bullying. Boxxer are in a difficult spot, Matchroom had their foot on Boxxer's neck and Eddie went for the kill unnecessarily. It makes no sense for Aziz to fight Smith at this time. Aziz is not ready and it will be bad for Boxxer's business if Azim loses. It makes no difference to Matchroom if Dalton loses, Matchroom business is so big, they would just move onto the next fighter.
