depends on the season and whether or not you've "tamed" them. Australian Magpies are quite intelligent and can remember people's faces, so if you feed them they'll consider you as a friend, thus won't attack you during breeding season. I think they might also be able to tell their friends not to attack you, because none of the Magpies in my local area have attacked me so far. they'll also only attack you if you're on a bike or scooter, if you just walk then they do not care

we just destroy their nests before the babies hatch. that way the future magpies are dead and the adults wont have a reason to swoop because their babies are gone.

Nor here in the UK. I have two in my garden. I think they must be.a different species of Magpie in Australia.

While they are called magpies here in Aus, they are completely diff species to the northern hemisphere birds. Named by British colonisers cos they looked a bit similar. Called Kulbardi in Noongar language here in Perth, West Aus.
