They weren’t great, but the East was garbage at the time, AND that team fit Kidd really well. They were really good defensively (Kidd’s best attribute was actually his defense-one of the top 3-5 PG defenders ever who could defend 1-3 easy 1-4 in some cases). Plus those Nets teams had some of the best lob finishers of the era. Kenyon Martin was a FREAK athlete on those Nets teams. Richard Jefferson was a really good athlete. Vince obviously was when he was there. Kittles was good out in transition too and a phenomenal defender. Keith Van Horn was a really good mobile/stretch 4 for that era.

Delvin William well yea it’s different when u locate a teammate before u even look for a pass. @thankyouverymochi
@thankyouverymochi 4 роки тому
SuperMisteryMan01 you gotta penetrate the lane in straight line, that way, your team will be able to know that whatever happens, u will be running straight fasttt... and then they (teammate) will sprint or position themself. also when you sprint straight line, the defender will focus on you, leaving your teammate open.. I know the way I explain this may be too ‘simple’ for it to create a highlight tape like in the video, but honestly I watch every kidd’s highlight and this is how he do it... and you just add creativity, talent, awareness if you have one, bcs not everyone has a knack as good as jason kidd, but you can still be good though...

MrBrenman21 The Nets of 2001-02 feasted on mediocre Eastern teams for that defensive rating. Yet when they played the Lakers in the 2002 Finals, their defensive rating jumped from 99.5 to 116+. The best team the Nets faced, the Celtics, ranked 18th in offense and won 49 games. Meanwhile, the Lakers faced a 61 win team, a 58 win team and 49 win team...in the first round! That team, the Blazers, had a notably better offensive ranking than the Pierce Celtics, and a higher ranking in SRS. The early 90s East was about as impressive as Jason Kidd's jumper. As far as telling others to shut up, I can tell you're foolish enough to believe that having the last word is akin to winning an argument. A great marker of a moron. Be sure to prove me right with another asinine response about the "tough" Eastern conference of the early 00s.
@mortenpotzdidler4677
@mortenpotzdidler4677 6 років тому
MrBrenman21 They played the West 34% of the time -- that means they feasted on weak East comp in 2/3 of their games, helping to drive up their stats. You also need to quit lying about the 2003 Pistons -- a team that was not the same as their 2004 iteration, starting with the lack of Rasheed Wallace. In fact, the Pistons were a team that won fewer than 60% of their games before the Wallace trade in 2004; after they won over 80%. The Nets did not defeat the same team in 2003. The idea that the 2003 pre-Rasheed Pistons were better than the 2003 Spurs is laughable. As far as fags, you're the one pulling information from your ass, all so you can fit a certain object up it: namely, your own head. Innumerate moron.
@mortenpotzdidler4677
@mortenpotzdidler4677 6 років тому
MrBrenman21 A technically "weak" team you called a contender, originally, while pretending that the pre-Rasheed Wallace Pistons were the same as the Pistons with Wallace. The point of the whole conversation is that the Nets were an incredibly weak Finals team, and therefore Kidd's "achievement" in taking them there is an accident of conference. If he played with this team in the West, they'd be lucky to make it to the 2nd round. Let me explain, since you're a bit slow on those numbers. The Nets of 02 were 17-11 against the West -- a 60% winning percentage. Against the East they were 35-19 -- a 65% winning percentage. Without considering the fact that in-conference schedules are not as balanced as inter-conference (they played each West team exactly two times), the Nets would have likely won fewer than 50 games if they were in the West. If you directly translate the Nets' record to the Western bracket, they would have played the 57 win Mavericks in the first round -- a team far better than any they faced in the East. And a team that record states was better than they were. If they had somehow upset the Mavs, they would have faced the 61 win Kings in the second round. Further, if we translate their win % against the West into a full season, they likely would have had a record about as good as Portland's -- 49 wins and a first round date with the Lakers. The same Lakers team that swept them. This team would have been, quite possibly, a first round out in the Western Conference. That's how much stronger the West was. But keep talking: your replies become more ridiculous as you go. It's like watching a half-literate boy drown in text form, then discover his father's a monkey. Tragic. Just as predicted.

7:29 was ridiculous, you have to slow it down to .5 or .25 speed to fully appreciate the brilliance. Momentum taking him out of bounds, half a second... still enough time for him to read the court and look off the defender to the wrong way and make the pass after waiting for the defender to bite on his lookoff and make the pass a no-looker just in case the lookoff didn't work. Nets were good. They had the misfortune of having to play against the two greatest teams of the decade in those finals, two of the greatest coaches of all time, and three of the ten greatest players of all time. Duncan’s game 6 against them (2 blocks shy of a quadruple double) was an all-timer.

This video was satisfying to watch. Crazy how great of a playmaker he was he truly made a lot of mediocre guys into better players.
