in one of his interviews Dave told a story how he quibbled with his Dad as a young kid that being a comedian is better than being a teacher like his Dad. Little did he know then that he will become one of the most incredible teachers out there. It only worked for Dave because he was such a likable and relatable comedian. He had so much cache with the public that he was able to weaponize it. He couldn't win in court but he could win in public. Good things happen to men who do good things. A truth teller was saved by telling the truth.

@atom5341Рік тому
@@JohnSmith-yd5wq obviously you are unaware of the details. Dave Chappelle produced 500 million dollars, comedy central told him that the money made far exceeded the scope of the contract so they were not going to pay him the 50% as stated in the contract. No, they would pay him 50 million, 10%. They also told him that if he left without taking that deal they would ruin him. Dave said no and hopped on a plane from L.A. to Ohio. @RaphaelDawkinsCombatRadioРік тому
@@atom5341 Exactly.
@nuknukisdead9 місяців тому
@@JohnSmith-yd5wq Originally, he didn't make millions because the original contract was before the show became a hit. Several people involved with the show confirmed this, they barely got paid for the 2 seasons because it started as an experiment with a C/D list celebrity. The show was 2.5 seasons in and they were negotiating an extension; at this point, the show was a huge hit so he had some leverage during negotiations. The reason he stepped away was because they wanted him to tone down his show and language to attract more sponsors and a wider audience. He walked away because he wanted the freedom to do his comedy his way. He's doing the same thing now. While other people are afraid of being canceled, he keeps doing his comedy his way.

@Nick Traeger in all fairness I posted my original comment before listening to the entire podcast. I'm also disappointed that people I respect(ed) are buying into turning the tables of discrimination instead of trying to move forward together. As the God-awful-father of anti-racism, Ibram Kendi says, "the only remedy to past discrimination is current discrimination and the only remedy to current discrimination is future discrimination". That sounds an awful lot like an eye for an eye makes the whole world blind and it punishes my children of something they are not guilty of. To me, that makes no sense and only serves to divide us against ourselves. People that don't support BLM are not pro-racism they are pro-thoughtful discussion and resent the aggressively enforced inability to engage in one.

What’s crazy is that the Clayton Bigsby skit was in the first episode of Chappelle show. Dave wasn’t playing around he got straight to the point.
