SLITHERx CONJURING problem is his off the field issues really wasn't why he was under performing in the NFL. Jonny knew how to run and make plays when the pocket collapsed that's all he knew. He was never a pocket passer. He barely studied defenses because he didn't have too he made all his plays on the run that's all he knew. Excellent college player could have been a decent NFL player with the proper education and work ethic. He was a star he was popular. He cared more for the fame than anything. Nobody "lets" him do anything. Every defense he faces has DON"T LET HIM RUN at the top of their must-do list. Yet every game, particularly at the end of the season, he had huge success running the football. He's that unstoppable NFL defenses will be more able to execute complex containment schemes. They'll be better at tackling him in the open field. But it's not like he's strictly a runner. He threw for 3700 yds and has shown the ability to drop dimes when needed. And he's only getting better.

Manziel, as ultimately played out in the NFL, was a one read QB, and that's part of the reason why the offense relied far too much on screens for a team with the talent they had.
@pseudonym364011 років тому
Fair point, but Manziel is a much different player than Tebow. He has better mechanics and accuracy despite only being a freshman. That said, Manziel will need to work on his pocket passing and just gain experience as a QB before he enters the NFL. Regardless, Manziel is an outstanding down the line prospect for the NFL.
@pseudonym364011 років тому
To with in on the Manziel vs. Mariota debate, I find it very difficult to compare the two, as they are both very different players who are asked to do different things on offense. Manziel is asked to do much more through the air than Mariota and is probably a more dangerous scrambler as well, but Mariota is more consistent, less mistake-prone, and can throw with better touch. I would say right now each of them is best for their respective teams.
@harlemkiid14910 років тому
accuracy is key for manziel,he looks pretty accurate but he played 3 elite SEC teams last year and he went 1-2 just depends who drafts him,I mean if he were to get drafted by the Jags or Browns he would get wacked bcuz he has no weapons on the outside and he would be live bait but say he got drafted by a middle of the road team who trades up to get him like the Titans with Cj2k and those young speedy receivers on the outside Manziel I think would thrive in an offense like that

From what I just saw Alabama sacked him at least 5 or 6 times, stopped him on fourth down at least twice, and completely ran through A & Ms offensive line like a knife through hot butter. he should make pre-snap reads. I know Bama has a great defense, yet to be a qb on the next level you should be able to recognize most of their defensive coverage. He doesn't, thank god for his amazing playmaking ability, but he should keep his eyes more downfield and less scrambling the split second he sees a tight hole to run for half a yard
