Am I the only one that respects the fact that in “close to me” you can touch the cube buddy and not get hurt when it’s blue

I absolutely adore barracuda because he just shows up and fights us for no reason whatsoever but manages to somehow have the best track and the best gameplay out of any boss

I like the idea that a simple evil circle can literally turn into a demonic octagon thing that eats the player

I've never been more emotional over a few shapes in my life

The Pyramid in Barracuda just went - Shows up out of nowhere for a single miniboss fight - Delivers one of the best tracks in the game. - Refuses to elaborate. - Dies

Barracuda, one of the random bosses that show up out of nowhere and is my favourite out of all

Honestly shapes and beats is the ultimate show that complexity does not equal quality. It has a vague storyline with no dialogue, mostly basic 2D shapes with little different color and 0 depth, and the gameplay is, on paper, incredibly simple. Direction keys to move, then you can dash, getting hit by different color thing bad. Yet it manages to be absolutely amazing and grab the hearts of many.

It's terrifying how the main antagonist creates new life, just for it to serve them, like at the 2nd to last song it creates centipedes that burst through their body just to attack the player

years later and i still love how the antagonist gets on absolute drugs after eating Doritos

In "it's *NOT* over", did you notice that, in the body slam part, the part repeated 4 times? It's really cool how they cut the music in the correct place so, if you don't kill the boss in the first repeat of the beat, nor the second, the part and the music repeats on and on _until it's over_

I like how you put spider dance in its "cannon" location on the timeline. Very nice touch :)

Man, I miss the good old days back when this game was popular. All the oc’s, the animation memes, the level concepts, hell even the character designs were cool.

I love how spider dance is before new game considering the fact that in the lore, it’s the 2nd boss

All bosses reasons to attack you: Long live the new fresh: he's mean and see's you as an enemy New game: you killed him and he wants revenge...and the triangles Barracuda: yes Licatrophy: he has become evil and his first target is you Close to me: your friend has been corrupted and he fights you even tough he doesn't want to, and you cure him Final boss: he wants to trick you into thinking you've won Anihilation: the plan doesn't go as intended and he tries to destroy you once and for all I cant say anything about the last song cuz i didn't see it and i don't want spoilers

The lycantrophy got some moves 💀 Also when the cube died and the grandfather was crying, i fell that 😢

Can we just talk about how in Close To Me most of the attack patterns actually make you get close to the cube?

I don't think they try to make the lvls hard they try to make them fun and interesting, that's one thing I love about just shapes and beats!

I love the fact a game about just shapes and beats can manage to make me cry everytime because of its storyline, music and characters. Definitely a game that will always hold a special place in my heart!

My ranking: #9: New Game. Just not quite as good as the others and isn't spaced out very well. Music slaps, but not as much as the others. #8: Close to Me. Kind of repetitive, and can be a bit annoying because of that. #7: La Danse Macabre. From this point, there's not really any huge problems I have. It's simple, but fun. #6: Lycanthropy. Pretty good, and a nice close to the Volcano. #5: Spider Dance. As a major fan of Undertale, I love the inclusion of one of the best tracks. I like the original music a bit more, but the remix fits the game more. #4: Final Boss. Not too difficult for it's spot in the game, but makes up for it by being really exciting and engaging. #3: Long Live the New Fresh. I LOVE this boss, but I docked some points because, despite not going in blind, I can tell for blind players, it's a MASSIVE difficulty spike. #2: Barracuda. It's just dumb fun that doesn't relate to the plot. It doesn't need to exist, but it does, and I think the Dorito knows it don't need to be there but decides to anyway. #1: ANNIHILATE/TILL IT'S OVER. Do I need to say anything else?

Can we just acknowledge a few things. 1. The triangle boss looks like Blil Cipher, and he probably could do something like this. 2. The final boss just put the square in a situation where it was forced to commit suicide. Also the boss just kept hitting the square as if saying “And STAY DOWN!!!” 3. The animation goes so well with the music and it’s all so smooth! 4. This is me personally but I imagined some characters as the bosses. 5. This is an amazing game🎉!!

The fact that new game takes form of super Mario, a peashooter, and Pac-Man, its the fact that its so nostalgic from the day those games came to be.

This game brings back so many memories and has been a huge part of my life

i remember watching my older brother play this when i was 4 years old. And i respect the fact how its called "close to me" and me and my brother was so close to each other. And now, he does not like me anymore..

This game is powerful in every way, a continuation would not hurt and if it does not come true, then at least continue adding bosses because they are what stands out most in this masterpiece, good video!! ^^

I'm still proud of how i completted that game, and how long i didn't give up.

Can we just say how clean every part of this is

if I had a nickel for every time a game had the main villain gain ultimate power after beating the supposed “final” boss and become a huge monster taking up a huge chunk of the screen with imposing and threatening music and then some characters come and then save you from death through some means and then you fight the boss head on now being able to effectively fight back until the enemy is desperate to beat you but fails for you to eventually win and it was a masterpiece, I’d have two nickels, which unsurprisingly isn’t a lot, but it’s weird and epic that it happened twice

I love how he still didn’t get hit in the last boss fight even though you can’t die in that one at least I haven’t died in it and I’ve always took a a lot of hits during that one

That cube was actually lucky to be a hero of the village (which is the cube in Close to me) you can actually see it in Just Shapes and Beats Episodes (idk if it still exists)that he was picked to be the hero of the village and he sealed the first boss which is Long Live The New Fresh! Boss and he forgot to seal the bottom so that's when the pink corruption started. He actually got infected and he abled to resist it because he came to the other hero's by using the small cube's form and they were able to help him defeat the pink corruption and try to help him remove the corruption in him.
