My favorite tape for working on guitar repairs, because the glue does not leave residue, it won't tear up the old paint on the instrument, and as you said, because you can apply heat to it, is good for some very minor wood bending, and specially for liftling up a bridge.

I'm impressed both with the tape & the adhesive compound. I'm a sculptor & artist. I have the damndest bits of steel, aluminum wire & plastic to assemble for armatures to fit inside polymer & ceramic clay for sculptures. If this can held hold the armature together (better than wire & engine epoxy) just long enough to prevent cavities forming inside polymer sculptures, it would be golden. Most of the time I have to painstakingly dissect the figure I just spent upwards of 30 hours on, then reassemble it with an empty gap inside (with airholes I can patch later). If things are just a little too plastic during the beginning of baking, it'll collapse into the empty core. (It can be fixed, but it's still more work.) It only has to take 110-130°C temps for a half hour - a whole hour at a time (repeat low temp baking prevents cracking/burning).

Kapton is a type of performance polymer called polyimide. It's meant to be stable at high temperatures-up to like 400C. You would be fine in using this tape for the temp ranges you mentioned. It is expensive though so it's up to you to buy it
@_ninthRing_
@_ninthRing_ 2 роки тому
@@earthpcCHClS Thanks for that. I'll investigate it in more detail, but I suspect if it's _That_ expensive, I'll probably find cheaper, alternatives for my specific needs. Ultimately, though, it depends on the wishes (& budget) of the client commissioning the artwork.

To be sure, "Kapton" is the trade-name for *polyimide* (with an "i") - not *polyamide* (with an "a"). These are two very different materials. A secondary reason that they survive high temperatures where other tapes fail is the silicone adhesive that they are equipped with (volumetrically, even more than the polyimide film, usually).

@tafellappen8551
@tafellappen8551 2 роки тому
@@shersockholmes6261 idk what other printing facilities use, or what kapton tape youre thinking of (or what you mean by pull it out) but the adhesive on what we were stuck with was no better than plain old scotch tape, maybe even worse. Also i should correct myself and say it was the paper we had to pull tight by using the tape to make sure it was as snug as possible with the mug all the way around. The damn mugs werent the same diameter for the whole height. So the paper wouldnt sit flat against it unless you really forced it. And if it didnt sit flat, it would come out blurry and couldnt be sold. Super hard to explain without a visual but basically you put the paper around the mug with the space at the handle and put the tape on one side of the paper, feed it under the handle, then hold the other side of the paper in place and grip the tail of the tape for leverage to pull the paper as tight as humanly possible as you finally place the tail of the tape down on the opposite end of the paper. Each godforsaken misshapen mug needed 3 pieces of tape and they all needed to be tight. You try basically pushing your entire thumb flesh in one direction for an entire day and you’ll see why it was the most hated job in the whole place. Thats not to mention all the other soreness it brought
