Why people would say the last airbender movie is better than this show is something I will never fathom

This Katara is different, but her character development still makes sense. The OG Katara was always feisty, intimidating, and confident right from the start. This New Katara went from being reserved, to more confident. She is still observant; just like how she learned the ice discs. And then also became feisty and intimidating. "You found a master, haven't you?" "Yes. You're looking at her"

Kiawentiio was stiff at some scenes but you can tell (as she said herself too) that she tried to show how Katara's confidence grew in only 8 episodes and she did a great job! ❤

Katara here was more reserved and observant, character development was made as she gradually developed her skills and improved her character as she keeps learning new things. I love the actress and I hope she would improve her portrayal in the later seasons.

I thought her acting was stiff and awkward at first but realised in a way her version of katara makes sense when you consider her coming from a small secluded tribe, traumatised by mother’s death and forced to hide her bending overall i enjoyed the show and loved how they portrayed their characters so 🎉🎉🎉🎉

I think that this was the best adaptation we could have asked for. It is different than the original Nickelodeon series, but I think it is amazing. I can't wait to see Katara and Toph interacting together.

I legitimately don't understand the criticism towards this actress. I liked the main actors quite a bit! I'm looking forward to seeing how they grow in the next season.

Tears... thank you for your Tribute o the Katara spirit. In the animation she went lookinng for her mother, her mother was taken away... this is what turned her into a blood bender then she went with Zuko to find her mother and the man took her. Will be intersting to see how they resolve this.

In the end, Katara was not always bold and feisty which Netflix showed loud and clear. When Zuko invaded their village, she definitely felt helpless and was fairly surprised that she stopped his attack as she and Sokka were saving Aang. When Katara prepared to face Zuko on Kyoshi Island, she was clearly nervous and was terrified when the prince cornered her and was going to finish her off. When they reached the Northern Water Tribe, Katara decided to challenge Pakku and the sexist ways by dueling him. Unlike what Nickelodeon produced, this was calculated with Katara wanting to solely prove a point and she still knew she was no match for him. Afterwards, she got through to him by pointing out what was at stake if he would not relent on his pride to allow the women to help out. The confidence she had facing Zuko once again was amazing and it was with them being equals.

Here’s my take: the actress is actually pretty good at acting. Close your eyes at that final speech she gives Aang in episode 8, and she sounds emotional, it’s conveyed well. The only problem is that her facial expressions don’t really match that emotion she is conveying, she just seems to be looking up. She can act, but I personally think if she’s worked on her facial expressions a bit she would be 100% Katara

Why did they skimp out on some blue contacts... Its such a cheap and easy way to make both Katara and Sokka look closer to the original characters.

Showing kataras mother dying earlier in the show is hitting similar to showing ozais appearance so early. They made it work for them very well, still getting used to it but I feel the payoff will be worth it

Pakku won't even teach her even if she's clearly the best student he will ever have. The only reason why he agreed on teaching her was because Katara is the granddaughter of his first love. He did not teach Katara because he realized that women are good at combative waterbending too. He taught her out of his bias. Which is kind of disrespectful to Katara's skill and character. The live action decision not to make Master Pakku teach Katara, and and to forego the Gran Gran love story works because it legitimizes Katara's women empowerment story arc. Because in the end, Pakku realizes that the army the Northern Water Tribe has is clearly not enough in holding off the fire nation's attack. And by lowering his ego acknowledging that men need help as well, and the women are more than capable to fight is the best thing they could ever done with their character.

Still prefer Animated Katar over this one.. especially in the fights. She was more aggressive towards zuko in their fight in the animated. In the Netflix, I felt like she was just there....

For me this Katara is better because she is not Aang's mum any more. She is her own individual and shows more of her personality. Even though i love the original Katara her whole existence was around Aang. That is why she seems different here. Because they took out Kataang. Her overprotection and being Aang's love interest were what defined her the most in the cartoon, besides her caring of other people and her will to become better as a water bender.

This actress is so flat. During every battle her face remains in the exact same expression while everyone around her is putting their all into it. The way she delivers her lines also just seems like she’s reading off a script. Development or not, her acting leaves a lot to be desired and it surprises me considering all the other actors they got are almost perfect replicas of the animated characters…idk what happened with this one.

for me, so far, this adaptation is a hit compared to GOD AWFUL Last Airbender as does follow many ATLA Lore but u cant stretch the char dev and story in a movie or few episodes. You have to show compassion and love from animation to adaptation which IS POSSIBLE, heck many fan project shows this as true. I hope for future more passion is put into Live Action in general especially in US as many countries in use animation as medium and expression that LA cant do with limits. But I hope passion and care put more into this and more adaptations

It is not even impossible to blend water, earth ,air and fire, there are people who can do this, but these people are not presenting to the world in these days, but Buddha's timeline, Jesus timeline, yes, there was. But after science subjects revealed to this world, these supernatural abilities are faded away while Buddha's teachings faded from this world. But in future Maithree Buddha's Kingdom, these abilities will appear.

They really took a complex, dynamic, integral character who drives the story and really struggles to develop into an incredible warrior and leader…and turned her into a shy, timid, character who is always following others, needs her brother and friends to approve of everything and who does nothing to earn her bending prowess and makes such little impact on the story so far. I’m so disappointed, Katara is my favourite in the og show and they did her so dirty
