#3 You have V-brakes on your bike, which mean you can't use the brake with those strips on.

The zip ties for snow grip are great and all, but if you don't have a disc brake, your brakes won't work on that wheel...beware if you want to use this trick!

Should be noted that you cant use the zip tie one without having disk brakes, especially consodering this bike had rim brakes that wouldnt have worked with all the zip ties in the way

+Cakeless Coder Even though the stress on the spokes, the zip ties will cause the brakes to lock up almost as if he was using the pedal brakes. Also, maybe he just put them there on the front for steering traction and left them off for the back to use the brakes back there.

Compilation Kingdom I luckily do have disk brakes but that's because it's a mountain bike and has grippy tyres anyway. But for most other people it's a flawed idea

I guess you haven't tried the zip ties on snow/ice. They break easily and they provide next to no sideways traction.

The ziptie one is also useless because what if you have to remove a tube or you have a puncture you have to cut like 20 30 zipties to get the tubing out

when using the toothbrush to clean your chain, lift your back wheel and turn your pedals so that you don't have to wiggle the toothbrush up and down. Goes alot quicker too.

you have shown the zip ties on the wrong tire, shouldn't it be on the one having traction (i.e. rear)?

knight rider you steer with the front wheel, that's why on mountain bikes you often have a more aggressive tyre on the front because les weight is on it so you need to compensate by having more grip

Henry MTB well by that logic, you would put chains on rear wheels on a front wheel car, because less weight is on it, but you still put them on front because they are where they are needed, no?

I live near the beach and I use Chain-Saver Wax-Based Chain Lube. It's normally used on motorcycles but works great on bicycles. I attract no dirt. I have not cleaned my chain in over a year and it's still clean.

Well, it doesn't matter if you get good traction when you put zip ties on your wheels, your brakes will be unusable if you do it, unless you have disc brakes.

That wouldn't work. Locking the chain to the chain guard prevents the back wheel from spinning. To move the bike, you'd have to awkwardly balance the bike on the front wheel while keep the back wheel off the ground.

Of course you could easily remove the chain from the back wheel, allowing it to spin freely.

Sure, but that would be really conspicuous. At any rate, locking the bike to an attached structure is obviously the best option.

with life hack 3 you can't even use your front brake anymore and while its snowy outside and you HAVE to brake you can't cuz the zipties are in the way, only if he had disk brakes it could have worked
