I think the meaning of the song is that JJ is like addicted to the progression and working on like all the things he have going on. Which takes up almost all of his time; and this cause his personal relationship to suffer and eventually break apart. So like he is torn between the happiness that his career brings and the happiness that his past relationship brought him. trying to have it all but can't.

Feels like one of the first songs JJ has sat down and just wrote about his feelings and expressed them through music it's great.
