Qi(chi) is the essence of life force, shared through the universe between all things, living or not. In this case, the more he took from others, the less he was connected to the world around him. As is shown on Po, other's could share their strength and chi with him to make him stronger, and because they are connected to others whom can make them stronger, they too can make Po stronger... so on and so forth. Because Kai took the chi away from others, they could no longer share their chi that could be infinitely gathered from the universe with him. He was stuck on limited supply with no connections, losing more and more connections each time he forcibly took from others. - Thus, the more he took, the less he had.

Shen is more powerful than Kai

I think the 1st was a masterpiece, but even the 2nd was meh. He was never shown to be traumatized in the 1st movie. He knew he was adopted, and he kind of wanted to know about his past, but not that much. It basically didn't come up, except for when his dad was about to tell him the secret recipe, and he was momentarily hopeful to hear about his adoption. Plus all he did to overcome his trauma in the 2nd movie was hear about his past from the goat lady. Then he was immediately ready to fight Shen. The 1st movie was great, and the rest is ok, but they're just milking the franchise due to the success of the 1st one.

​@@mstar7520 While you may not like the 2nd movie very much still, I’d like to give more of an explanation to some of your critiques. 1. Po wasn’t shown to be traumatized in the first movie because he repressed those memories due to the trauma. 2. Po didn’t care to learn about his past because he never thought about it, or he probably thought it didn’t matter. It was only when he remembered his mother from Shen’s symbol that his curiosity sparked. 3. Getting closure about your past after repressing it for so long would be enough to overcome trauma in a movie like this. The adrenaline of everything clicking at once, realising that Shen was the cause of it all, and finally achieving inner peace would be enough to motivate Po to fight him. This is what I think, anyway. Sorry for the long read.

@@mstar7520 Nah I would say that Kung Fu pand 2 is better in every way. I think that Po was shown to be traumatized a lot he even said to Shifu that when he is sad he eats. Furthemore Wolfs were in his dream of opening scene which can be shown to be product of his repressed memory. And he even says he does not feel his son. He says sometimes I think I am not even your son so clearly he was repressing or not admitting knowing that he was adopted. Secret recipt was gret set up. And Shen is simply better villain than Tai Lung because he is Po´s villain Tai Lung is Shifu´s villain. They barely know each other. Tai Lung Who are you hits really close to home and while their battle was great it was two strangers battling each other with zero emotion and connection. And I like Shens ending better. Tai Lung death was too comedy like (hell some people even saying as criticism that tone wise its kinda jarring to go from emotional face off between Shifu and Tai Lung to that complet Looney Toones that its Po vs Tai Lung) Meanwhile Shens death is only which is serious one. Po is not trying to kill him and Shen is refusing to back down because too late. Whole movie spents running from his destiny only in last moments accepting his destiny/death. Furthemore Shen had biggest screentime out of all three villains and his scenes with Soothsayer gave him most complexity. I also think that music like Zen Ball Master or every theme related to Shen is better than first one.
