Tai Lung did not Obey his master, which is his own fault; but in turn, his master did not provide him the guidance he needed in his most emotionally broken moment. Shifu _attempted_ to apologize for this later, but by then Tai Lung had been embittered for half of his life and was no longer willing to forgive. Mistakes were made on both sides; but Ultimately, Tai Lung had a choice and he chose poorly (both back at the palace when Oogway spurned him, and at the prison when he had the freedom to go anywhere and do anything with his life.)

And most of the damage Tai Lung takes in this battle is sheer dumb luck.

Some of it was because he is destined to defeat him as the dragon warrior, but some of it was genuinely skill, effort, and learning he put in The thing with the tree was him applying his past experiences to his battle (he remembered what happened before and used it against Lung) the stair thing was luck (Tai lung just HAPPENED) to land on the bottom every time) and the part at the end where he out-punches Kai and uses the wuxi finger hold on him was skill (he learned a lot from Shifu, and he also did learning on his own time) Po is not just “luck;” he really does have a passion for kung fu and put in a lot of time and study to become good at it once Shifu helped him learn the basics and get in shape

@@hobomike6935 I’ll add on one of my favorite tidbits. Po is defensive, tactical, and unconventional, while Tai Lung is skilled and immensely strong. However, Tai Lungs skills can’t keep up with Po just being Po, using everything he can find to his advantage- using the pots like Shifu did the bowls and using the fireworks and tree like he did while trying to get into the dragon warrior announcement ceremony. Tai Lungs special techniques made to counter or disable other fighters were made specifically for warriors like Tigress and Monkey, but Po’s unique size stopped that from working. And finally, Po is a master at countering. We see Po quickly take advantage of Tai Lung’s exposed foot, take advantage of his hanging tail, and take more and more advantage of his increasingly blind rage. It truly was fated that Po would defeat Tai Lung, because he was the only one who could counter Tai Lung’s deadly abilities

@@flameblade3 exactly and it’s not plot armor. That’s what people failed to understand, it’s pretty clear what’s sets po apart from the five when it comes to fighting tai lung.

@flameblade 3 ye I think po was the first opponent that tai lung fought that was the same strength as him and tai lung wasn't trained to fight a style that po had created with is panda style. Not only does he fight with his feet and fist but also uses his fat which is something tai lung struggled with in their fight

@@snipermonkey3428 I’ll give kai credit cause that was all on him in the spirit realm but the second villains defeat wasn’t from his own strength but it came from PO dodging all of the cannon balls and using them to destroy all the cannons. And the guy died from falling debris caused by the explosives.

Most, if not all, people would've taken the line as Tai-Lung realizing that the scroll is empty of writing or mystical power, only containing a thin layer of reflective metal. However, your perception of that line is interesting since that could fit in with the cat's personality so well. He spent his entire life trying to be the Dragon Warrior only to go on a rampage and end up rotting for 20 years in prison following a fight with his adoptive father. Without aiming to be the Dragon Warrior, what was he? He had nothing after that. Prison didn't help either. In fact, it only compounded his self-loathing and made him so much more desperate for the Scroll. Of course he wouldn't believe that he was good enough after those 20 years. Of course he would see only nothing in himself if what he thought would make him whole was something external.

I think this was covered by someone else once before. Po's fighting style was a direct counter to how Tai Lung fought. Which is why he was able to thread the needle.

Weight class matters

Well, Po was kinda studying ALL FIVE fighting styles through his life as being overly-obsessed fan-boy. Dragon warrior is exactly this - the master of all five fighting styles. Being immune to immobilization attacks also helps. I just love how this feature of Po's body was ignored by his fellows.

Yeah, like, Tai Lung had absolutely already lost. He'd basically given up, and he got dusted with no hesitation. Even if not outright redemption, I don't think Po needed to go far enough to kill the guy.

The rare occurrence in a movie where the main character doesn't show mercy to the opponent. Usually it's the other way around where they spare the enemy only for them to backstab them moments after.

Well he kinda gave him a chance, he explained the secret and genuinely wanted to help him, but when that didn’t work Po was like “And your done”

It would have been alot better without it, it doesn't make sense after we saw many serious battles and badassery of Tai Lung... It's hard to explain but then in the final battle it's just so out of the place with those sound effects

That's a logical comparison but I think the point of this fight is likely to show the audience that you can master a martial art for your whole life, and be considered one of the greatest fighter's with respect to that art. That being said, in a real fight against a complete stranger, anything goes. We see Po using the terrain and surroundings to do most of the fighting. You can also say that Tai Lung was a bit unlucky to have encountered such items and such terrain where Po is at his best. This shows that in a real fight no matter how skilled you are, anything can happen. We saw Tai Lung practicing Kung Fu for Shifu for his whole life, however no amount of training or talent or fitness could have prepared him for such a scenario. Anything can happen in a fight, which is why a real fight with no rules is unpredictable.

You are missing the point completely, this is a movie about martial arts where a Panda who isn't even serious or in form defeats a trained martial artist without doing anything, Tai Lung was an absolute joke
