It was my summer between high school and college and I was painting houses. I was up on a ladder with my old transistor radio hanging from the ladder and I listened to the Watergate Hearings for weeks. I was captivated by those hearings. I remember it like it was today when I heard of the recordings. I nearly fell off that ladder. When I arrived at my college at the end of the summer.. away from my controlling parents, I changed all my classes from Business to Political Science. The FBI probably received help from NARA. NARA's responsibiltuy is to catalog presidential papers and everything was logged in the WH. So NARA would know what was missing once they finished conducting their inventory when they received all the boxes of presidential papers that was delivered by the GSA.
