While I have a telecoil and always have had, the Roger devices do a wonderful job doing the same thing. Except of course then you have battery life in the Roger device to worry about. A neckloop obviously doesn't use its own battery for EM signal generation. Either is great when traveling. If you're the tour group type, many guides give tourists receivers and headphones. Many museums have audioguide systems. Neckloops or a Roger On devices can plug right into their audio jacks in either scenario. For movie theaters, to my knowledge AMC doesn't provide audio receivers. They use the buggy cupholder caption devices instead. Can't speak to other chains, but I would much prefer the option of an audio input via Roger or neckloop!

Topic I don't think I have ever seen you ever cover. What about going to concerts where you know it will be very loud either in a big concert hall or a small club? Do you wear your hearing aids but turned off? Do those specialized concert ear plugs that get advertised any good? Do you just resign yourself to some very tight fettling ear plugs? Some of us still LOVE music clubs and concerts and don't want to lose any more hearing, if possible. Thanks for any info.

I made sure when selecting hearing aids that there was a telecoil option installed and active in my devices. I do have a couple of neck loops but have not had the opportunity to try them out. The only time i had the opportunity to try a set up as the one in this video was before I had hearing aids and was using the provided headphones. It will be interesting to try this option if the opportunity presents itself.

Interesting! A couple of questions- I have 2 students with cochlear implants (one AB and one Cochlear brand) and we were trying to figure out how to use a loop system. Could there be a telecoil option for that? Also, I assume this might be an option for in ear monitors? One of our drummers at church uses hearing aids, and we don't have Bluetooth capability with our IEM system. Any ideas?

Hi Dr. Cliff, Do you know if the neck worn amplifier in a “Pocket Talker” work? Thanks!

Is there a way to plug in the Roger On headset plug in cord that came with my Roger device? I can use it on an airplane screen instead of a headset but can it plug int the Movie Theatre receiver box?

Hi Dr Cliff, I have phonak audeo P90RT, there is 1 meeting room at work(provided with t-coil signal) when I activate my t-coil, my hearing aids keep whistling, while it doesn't do the same in another meeting room and works well. I wonder why?

Will there be a firmware update for LE audio on the Oticon real 1 or is it not possible with a firmware update?

Thanks for that but could you not do similar with a resound multimic by plugging that into the theater's kit using a 3.5mm jack into the multimic and enjoy the sound even without telecoil?
@aztravelguy
@aztravelguy 17 днів тому
Would work. Similar to connecting a Phonak Roger device. The difference is both the Roger and Multi Mic are a lot more expensive than a simple neckloop. Roger and Multi Mic do a lot more than what a telecoil neckloop can do, but a neckloop does its job very well and is affordable for most users if their hearing aids have telecoils in them. Older hearing aids don't have built-in connectivity to Roger, Multi Mic, or similar technology, but many have telecoils since that's nearly 90 year old technology.

Yes you could do that too! Any workaround you can come up with is always a good idea!

i can’t wait for Mc Donald’s restaurant tvs to be connected to auracast transmitters. most of the time the sound volume is turned down low as to be inaudible (probably in the interest of keeping the sound environment quiet). with a pair of latest enabled headphones/earpods, one could enjoy the full sound experience on demand. Q is when will cheap auracast xmitters become readily avail?

If I get the Oticon with LE Audio, would the neck loop work with it? If not, isn’t it better to stick with a telecoil for the near future?
@DrCliffAuD
@DrCliffAuD 17 днів тому
The good news is, the Oticon Intent has both LE Audio and Telecoil so you don't have to pick.

Newbie question: I don’t have hearing aids yet, but I have a documented moderate loss. Why not just use your hearing aids to pick up the sound everyone else is hearing?

@@meric12131415 Why not just listen to the sound in the theater? Is there a problem with that?

@@Graygeezer ohhhhhh like a regular movie goer you technically can but for some people a loop system is better like it's not exactly a requirement to have someone with hearing loss tap into a loop system in a theatre but some people like it better for example if you have a more severe hearing loss I'd help alot

A few months ago, we went to the theatre and I was given a telecoil device to wear around my neck. Unfortunately the device was defective so I couldn’t use it for the first half of the show. We were watching Hamilton and I honestly had no idea what was going on. Just listening to everything with my hearing aids I could not distinguish the words of the songs and the things the actors were saying half the time. It was buried in the noise of the music and everything else going on. At intermission, I got a replacement unit and used it for the rest of the show. The night and day. I went from not knowing what anything was to having almost 100% comprehension. After the show, I spoke with my family about my experience and they told me that they had a lot of trouble understanding what was going on! Essentially the telecoil gave me Super hearing!

If you have the 7IX T, then you can use a telecoil neck loop. You just have to wait for the upgrade if you want to use Auracast!

Funny...have had telecoil in all my hearing aids, activated by audiologist, BUT never used it bcs never have been in places using telecoil technology. Kind of a waste. Places should just use bluetooth LE ... after all, this is 2024.
