@@counterfeit1148 No. At 00:58 Derren is talking about the healer (him) "... and all the healer had to do was say if he thought the girl's hand was above his left hand or his right hand". So the R and L clearly relate to the "healer's" hand (Derren's). And at 1:30, Derren says, "Now I wriggled my right hand on purpose..." and that was the hand in the hole with the R over it. So, there can be no argument that the R and L relate to Derren's Right and Left hands.

I believe what he was saying about his guesses was true for the first part, but when he got one wrong he did it on purpose. He'd memorised some facts about that one guy and knew when he would step up in the line. Still really impressive!

Hey, it’s just a THEORY, not saying it is the case. IF, I mean IF, it was entirely scripted with paid actors OR with any smart device of communication like those used to cheat in casinos, the exact same can be achieved. That’s the elephant in the room explanation - but people find ways to deny themselves of an answer.

Possible I suppose but I don't think it was the case. That system can work well with a large number of single people but soon becomes very unwieldy with a similarly large number of groups of people as he has here. The research and remembering of details on each of the people would work ... if he had a way of discovering which of the six males he was actually touching.

@@grahamyates2490 but pattern/human predictability helps tons in this particular instance, it's worlds away from the type of randomness of flipping a coin or race horse betting, so i don't think it's unmanageable. because in fact each group that gets "tested" (probably not even by derren brown at first) will accumulate data which can then be used to find which pattern is the most popular/likely when the exact same dialog is performed every single time to the participants. then derren tries the most popular pattern and repeats the same dialog with more groups until a good enough result comes out figuring out which participant is which, is fairly simple (as well as optional, since he didn't say he'd do that and therefore could just omit it if unsure). he just has to observe their hands earlier at the lobby/reception (in person or just get staff video footage) when they first turn up to fill in participant paperwork and wait for everyone to be there/ready and for the show/trick to actually start, then memory "male big hands = joe, male skinny hands = tom, male two rings = sam etc"
