Every time I see people online complaining that Paralives is taking "too long" to come out, I feel like turning into a volcano and start erupting. Life by You and Project Rene both started development around the same time (if not earlier) and yet they're not being held to the same standards as these AAA companies; they are only a small indie studio but people seem to want them to just magically produce a life simulation game out of thin air. Even Silk Song has been in production since 2019 as well. Most games take 5-10 years to be out but I still see people claiming Paralives is a scam and it pisses me off so much.

Calling Rod Humble the Genius behind Sims 2 is a HUGE jump. Rod Humble worked for EA and worked *on* Sims 2 and early Sims 3, but he was not a core developer. Lets not pretend Rod Humble is Will Wright. Actually Alex, the guy who started coding Paralives ALONE feels way more a Will Wright type then Rod Humble tbh. 😂

13:01 counter argument: i get how it sucks to have to wait for so long but had we not gotten these insights, we would never have been able to contribute our ideas and preferences to the game dev's ideas. they also would not have grown as fast on patreon, stopping them from going fom a one man team to now 11 people. i think it's unfair to give LBY this point simply bc they revealed the game later in development. even LBY doing that set back release since the early access date was delayed, as ppl had objections, so their development probably took a hit.

There is no comparison. Life By You is Second Life with a Sims UI, it's more realistic, more moddable, but with that realism you lose a lot of the wackiness of the Sims. I'll definitely try it when it's fully released, but I don't know if I'll want to play something that requires more life management customization. Paralives looks awesome, it's still cartoony and silly (there are ziplines omg), and it solves a lot of the build mode issues we want in the Sims. I really think Paralives will be more successful in the long run.

I`m PERSONALLY anticipating Paralives and InZoi much more than Life By You right now. How do I explain it,from what I`ve seen from Life by You it feels very modder friendly,like you`ll be able to code and create,the color wheel...but truth be told I was never a huge fan of Sims 3 and for me Life by You right now,feels quite outdated in terms of the interface. They`ll probably change that and I AM gonna give it a chance but both Paralives and InZoi are much higher on my list. I do love conversation choices they give you. Paralives because it is beautiful to watch a project that was started by one person flourish and look this awesome. On the other hand,in the sea of so many cartoonish looking life sims,InZoi really is like a breath of fresh air,especially considering it feels very Eastern Asia centric(developers are from S.Korea if I`m not mistaken) and I`m so here for it. It looks unbelievable to the point where I`ll buy a new PC if it turns out to be a good game.

While I love Paralives style... To me their art style reminds me of mix media journals that use watercolor and pen, LBY is more like a blurry photo... realistic and undefined. But I'm not expecting Paralives to release soon, not even in Early Access. Most of what they have shown are closer to video trailers, even the Live Mode videos are cut instead of sped-up (the one where the parafolk dies of hunger comes to mind), there is no real autonomy shown, not even in the background, so... until they have shown a real gameplay video, I'm not even considering them in the running for my next life simulation game.

The most imortant thing for me is: will my computer be able to run it? And this is a huge no for life by you. No matter how polished, beautoful, fun, filled with entertainment it is, no way i will be able to enjoy it. Paralives, on the other hand, started with the ambition that it would be able to run in most devices, and i can definetly see it not destroying my computer in the futurw

I think many Sims 4 players will be drawn to Paralives, and many former Sims players and people who still play Sims 3 will prefer LBY. Also, LBY seems to appeal more to guys than Paralives does. Not only do I feel that way myself, but also there are female Sims 4 players who say "My boyfriend plays strategy games and he's really into LBY". So I think LBY at least will expand the player base. And I would not be surprised if Paralives also will appeal to some people who like the idea of living in a beautiful painting. We've never had anything like that, sorry Sims 4.

These two games should totally get together and make a SUPER GAME!! They both have what the other doesn't - Paralives is sooo beautiful, but they have only just gotten around to creating the actual gameplay. LBY is not very pretty, but the gameplay is superior to anything else out there and the depth of the game is possibly better than The Sims 3, which says a lot.

I love the Paralives aesthetic, but like you, I'd really like to see some game play features. LBY clearly has the gameplay features and relatively user-friendly modding capability, but the animations are still a bit cringy at this point. The Paralives characters seem alive and full of personality based on their animations, while the LBY characters seem like zombies but clearly have the capability to be well fleshed out personality-wise. I can't wait for both of these games to be released so I can get the full picture of what these games can do. I keep telling myself that gameplay is the most important part for me, but I heartily agree that the current level of animations in LBY are immersion-breaking. However, when I get early access, I will definitely be giving them some grace in this area because of all the other complex elements they are providing.

I truly loved this video! I wish there was a world where Life By You could look/animate as beautiful as Paralives - And Paralives could deliver the groundbreaking gameplay features that LBY is showcasing. I’d literally just funnel money into both games at that point. It’s so rare when development companies deliver on both. But I’m hopeful.

Paralives looks to me like indie the sims 4 and i never really liked sims 4 compared to sims 2, 1 and even 3. Life by You on the other hand really caught my eye

I too have been anticipating Paralives for years but I am not gonna lie, when LBY came along with it's direct control mode, more mature tone, more detailed visuals, a huge chunk of gameplay and modding systems ready to go as soon as early access launches and of course Mr. Rod Humble, it kind of took all my attention. I still am going to try out both games and appreciate the things they have to offer, but I can't deny that LBY is just resonating with me a lot more than Paralives is right now as a massive fan of the first 3 Sims games. I kind of feel bad about it too because up until LBY came along I was super hyped for Paralives and was watching every single update as soon as it came out... Now it's just kind of in the back of my mind as a thing I'll get to when it comes out while LBY is getting all my attention :P

FYI: Life By You did not come out of nowhere. Some type of announcement came out of Paradox AROUND A DECADE ago that they were looking into or considering making a life simulation game, and that was about six months after they hired Rod Humble. This was not that long after The Sims 4 came out and enraged many longtime Sims 3 players similar to myself. Paralives looks like it will be enjoyable, but it does not have the same amount of people as LBY, and more importantly it is likely that LBY started development a year or two before Paralives. LBY has experienced people with longtime experience in this game genre (not just Rod), and they all have new ideas on how to do and implement it better. The most important thing is these creative people do not have any of the restrictions that Maxis, EA, or The Sims franchise placed on them. When I heard the Paradox initial announcement, I became like Inspector Girard looking for Richard Kimble (The Fugitive movie reference). And Life By You is my Richard Kimble. These developers had a complete media blackout, I tell you, for years there was not even a whiff about, and I was doing intensive Internet searches at least every three months. I was beginning to think that the original message I read, was actually some weird fart that materialized into a dream about a much better game than The Sims 4. Paradox are masters of media blackouts, probably helps that they are headquartered in Europe. Then I think it was last year either late May or early June they dropped the Life By You trailer, I screamed out loud--I FOUND KIMBLE!! LBY did not just magically appear out of nowhere, they have working on this a long time. ZERO NEWS SNIPETS UNTIL THE TRAILER. It is very possible my timeline is off, but am very certain that it was started long before Paralives, the main difference in information is the Paralives was much more public with their development. With the difference in staff size between Paralives and Life By You is considerable. LBY does not have a huge staff, it is not Maxis, but it is likely they have at least three or four times the staff. Also factor in the LBY people are much more experienced at this type of thing. The amount of total man hours worked on the two projects is likely to favor LBY by around 15 times. I apologize if my comment was kind of salty. I like your channel, I think you are a very nice and decent person and 100% happy to claim as a very informative fellow Simmer. When I wanna be benevolent to Paralives, I'd say, since they did the whole development process backwards (creating graphics before gameplay, and finalizing what features the game will have *last* instead of *first*), it's actually no wonder why the development takes so extremely long (I'd guess around 8-10 years until full release)

EA has been more cash grabby than anything else since Sims 4, unfortunately. The way they have been conducting their`business` is more like ruthless towards their customers, to put it mildly. So glad Roy Humble is using his expertise and skills for a very decent project, which looks very promising! The way Life By You team approaches their customers and actually consider what they have to say, is really great. Actually, not great, but more like it should be. Paralivces looks very promising too. EA is getting what they have been deserving for too long now; Serious Competition!!

[: I know I want to invest time into both games once they're available, but the extreme detailed customization of overall game structure in Life By You would be a great healthy outlet for my OCD, control, and perfectionist qualities - on top of allowing me to world-build in a way unlike any other life simulation game. I prefer the look of ParaLives, hands down, but I'll only have a better developed opinion once I understand the gameplay better. Now I just have to get on building a functional PC so I can run Life By You in the first place! xD

both games offer different things, to different fans. and I like it, the more life simulator games the better it be for us fans. both look great in what you can do in them and I can't wait for both games to come out as full games

I love both but I prefer LBY cause the graphics look better and LBY has hotels and cars from the start and you can make any unplayable townie playable without cheating. I do realize that paralives also has cars but we don't know how they will work also life by you just got delayed again till June 4th. In November or December we also have Enzoi coming out.

I do like the look of Paralives and have for some time. I like building and building environments so the build features really attract me. Not quite so sure about the Paras but I think it's going to be a definite buy for me if they manage to launch it. What I would say about Life By You is it's made me curious about it - actually a good sign for them - though I'm not yet 100% convinced

Paralives is made for people who play on older PC's. LBY Is made for high end PC's. Also LBY is an adult rather then teens. LBY has beer in the game.
