Weight is a huge difference. look at any other "professional sport" where equipment comes into play, light bows compound bows and arrows of carbon for archery, Carbon lightweight car parts for racing, For accuracy shooting in rifle marksmanship, lighter parts are a massive plus. The same thing can be attributed to mouse movements and muscle memory in your arm and shoulder. It may be micro amounts, but consider this, 100 tiny movements with 150gram mouse vs 100 tiny movements or flicks/corrections whatever you want to call them with a 50 gram mouse... Think about the total amount of force and "work" needed to move each. clearly the lighter mouse has an advantage. You must also consider the force needed to initially move the mouse, to break that friction and get it to move, the mouse feet is a big part, but also the weight. Now, the weight/Force/work needed to Stop that same mouse regardless of weight, when you have it in a near full force swing across the mousepad, Again the lightest mouse has the clear advantage. Might it be nano seconds, and micro amounts of force, sure. It all adds up over a 12 hour gaming session. and yes, if someone put a G Pro X with a weight put in it and one that was my normal mouse with a blindfold and all that Id instantly be able to tell you what one is heavier. Down to within a couple grams id wager before id have trouble deciding.

Next they've got a microcenter sponsorship, set up a basic home/work pc (5ish year vintage CPU, onboard graphics or a basic GPU and moderate ram) Vs flashy rgb gamer rig with modern kit and have some people compare a few games, browser tabs, streaming etc. but hide the cables and see if average customers can tell a big performance difference , maybe say it's the expensive pc when it's really the cheap and vice versa to see what kinda comments they make. Could also compare screens using a cardboard box to hide the bezel and main body with a cutout for the screen.

And the wooting is a huge difference in certain games like apex where some movement tech can only be actuated on a 3fps window and at 144hz+ that’s difficult to do. 5:57 Note on the wooting keyboard: it's not OPTICAL, it's a hall effect sensor. It's a subtle difference, but it's an important one. An optical keyboard can't as easily distinguished distance as a hall effect sensor can. Also, the keyboard is maybe the only thing I can recommend out of this set at about 6 minutes in and only for the practical purpose of the fact that in theory those key switches will never wear out as long as you replace the springs when they start to degrade, you can continue using that keyboard clear into the next millennium. Also, I really like the way they handled control software so there's no actual download to worry about. It's a web app and everything is stored on the keyboard

Modern USB mice actually pole at a rate that's faster than a ps/2 mouse's poling rate. The PS/2 port technically can be faster because the PS/2 port doesn't need to be polled at all to pass data meaning 0 latency, however, with a mouse specifically poling data is a necessity for it to function. So in other words the ps/2 port is faster but ps/2 mouse unfortunately can't utilize that advantage of the port that makes it faster. Crt's are still faster due to the way they're inherently designed though.

The problem with doing aim lab back and forth like that (as someone who used to work for them) is you WILL do better every consecutive round. That's what it's designed to do. So you'd probably have to keep going back and forth until you kept getting better on one system, and stopped getting better on the other. Or do 10min of warmup first on the avg system til you level out (like a stress test), and then go to the better system and see how much better you do. But even then it would still take some time for your body to adapt to the new abilities. But you can see if you plateau higher.

Keyboard advice: if you're used to a normal mechanical key's press it's going to be weird using switches that activate with so much less movement - I found the way I used to rest my hand on the keys when not typing/moving in-game would cause my k100 to register a keypress (I had made the switch from cherry reds to the k100's opx switches). It took some getting used to, but now I prefer the quick input. For anyone who wants 8k polling rate and optical-mechanical switches, but also like full-sized keyboards; the Corsair K100 has both of those feature (it uses the corsair opx optical/mechanical switches and, according to corsair specs, is capable of "Up to 8,000Hz with AXON" - there may be cheaper options, idk; I got mine from microcenter a few years ago before hipsters made 65%'s popular - I think it was right around when corsair released their 65% kb (or maybe it was Razer w/ their 60%?). 11:14 that is NOT a joke warning, by the way. Attempting to swallow any sort of powdery or granuly substances completely dry like that can, if you start coughing and retching, cause permanent damage to your throat and/or airways. If you absolutely do want to try, say, the cinnamon spoon challenge from ages ago, or something similar instead, the best way to go about it is to; hold your breath from the moment you put the spoon in your mouth, start working on producing saliva to wetten whatever you are attempting to swallow - this is where the difficulty comes into play, as things like cinnamon or powdery stuff will work very well against saliva production, and many start caughing because they underestimated the time it would take to sufficiently wetten the stuff and started taking involuntary breaths. Once you feel that your saliva has sufficiently wetten it - it should feel clumpy, - you can attempt to swallow it. If you absolutely do need to breath before swallowing, attempt to do this by closing the back of your throat while breating in and out through your nose alone, do not try to breath through your mouth, as this is what will be most dangerous.

Not relevant, but I once played a Facebook game (Pirates or something by Plarium) which was pay to play. The people who dominated the game were the people who got out their credit card and purchased all the good boats and pirates. Well I worked out if you sent an attack but quickly double clicked as you sent it, then cancelled your attack immediately, suddenly you had twice the amount of boats and pirates you had before launching the attack. It only took about 5 minutes before you had the strongest force by far and were destroying everything the people with massive credit cards had. I still have the strongest attack rating in that game until this day, I also did it in another game by Plarium, I think it was called Sparta. I got banned from those games pretty quickly, but not before I ruined the days for a few of the pay to play heros, my inbox was flooded pretty quickly by people asking how I did it. No taking damage after breaking line of sight is network lag and game state synchronization. But for the rest.. Yes and is also something that will happen a few times in the life of a competitive player ("same time shots": a few ms timespan shots). So I guess the money is still better spent on anything else. Better internet provider or even performance enhancing drugs to lower the human reaction time, which make the 95% of the latency.

@bengoacher4455
@bengoacher4455 Рік тому
Well considering human reaction times are orders of magnitude longer than the difference between setups. And the network lag is order of magnitude longer as well. Its safe to say that there is 0 impact on gaming. If you only care about the competitive edge, your setup is far less important than things like diet, focus, exercise etc. You are better off investing time and money into a good diet, meditation and mental wellbeing, and a personal trainer. All of those things will improve your reaction times and your gaming. However if you want to run drop dead gorgeous games and not sacrifice frames, then you might want to invest in a beefy setup. A lightweight installation using X11 (no compositing), Xanmod kernel, and Pipewire (tweaked to .67ms buffer latency) can provide an amazing gaming experience. Especially in the case of CSGO, where you can also benefit from a native Vulkan version of the game. It's not the simplest thing to set up if you're unfamiliar with Linux, but the end result is an extremely responsive system that's a joy to use. A comparison between Linux and Windows systems both tweaked for the lowest possible latency would make for a very interesting video.

And still, the delays of the computer system and possible human reaction times still make this an effort not worth the trouble. PCs react so much faster then any human ever could, and the extra delay they create minimal compared to human reaction times. I would rather spend the time improving your reaction time then wasting it installing a new OS, the return on invest would be far greater.

Wonder if this would work for other Vulkan games (specifically in VR) like NMS and if there's setup help out there.

@@axell964 you could set up a new OS then practice your reaction, right? You would get benefit from both actions.

any source? I doubt you can shave off anything significant when you are comparing native fullscreen games between different operating systems.

I got a 3 button foot pedal several years ago and using it to crouch open inventory and run in games and taking them off the keyboard and mouse has been amazing. Fingers have much less to do.

Invested in a razer controller for my 360 back in the day because it had six extra mappable buttons, my brain can't use a normal controller anymore. The newest one, the Chroma V2 is so damn comfortable and they use tactile switches for all the buttons so they 'click' like a mouse press (sound and all)

Anthony just hosted it, Adam was the writer. Though it is awesome in itself to see Anthony in front of the camera just reading off a script like Linus does. He's a great host

Wow, that's a bigger difference in latency than I anticipated. I expected something like 4-5ms most of which comes from the monitor. I'm pretty sure I could notice that kind of latency, and it would probably help a bit with tracking aim.

The heavy mouse comment had me cracking up. I use the ROG Spatha X. I like the girth and weight. I have somewhat large hands with long(ish) fingers...not that I'm trying to make excuses, but this mouse has been through some shit (unfortunately had wine spill on it) and it's still kicking ass! Not to mention the switches are also easily replaced.

It makes me really happy to see options like sennheiser hd800s, re20, wooting and even the mouse m1k which all are my end game goal here, not that it is a surprise but its nice to see that people actually did put some research and probably are just as into this stuff as i am

Yeah, I was thinking they'd go for a Logitech or Razer "gaming" headset. Maybe a Sennheiser PC38x, but to actually go for the HD800 S is noice. The CPU retention bracket, even the chair (Aeron for me personally). If I ever make a modern list of ultimate PC parts, this is extremely close to it.
@Auruchius
@Auruchius Рік тому
@Transistor Jump Not necessarily "better" but it is the planar counterpart to what the HD800/800S is capable of. I think it just presents the sound differently than what the HD800S can. A good example of this is the soundstaging. HD800/S is focused on extreme width while the Arya (and other egg-shaped Hifiman headphones) focus on verticality, scale, and "grandness". Depending on what type of presentation you prefer, both are exceptional in what they do best.
