In this stream, we're building with a bizarre Micro-ATX PC case that was sent to us by another UKpostsr (BPS Customs). This GameKM Micro-ATX case has been sitting in storage for months now, so it's time to do something with it and make a fun PC in this tubular case. It's outfitted with 1x 200mm fan up front, a lot of glass and plexi, and has some unique challenges for Steve and Patrick to overcome in today's stream.
Steve & Patrick will be signing ALL GN Store Mouse Mats and Mouse Pads purchased during this special stream, and at no extra cost! If you order while the stream is live, you will get a unique autographed mouse pad or mouse mat from both Steve and Patrick.

Steve, I called the Nintendo hotline. I was stuck on Ultima Exodus I knew the next step was to go to an area, but the game would not continue. I had hand-drawn maps for this game on graph paper but I could not figure out what was wrong. The person on the phone knew my answer right away he said I found a bug where if I did not go directly from one area to the other area it would not work, the workaround was to return to the expected area and then to the objective. Their answer worked. If I remember correctly it cost under 10 bucks for the entire call. About the case, it would look sick if it had a curved clear glass exterior.

I called the Nintendo hotline on Final Fantasy 3 (American version). At the very end of the opera song, there was a part where you were supposed to pick up some flowers and toss them over the edge. I spent days, DAYS, trying to figure out what they were talking about. The sprite used for the flowers didn't look at all like flowers to me and/or I didn't know I could interact with them in a certain way. I called in multiple times. Gave up. Came back weeks later and asked someone else to follow the instructions give to me. They figured it out.

I don't understand why you wouldn't make a box box shaped. That is the practical shape for a PC case to be. Boxes have been around for a long time and the dynamics of boxes are so well understood that any discussion about not understanding them is ludicrous. What the hell is wrong with boxes? I find boxes with minimal, roughly symmetrical adornments to be aesthetically pleasing and elegant, they're easy to make and and rack and stack, and easy to maintain and clean and more durable than weird shapes with weird plastic vents everywhere, which tend to catch on things and become filthy.

If the front was fully meshified and there was room in the back for like 2x90mm exhaust fans side by side, above the motherboard I/O, and the acrylic cover was perforated on the GPU side, I think this could work really well thermally AND look cool.

I had one case with a 200mm fan on top, i think it was a coolermaster case. Was my first full pc build, i turned it on the first time after building it and the blades hit the fan housing and several of the blades exploded into a bunch of pieces instantly before my finger even left the power button. That was like 12 or so years ago, since then i have steered clear of 200mm fans and coolermaster entirely.

Would definitely be interested in downdraft cooler reviews. It's not something I need to know about often, but it has occasionally come in useful. Though, usually with that being smaller formfactor stuff, I'd just explain that smaller stuff gets pricier and recommend the NH-L9x65. Since it's relatively compact but still a good performer.

I kind of followed your example steve, did some local PCC courses and found them to be pretty non-educational as I already knew most of the knowledge they were trying to teach due to being more self-taught, however the instructors and people I met were great and that made me keep coming back until I lost my part-time job and could no longer pay for any more classes. I then joined the USAF and did a single 4-year tour working on the C-130 Flight Simulator at McChord AFB in Tacoma. And here I volunteered to go overseas like Japan and Germany and the UK but found that all the overseas simulators were already being maintained by private contractors so could only go state side and this is how I ended up at McChord. Living in PDX made it quite nice actually as Tacoma is about 180 Miles north on I5.

This case is sold here in my country in Asia too. There's a couple of brands but the shape and features are the same. I'm pretty sure there's a bigger version for ATX boards too, but I think they haven't changed the 2-slot GPU thing so it's very disappointing. You'd think a wind-tunnel like shape would make this case very cool on a temperature standpoint as long as the fans are good, but it's more bling than actual functionality structure-wise IMO which is very disappointing. They could've just done a good mesh on the front and had 4x120mm fan mounts there for ventilation power.

Just a note about that case: If you delete the drive cage and the front "glass", use an SFX power supply and get a little happy with a dremel you can actually fit a 200mm radiator in the front (if you can find one), plus a decent pump and reservoir for one hell of a custom loop. The only downside is, you won't be able to use hard line, which means no matter how well done it is the community is going to shit all over you, but it works well enough to keep a 9900k frosty.

I’d have to agree with the other viewer that the fans should blow upwards in this case. Not because warm air raises or because they would blow hot air onto the motherboard. But because on the blowing side of a fan, the air moves straight, while on the sucking-side of a fan, it moves from all directions. So when you install it upwards, air gets moved out of the case more efficiently and doesn’t recirculate it as much.

I used my own Silverstone SX700 LPT PSU and I needed ZERO extensions. The "top down" Noctua NH-C14S fit with no probs at all. Instead of mounting a 140mm fan on top of the cooler, I mounted two (2) 140mm fans on the hinged door. The bottom fan is located above the cooler. (Editing this in before posting, hoping this is clear but I feel with a moment of filtering through, you can very easily see what I was meaning) So a bit more of a question on the VERY high-end technical level. With Linus opening up his Labs stuff, and you getting the sound chamber and fan tester going... Has there been any talk about somewhat collaborating? Or looking at trying to put something together under a no-so-uniform umbrella? I get not wanting so it doesn't feel like there is any colaborative angst against certain companies... But also feel it could be a way to potentially make a one-stop place to get good feelings on products with varying feelings that are truly independant but can give a solid back and forth from multiple outlets. Obviously not limited to you and LTT. If it would be done I feel everyone involved would want to have 5-10 (obviously exact numbers being pulled out of the aether) just to have potentially competing ideals (outside of want to bring good numbers and facts, not simply feelings) to make things be much more challenged in different thoughts. I get not wanting to centralize things, but also feel you all could see how wanting to centralize it could be useful.

The updraft/downdraft debate is simple, all coolers have been downdraft since the beginning because you actually BLOW air onto the cpu and as you said the VRM. (old tower coolers were all downdraft, none ever vented to the side, that is new since the inclusion of water cooling and the advent of hotter processors...all since the switch from 32 bit to 64 bit in the early 2000's)...while drawing heat away from the cpu area is the ultimate goal you have to have the cooling substance pass over the area affected, now here you have heat pipes draqawing away heat but even they will be more effecient with air passing over the outside of them to cool their outer surface, reversing air flow to send all air away would allow the exterior of the heat pipes to retain more heat and lose efficiency...so even here air passing down towards the cpu helps)

Before the mesh trend started 2 or 3 years ago, that pretty much describes most of the flagship cases on the market, several RGB fans right behind a big pane of glass.

I can't believe he almost put the fan on backwards!! I'm freaking out! I can't believe that you turned off the AC even though the AC was super loud and annoyed chat! I can't believe that I'm engaging with a Livestream from a month ago!

I hate wasted space in a case so I won't build out of that cooler master it came with. Probably do an ITX mini gaming build next. Idk I use 6 Nocturne fans in that Lian 3 top 3 bottom directing flow upward 👆 great fans... No thermal paste metal pad easier more consistent lows

I will admit that if I was doing a build in that case, I would have had the cooler oriented 180 degrees from what they did so the fans overhung on the VRM heatsink. But that is a matter of choice I guess.

Considering the fact we're talking about gamers, "play out of sight" might be accurate.

Nice build. So when are you going to load an OS and show the performance, although I don't expect it to be record shattering

Great stream! Is there any chance you could look at the SAMA IM-01 case (different rebrands exist)? It's basically a NR200 clone but with MicroATX.

Is it possible to take an audio sample of the AC and play it on an inverted loop within OBS?

the part infront of the fan needs a SAW and a filter. Id cut it open maybe leave a support rail and make it use a HVAC filter that i could replace.

Sorry guys.. I was obviously trolling a bit with the "cool PC with speaker" question. You took it really well. No way that flimsy case could handle an actual subwoofer movement without disintegrating. Though with two Tesla Valves such a subwoofer cooled case could work, so long as you were always enjoying OG hip-hop while using the PC. Or maybe some really loud ambient. Game-wave.
